- For months Prince Alexander of Daventry has shut himself away from the world, thinking only of Princess Cassima, who he met while imprisoned in the previous game. Eventually he can take it no longer, and he hires a ship to search for the Land of the Green Isles located on the edge of the world. After months of searching he finally sets sight upon the island kingdom, only for a freak storm to strike the ship, destroying it and leaving him the only survivor. His troubles are far from over, however, as he soon finds out that the King and Queen have passed away, the Greens Isles are on the brink of war, and his beloved Princess Cassima may even be held prisoner by the royal vizier.
Like its predecessors in the series, King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow is a third-person puzzle-solving adventure game. For Alexander to save the Isles, he must travel between the Land's four magical islands, each based on myth and fables, and encounter people and strange beasts that will either help or hinder him. Alexander must be careful as well, because, as with all the King's Quest games, poor choices or missteps will often prove fatal for the Prince. Puzzles are solved linearly, although late in the game there are two completely different paths to take to reach the final confrontation. Like the previous game, actions are performed using a point-and-click interface with icons that represent verbs ("walk", "examine", "use", "talk", etc.) -Mobygames
I can see few similarities in Sierra's King's Quest 6 when compared to it's rival Monkey Island from Lucasarts especially Monkey Island 2. It has also travelling between islands via map, dancing skeletons, the song is like "Bone song" from Monkey Island but in KQ6 it is called "Dance of the Bones" ect, ect! The game has simply great atmosphere and it's fun to play. If you liked games like MOnkey Island you'll like this too! -Thriftweed
♩♬ "The head bone's connected to the, rib bone The rib bone's connected to the, leg bone The leg bone's connected to the, hip bone" Doin' the skeleton dance.♪♫
The CD-ROM version of the game includes both DOS and Windows versions, full speech, a pre-rendered introduction, and the Girl in the Tower theme song.

Man, I just spent my day watching this. What a trip, what at throwback.
To this day, everytime I pull out my phone to use goggle maps, I always say "Alexander pulls out his magic map."
If only the teleportation part would work as well :)
Would be funnier if your name was actually Alexander
Do you feel a strange pulling sensation as well?
Even when you'r alone?
I've never heard the conversation with Jollo in the castle go that way! Usually I find out about the genie from him in the bookshop and just bring him the lamp as soon as I get in the castle. Amazing that years later I can STILL find new stuff in this game. THOUSANDS of lines of dialogue.
The skin on Arch Druid's head blinks when he blinks XD What a badass, wearing a live tiger.
The nostalgia!!!! Every so often, i have to either watch a play through of this game or actually play it with my brother. Such a wonderful game
The Pawnshop Owner is voiced by Dave Fennoy, the voice of Vol'jin, Gonk, Kimbul and Bwonsamdi in WoW, Rodin from the Bayonetta series, Street Fighter V, Fallout 4, and many others. This appears to have been his very first video game voice actor role.
Not to mention Gabriel Tosh from Starcraft II.
The game's dialogue is also better if you talk to him first, before going to the castle.
You didn’t tickle the dangling participle?! Haha thank you so much for this, everyone had posted the Dos portrait version, this one is the one I remember!
This game is so awesome! I played it in the mid 90s as a kid. I recently got into into it again cause I installed Dosbox on my Mac OS X and Nintendo Wii. Thanks for posting the walkthrough cause this game can get difficult. Great game!
This references King's Quest III in a ton of ways. This is the second time Alexander sails cross the sea, the second time he visits an oracle, the second time he uses a spellbook which requires him to mix ingredients, and the second time he uses a magic map. All of those happened first in King's Quest III.
Cat cookies. Play pranks on your friends!
Alexander feels a strange pulling sensation...
This is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played as a young kid. Quest for Glory 4 was great too, but this one didn't have any bugs and it really captured my imagination!
For those of you who can't read what the text says at 4:26:04, it says
"Alexander hears a door off to the north open hall, then the sound of a guard dog footsteps. The footsteps are headed this way!"
Just think. Not even 10 years before King's Quest VI, computer games were 16 color pixelated programs which had beeping noises in place of music and zero voice acting. Sierra really pushed the boundaries.
love the music in the first cutscene in the opening
Attitude, Lady Celeste, what's with that attitude? Sometimes I wish those games already had a way to let you're character reply a little bit...... less friendly. Thanks vor playing, recording and uploading this! I guess I'd never be able to play it, but I was so eager to see what happens.
Spell dog backwards It's a cultural thing. The winged ones are taught by their elders to regard humans with an attitude that ranges from patronizing to outright utter disdain. They believe that humans are greatly inferior creatures because they do not possess wings. You may have noticed, Azure talks to you similarly, as do the guards. The only humans they remotely respect are royalty and they don't know Alexander is a prince, nor do they personally owe him their allegiance even if they did.
I guess you're right. They're "higher" beings (not only cause they're located up there).. so.. yeah, it makes sense. Still. "Thanks for saving me, now untie me... mortal peasant!" is one way to say thanks.
Reminds me of Quel'dorei and humans in WoW's lore.
I feel like the ending want the optimal one... Did you miss something to make the genie do fireworks during the ceremony?
I waited for the longest time for this to come out on cd that was back before the internet so you constantly had to call stores for release dates. I loved the floppy version but the cd version made the floppy version that much better I loved the cheesy 90s pop song at the end so much so I bought the Sierra soundtrack cd just so I could have that song back in the day. There are still some 90s Sierra games that I would love to play again just to see how well they have held up over the years. Unfortunately GOG and Steam have yet to release them
Good characters and illustrations indeed
I did not know there was multiple ways to get to the ending....I guess you go back to before the druids burn you and just go to the castle at that point? You use the maiden's clothes to sneak into the castle?? Anyways, this was an excellent video thank you so much for making it. I have enjoyed re-living this game via this video.
That's interesting, because I didn't know you could use Cinderella's clothes to get in the castle. I wonder how many ways of winning there were?
Mandaprie There were only 2, when you snuck into front door, it was a lot harder, but the ending was kind of meh. Genie dies, Cassimas parents are still dead and you don’t see king graham or the queen of Daventry again.
@@thes.a.s.s.1361 Interesting though! I tried sneaking in with her clothes but couldn't figure out how to finish the game (didn't look at a walkthrough).
@@thes.a.s.s.1361 Thank you! I was wondering why in all these different walk throughs I wasn't seeing Alexander in a dress hiding in the guard post as I remember from my childhood 😂 I forgot how many times we played the game.
And an extra 10pts for this longplay :) 241/231
😭😭😭 miss this
Captain Saladin reminds me of Gabriel Byrne"s character from The Man In The Iron Mask movie
Hey there! I was planning on streaming this. I run ScummVM, and I can't find a talkie + subtitles version anywhere. Any clues? Thanks!

@@thriftweeds Ty so so much!
I don't understand the answer to the 'A Master of Languages Will _ _ _ _' puzzle on the mountain part...
Oh wait, didn't you need the manual for that part?
@@Stu8025 it spells out SOAR when you have the manual
@@Stu8025 yes! The manual was necessary. We couldn't get up the cliffs when I was a kid till we forked out for the book. I think we also had to upgrade our video card for this game 😂 so worth it.
