Love these podcasts. Honestly keep doing them. They are brilliant and in a time where we are clawing out way out of 40+ years of demonising all left politics they are brilliant in enlightening so many of us who haven't had the opportunity to learn about socialism/communism etc. Big thumbs up brother.
Fantastic podcast, well done all. Its so good to hear people who think and believe as I do. Wholeheartedly agree on the utter cowardice of MSM comedians. They are forever covered in sh*t.
Bovington tank museum is also just a short distance down the road from T.E. Lawrence's (of Arabia) cottage - you guys could pop in there (it's a National Trust property and open to the public) and have a look around - I would be fascinated to hear Alexei and Talal's thoughts on that guy and his legacy.
Bovington, now just known as The Tank Museum, has a rather glossy RUclips channel that I quite like. The “Tank Chats” are quite popular and include a number of historians and celebrities (Al Murray) introducing their five favourite/least favourite tanks. I reckon they’d fall over themselves to get Alexei down there.
A really good historical narrative and prescient analysis of the current political malaise of the Labour Party....and a bloody good listen! Alexei, you need to gain access to the technology that dumped the U2 album on iTunes whether they wanted it or not! Peace to you and Talal ✌️
I remember a story from years ago, 70s? that the morning star was flying off the shelves. No one knew why, until it was pointed out that the stars racing tipster had finished top of the tipster league in the previous horse racing season.
Nice to hear the Otway reference. I played keyboards in his band for a couple of years in the mid-90s. That does sound a bit like something he'd have done earlier in his career. Later in his career, he probably wouldn't have been sick.
Excellent conversation and very interesting, as always. Talal came back from Latitude with a lot of swear words, surprising what living next to the Kermodes does to the youth of today.
Excellent stuff again. Really like this idea of interviewing professors and experts. Don't drop all the other stuff, but definitely continue with this if you can. What's next? There's a quite good opportunity with 'democracy' perhaps, as of course Marx and Engels advocated direct rule by the people (perhaps the purest possible form of democracy)? Sure other people have better ideas...
Is you’re middle name really. Moscow Dynamo back 4. Hi Alexei. Can’t get the radio series you wrote about the Communist football team and star player Stevie Stalin. Tried everywhere. Always made me laugh. Crunchthorpe in the FA cup.
Is your patreon aspiration really socialist in intent? ...... I would love to see Alexei's military commentary but I am a nurse and can't afford regular subscription..... I am willing to act as PR... and have already sent several links to friends.... so would be gratefully to receive access on (no) quid pro quo!
It could be very well worthwhile that Alexei talks to someone from the Jewish Community and see why they were more vocal about antisemitism in the labour party. Jews have constantly been calling out the right for antisemitism and the reason why it was a hot topic is because the did not expect to feel it from the left. The non apologies of "I'm sorry you feel that there is antisemitism but there isn't " from corbyn was fairly disappointing. Also the fan base of younger generations did not understand that socialism would need they would need to contribute for everyone to have a better life. They merely thought that things could be improved for impoverished people and their lives would be exactly the same or better.
I can better a tank. How about a show in a Handley Page Victor, XA917 the supersonic V bomber? Still has Martin Baker ejection seats and the rear crew seats. No monkeys but you do get to sit in the best looking V bomber.
I'm getting confused listening about Russian politics and history. Good job my 13 year old son is helping me. How does my son store all this information? when will his teacher's catch up? 😔
Love you Lexi, but this former Trot is a bit of a blurt ain't he? Still talkin about "unions... factories...", when you get to G for Gramsci, hopefully you'll interview an actual communist (like you did in the great programme about the YCL recently) and we'll get somewhere about a possible future left strategy.
I think one of the reasons why the British working class were not as anti-ruling class as the German, Italian, Russian, etc. working classes is that their standard of living came from exploiting the working class of India, Africa, and the rest of the British Empire and that there was a lot of awareness of that through working class people who joined the British Army and other organizations that sent them to work in the Empire, and then came home.
With an estimated net worth of $6 million (£4.31 million) and a second home in Spain, Alexei Sayle is living proof that inside every socialist is a damned good capitalist. Live long and prosper comrade.
Where'd his money come from? Did he acquire it through his own labour? Is it because his labour was of a value to earn that much? Having money does not equate to being a capitalist and make you less of a socialist. It is how you earn that money. Find an occupation that values your labour to the same level and quit your moaning.
@@georgearnold841 Regardless, you can advocate socialism while accepting that we currently live in a capitalist society, and playing the game by those rules.
@@thegrinderman1090 well yeah exactly. With regards to @Somebloke it's not even a contradiction to do so. Working out how to benefit personally from a capitalist framework does not make one a capitalist. He's another that uses propagandised definitions to make nonsensical comments and arguments.
A capitalist is the one extracting the surplus labour value and keeping it in the form of profit. Not the person making a living. Marx lived in capitalist countries. But according to the logic you use, hes a capitalist. Ok

As a first comment just wanna say, my guy Alexei is a true comrade and a comedy icon
Another big fan from devon Mr Sayle. I can confirm we do all love you here.
another great podcast, I really enjoyed it and learned things. I think that more academic discussions should have swearing in them.
Lived in Devon my whole life, I'm delighted to find out we'll be ground zero for the revolution

Wow, that's a cool wee nugget to hear Alexei Sayle gave Saul Williams a lift to the airport! He's a great poet
Seeing Jerzei Balowski do his "Top five tanks" would be a dream. (They'd all be Soviet of course)
PLEASE PLEASE get Saul Williams on the podcast! He’s brilliant.

Fascinating and thought-provoking. Thank you for taking this project on.

Would he base his favourites on their ability to be driven by animals?
Wat a wonderful podcast educating certainly me on not how you should think but how we do think
I enjoy the podcast. From Cardiff. Thanks. x

Really enjoyed the interview. Looking forward to more
Excellent discussion, really captivating. Please more of these. Lovely use of the word twat as well. Enjoyed it
Thank you for your podcast. I can't wait for a podcast about the archaic and useless monarchy 🙂

These are ace, ta lad! Keep up the good work
Fantastic to hear a professor with precisely the same take on history and politics as myself. Thanks
Thank you Alexei. Not much political education out there. Hmmm, I wonder why.

Brilliant
Fav. tank: Sturmgeschutz III, or Sturmgeschutz IV?
Great discussion, my two favourite things Left wing Politics and Rugby League✊️🏉✊️🏉✊️.
Talal!! I can't believe you were at Latitude and didn't go and see Regressive Left, on The Ballroom stage! 😵
Who said that I didn’t?
Want to buy my old Raleigh Wayfarer?
Bring your interests in cycling and tanks together in one hard to pedal heavy object.
Bring on an expert "and let them speak" - exactly. And pretty unique. Reminds me of the opposite. Any political interview by Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
Excellent conversation and very interesting, as always. Talal came back from Latitude with a lot of swear words, surprising what living next to the Kermodes does to the youth of today.
I tried to join the Son’s Of Glyndwr once, but I was refused due to incorrect footwear.

What do folks think of Left Unity?
Speak to Bovington. I’m sure they’d have you doing a top/bottom 5 tanks by Alexei Sayle….
Genius
I almost switched off when bonobos were described as monkeys.
Our best friend Alex
TL;DR: If voting could make changes that threatened the ruling class, it would be illegal.

podcast is free, you don't get any content for the patreon, it's just a way to support it
Pink Gregory the comments at the end of this podcast were of a patreon only video commentary on crap tanks......

So that is why Boris's 'leveling up' is attractive to many...
