Hello Sam, This is Susan (Mama B) Thank you so much for my beautiful spoon set! I was so surprised when I saw the engravings. It really was the perfect gift! 🐝❤️
So nice to "meet you"! :) I really really enjoyed how yours turned out too! Kudos to your gift giver for reaching out to see if I would do something custom. I enjoyed it! :)
I’m so pleased with my order, and you showed my utensils in your video, it was awesome to see and to know they were the ones shipped to me. I will order another set for my daughter for Christmas. Again thank you so much and thanks to Angela for my soap order too. You are my favorite show on you tube. I look forward to watching you every week.
As always, great video. I have to say, watching you do these things (And please know I mean this is only the best way possible) because your unsophisticated style of working and explaining things speaks to me on what feels like an equal level and gives me tons of confidence in my own endeavors. I don't ever have to say "Yeah well HE can do it because look at his incredible expensive setup" or "his experience level puts him way above the average guy". I love that about your approach and its why I love tuning into your channel whenever you put something out, even when it has nothing to do with Laser Engraving. :) You seem like someone I could walk up to at a Wal-Mart and ask a question of and you would gladly answer. Please keep that "regular guy" style about you and never change because I am sure I am not alone that cherishes your approachability.

I really genuinely appreciate this comment Jack! It resonates with what I truly want from this channel and what I hope people who view come away feeling. :) Thank you for the encouragement! I've been stopped a few times in stores by viewers and once the initial deer-in-headlights wears off of me, like to think I'm as approachable in person as in these videos. :) Thanks!
Sam, I absolutely enjoy your true honesty and work ethic. You’re a breath of fresh air and I wish you much success in your journey. I know I enjoy watching you!
I don't know if your sanding mop is able to be taken apart. But there is one on Amazon that does come apart and you can make your own sanding mop pads by cutting small strips of sandpaper, punching a hold in the center, and stacking them. It's tightened by a nut and you can make them thick or thin and any grit. I learned of this from another RUclips that carves wood spirits with a Dremel Tool, and he makes his own sanding mops on smaller jigs...
A couple of wholesalers for beechwood utensils I found were Down To Earth Distributors, Alibaba, and Faire. Although Faire does engraving as well. Don’t know if will help you or not, but I love y’all’s channels and hope it helps. Staff safe and God Bless.
For the laser freaking out issue get a UPS (CyberPower or APC) for the laser. That will clean the signal up and also give you some extra time running if needed a light, tablet and laser will only use 100-130 watts.
Sam, the oil you are using is great, no problems with it. BUT, it is MCT oil. There are much more cost effective versions of "plain old" MCT oil, around $60/gal or so. Thank you for sharing!!!
I just us 2 box-fans with very good air filters on both sides of the Item area, 1-filther per fan, suction side of the fan, with each fan blowing away from the Item I am working on, course there are so many ways or videos on this on RUclips to watch, just pick the one you like, I'm a very easy/simple person, Later
Hello Sam, Barbara pitcher here. I am so excited, because I received my order from you today. I want to order 4 more sets for my children for Christmas gifts. I’m so impressed with your work and attention to detail. They are awesome.
Great job Sam. Take a simple project and with a little time and effort the finished product is hundreds of times better. Hope you're able to find a supplier with good quality products. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks Sam! You are the true example of business helping business. We all need to help each other. My motto has always been “surround yourself with good people and good things happen”. A while back your video encouraged me to buy the ortur which I love and am still learning. I finally bought the ortur cover which I wish I would have purchased right away. Sam, my wife and I love your videos. We always watch all of the Green Acres videos together. One quick note about the oil finishes, mineral oil is actually vegan as well, you just have to be sure to not use oil that has beeswax added to it, like many board "conditioners."
You're right, it's vegan. :) The non-petroleum based finish is a good selling point for this oil, too. Although I've wondered the appreciable difference between sales... how many would choose one over the other... Hmmm.. :)
Thanks Anthony! It really means a lot to have a comment like this. I try to be genuine in all my videos, but never know if it comes across in the final show. Your comment made my day!
Sam, awesome content man, just found your channel. I’m slowly digging through everything, did you by chance make a video walking through your solar setup? Would love to see it if not. Thanks!
Hi Sam as the spoon is likely to be stored in the same manner as your oil drying rig, can you flip the logo in the system so it's the right (other) way up? 👍 😎
Hey Sam, you could hang the utensils, on a small dowel, or piece of all-thread if straight is a concern. Then run the all-thread or dowel through the handles of the utensils. And hang the all-thread is dowel between the hooks on the shelf brackets over your tub of oil! Anyhow just a thought. Thanks for another great video my friend.. until next time..
drill press bearings aren't designed for lateral loading, and you will eventually cause the bearings to go by pressing sideways on the chuck. a desktop mill will have bearings designed for lateral loading if you want to continue sanding with the mops
I also watch "Phil Anderson - Shady Acres Woodshed" who turns branches on a lathe leaving as much bark as possible then sands the bark portion with something called sand-o-flex. I can't describe it but he says it works great so it might be something you could also use. Seems to be available from several places and in different grits. Now back to finish watching the video!
Great video! ❤ Thanks for sharing! Do you have a video showing how you set your shop up off grid? I would love to see it! Do you ever pre-sand all of your utensils ahead of time? Maybe you can do all of your sanding in one day. Then just grab what you need as you go and put them through the engraver and then finish your process. Just a thought.
Hey Sam, love your channel. The reason why the drill press and laser can’t operate together is the motor on the press is kicking out all kinds of conducted emissions back onto the power line…..more than the laser’s power supply can filter out. You might want to do some research into power line filtering. I’m not an electrical engineer but I work on a lot of projects with EEs and this comes up a lot in our designs, so I’m not 100% sure if it would be better to put the filter on the press or the laser. If you got a UPS that also did power quality filtering you could put that on the laser and it should knock that down.
Ahhh... that totally makes sense! I have an ISObar somewhere in the shop (in one of these boxes) that I bought for the CNC when I got it, but never needed it. I should try to dig it up and put the laser on it. It's supposed to help with interference. :)
Sam the man in action !!! Love it !!! How does the engraving hold up to use ? Like stirring soups and stews. Do you need to re-oil them after using and washing ?
The engraving should last a very long time since they're placed in a general low-friction point of the utensil. The utensil's lifespan before needing to be touched up and oiled again depends on the user and how they care for it. Submerging or dunking in fluids is a killer to the utensil. It robs them of the oils and strips them down again. It's not the end of the world (usually) but does mean sanding and oiling them again as if new.
About a year and half ago I made a batch out of cedar as prototypes. They were good, but I wanted to improve upon them. Soon as I can source a good local kiln dried lumber supplier I hope to get the CNC running again!
i know this was a while ago but I appreciate the work you put into this. It gives me a better understanding of what to do for the future. Im still working on getting my stuff off the ground and its hard but one day I will. So ty for all that you do
Hey, Sam, do you ever make and monogram cutting boards? My daughter was married this year and shes a culinary graduate. I'm not sure what you would sell it for and if I have the budget, but it would be cool to get a cutting board for them with a monogram. Since they hyphenated their last name, I think it will be too long to fit on utensils nicely.

I really enjoy your videos Sam. I’ve looked and looked and I’m just not seeing where you are listing your source for these wooden utensils. Thanks for your information and keep up the good work. 👍🏼
I've found that JDS Industries here in the US has bamboo engravable utensils (all 12", spatula, salad spoon, and salad fork, plus a 6.5" set of salad hands for mixing the salad). They've also got other stuff like the big grill scrapers, pissa cutters, etc that are engravable. You'll have to set up a wholesale account with them (requires business license), but it so far has been worth it. They also do a multitude of other engravables as well (tumblers, keychains, leather stuff, etc). They even sell premade templates and other laser-accessories.
And if you're going to buy utensils at Hobby Lobby, wait til they put their stuff on sale, and most of the stuff (utensils & cutting boards) are at least 40%, sometimes 50% off.. Definitely the time to stock up.
I also have a business account with JDS. :) Yet to order though... have been looking at their catalog for a while but not overly excited about anything I've seen yet..
I enjoy watching your videos. I make wood signs and flags, currently I am making a custom table for a rv. I am curious on what tools you are able to run on your solar array? Ad I am considering adding one myself, I use a tablesaw chop saw air Sanders a compressor ect.
It really all depends on the output capacity from your inverter and your tool demand. I have a 10" DeWalt jobsite table saw and it will run it fine. My current setup is a 3,500 watt output inverter.
I enjoy time in my workshop. :) I really want to get the CNC fired back up soon, too. I need to do some simple, but custom signs, and look forward to using Carveco Maker again and all that stuff. I have been unable to find a source for Baltic birch over here in East TN though and that's a kicker to my CNC aspirations for signage. I really liked using that stuff.
curious of your thoughts on using Ikea Rort spoons? they look similar to your utensils decently cheap and I believe you can have them shipped to your location.
Your videos are always good. Glad to see your shop getting back in order. I'm going to try the monograming with my laser for some family gifts this year.
Just a silly question 🤪 that oil is so expensive, so leaving the whole tote open to the air and dust for some time seems like it could be an issue, why not just wipe the tote top off ,replace and let it drip on the top as it has a Valley all around the edge, then pore it threw a fine mesh thingy, lol back into the tote ,yes not as simple, but keeps your precious oil clean and pure???
I had a similar problem with my 3d printer freaking out at random times - annoying after a 15hr print fails. Found out it happened when the refrigerator I keep my beer in kicked on! Solution was to wrap the cables around ferrite cores (little metal donuts) fixed it first time!!😄 - fridge was causing a spike in the current - the cores damp it out. Worth a try?

Even at 73 I still love technology. Thank you for doing what you both do for our benefit.😅👍👍
Thanks Roy!
You can make your own sanding mops for cheap.
Great video! The honesty and open communication is refreshing.
Hi Sam. Love your videos. I have a suggestion for you. Compare Fractionated Coconut oil vs the cutting board oil. I think you will be happy with the quality and especially the price point. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You do great work Sam! The thing I like is that you seem to realise that even though you're sharing your producs with us, we aren't all competing in the same market. For a lot of us, our markets are our facebook friends, friends of friends, and their family memebers. The chances of crossover is slim to none. Keep killin' it bud!
Exactly!!!
Really enjoyed your concise and no-frills approach to the business!
i ENJOYED THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH. i AM RETIRED FROM AT&T AND HAVE DONE WOODWORK BEFORE BUT I AM ALMOST 80 YEARS OLD AND HAVE ARTHIRITIS VERY BAD AND UNABLE TO DO VERY MUCH.
Put in 1to 1 isolation transformer in on electronic device power to isolate it from the other stuff.
Really enjoy your videos Sam. My wife and I almost have our shop set up, we are learning a lot from you, thank you.
Great to hear!
So happy to see Sam Craft back. Your in your element here and I really like your videos and how your detailed explanations are. Great video
I LOVE SAMCRAFT!
Your shop's a dream of mine. Great informative video fellah. Very helpful
I really enjoy your videos Sam. I’ve looked and looked and I’m just not seeing where you are listing your source for these wooden utensils. Thanks for your information and keep up the good work. 👍🏼
Great video sam good to see you
Great Information. Really a pleasure to watch your technique. Great Channel. Thanks
Hmm, Wonder if a small engine cylinder flex hone would work for a contour sander. The one with little balls used to make cross hatch patterns.
Glad your back Sam!! Hope to see your Shapeoko Pro up and running again soon!!
I really liked using that stuff.
very much enjoyed it! enjoy your approach, honesty, and down to earth way... keep it up... can't imagine my shop being off grid
Thanks Mike!
Don't cross the streams! Nice lil Ghostbusters quote in there. High five Sam!
Hi. You didn’t list the link of where you get the spoons and turning paddles from
Hey that was awesome 😉🤗 but more so is the fact you are in your new shop producing great products on your beautiful property 👏🏻👏🏻❤️🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
curious of your thoughts on using Ikea Rort spoons? they look similar to your utensils decently cheap and I believe you can have them shipped to your location.
Beach wood aged wooden utensils 🤔 great video 🍻
I’m wondering where you purchase your utensil sets? Great video!
Sam Thank Your for sharing your knowledge and resources with all of us. I enjoy your videos.
I appreciate that!
Sam thanks for the info on this video. Could you please tell me the length of the utensils?
Your videos are always good. Glad to see your shop getting back in order. I'm going to try the monograming with my laser for some family gifts this year.
Is this the same process with cutting boards? If not would any suggest a video.
Worth a try?
hey Sam.. when you set up your exhaust system please make a RUclips. i need to set one up for our wood working/carving/lapidary shop in the basement.
question.. is it okay to set up a shop where dust collects in the basement next door to our furnace?
Love watching the show he learned a lot and I wonder if he will say how much you sell them for I know they go through quite a bit of work I know they’re not gonna be cheap but would like to know
I have them all listed on our family small business: greenacrehomestead.com 😎
Loved this. Want to see more ❤️
I saw a story this week saying that Pacific shipping rates are dropping due to lower demand. Hope that helps your business. I love following you and your family. Thanks for sharing your stories.
Thanks for sharing!
