Part of the problem is the phoenix from the ashes stories of No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk. Every studio - particularly Bethesda - thinks they can do the same thing. I.e. release the game too early, lock in the cash, spend years improving the game and fans will eventually forgive and forget and, heck, even give you multiple gaming awards for your efforts
Kinda funny that we're at that year when people are not willing to play the new broken game, but are more willing to go back and play old games that were once released as broken but are now fixed.

Its because Skyrim is a decent game on its own, it doesnt have the core issues Starfield have (constant loading screens, wide as a ocean deep as a puddle etc..). Heck even combat, which is one of Skyrims weakest points, is more enjoyable in Skyrim than in Starfield due to the existence of magic and stealth being more fun. Starfield could easily have been A LOT better, had they went for a more fantasy sci-fi approach (more of a Warhammer 40K vibe, with magic, various races, gods), and focused on making a few very large handcrafted worlds and reducing the amount of loading and the need to travel all the time. Since they werent able to make ship-travel seamless with manual landing and taking off (like No mans sky) they should have just skipped all the ship mechanics and just have it be a fast travel between planets like in Outer Worlds. The game also lacks a unique feel and edge to it, everything, including the factions, are very tame, bland and boring. Soft modern. Basically what the should have gone for was more of a fantasy-sci fi Fallout New Vegas imo.
@@Vikingskog What? Most of the problems Starfield has were present in Skyrim as well. That's the real issue here. Overabundance of loading screens? Check. Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle? Check. Terrible AI? Check. Even when it comes to combat, it's hard to find something they did right. The magic system in Skyrim is the worst it's ever been due to how the level scaling works. And the stealth? Laughably bad. The only reason people like it is because it trivializes much of the combat encounters thanks to the terrible stealth detection. You could headshot a bandit right in front of his compatriots and still remain undetected.

Because Bethesda is by far the worst "AAA" game studio in the business. They're somehow a decade+ behind in graphics, facial animations, cutscenes, gunplay and a myriad of other things. And let's not even get started their complete inability to even the slightest bit compelling dialogue and stories. I truly don't understand how or why people but Bethesda games. There's literally nothing they're good at except marketing. Not to mention the game engine is absolutely horrendous. Your character feels like a floating camera with zero weight to it. I am and always will be bewildered as to how Bethesda got as big as they did. I believe if it weren't for the modding community and support then nobody wouldc buy their games. They're just bad. Starfield is without a doubt the most uninspired game I've ever played. The one positive is ship building, which is useless considering "space flight" is essentially just a loading screen.
Exactly how I think. I could write a book with atleast 1000 pages full of problems every single one of their games have. I played all of these games too, even Starfield (kinda forced myself to like it by playing for 80h) and I seriously dont get this cult following. They are still by a technical standpoint in a late Ps3/early Ps4 era but these games atleast always had something about them - exploration in Skyrim for example was really fun at that time - Starfield doesnt even have that. Its just uninspired garbage and Im convinced this is by far the best Bethesda can do. Its not like they havent tried. They are just years behind everyone else. Look at Studios like Fromsoft, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, CDPR, even Guerilla (I dont like Horizon that much but still), Santa Monica, Square Enix, Capcom etc. The list goes on and on. You dont have to like all their games, but you look at their games or even play their games for 5 minutes and you instantly see the mindblowing difference between them and Bethesda. Starfield feels like a Ps3 game remastered with better graphics (the Bethesda meele attack or their character movement says it all). Thats btw the only good thing I have to say about Starfield. Some locations look very cool, but thats it and I lost every hope for a good Elder Scrolls game
Same reason ppl like blizzard….they are an American company….. And they played what they Thought was a good game when they were kids.. Bethesda has always been bad/behind , dragons dogma was way better than Skyrim at the time. Bethesda was my favorite game studio since I was like 17 and started playing Oblivion religiously. I remember how fuckin hyped I was when I watched those men in black cloaks come out on stage and I immediately knew this is TES5 being announced. I watched the first gameplay footage with Todd on stage showing off the new engine and mechanics over and over again anxiously for the next year waiting for it to finally come out. Then I bought my first copy of Skyrim on release day and have bought 5-6 copies on every console other than pc and put 1000s of hours in to it since, literally to this day as I played for about an hour today. Once again, in 2018, I was hyped up again. After nearly a decade, FINALLY, they were announcing the next game. Id been playing ESO since launch at this point and was ready for a new core game. Then I realized they hadnt even started developing it yet.. Its now 6 FUCKIN YEARS LATER AND NOTHING. No gameplay, no nee mechanics, no story leaks, no setting leaks. NOTHING! Then the shit show that is Starfield comes out, and I have realized that the game studio I once adored is gone.. I dont have high hopes for TES6 unfortunately. I hope they surprise me, but I doubt it. Most of the gaming world has been conquered by woke policy, and Bethesda is a shell of what it once was.
yea similar story on my part , whole thing is sad, idk i even lost all hype for tes6 it has been to long time and bethesda ,has done nofting but shit in past decade.
Bethesdas problem isnt because of woke. it is the fact theyve spent a decade deliberatly making bad products. this what happens when a company realises that they dont need to make new games consider that the consumer will buy their re-releases instead. also why make a good product when modders can fix their problem for free. if it wasnt for the modder community their company would go bankrupt years ago for their lack of productivity. when 90% entire productivity line is because of modders you see why their games are the way they are.

A good friend of mine (of 20 years) is one of those 5,000 people who are playing the Starfield expansion. He is taking the day tomorrow to play Star Wars Outlaws. He said, and I'm not making this up, he said: "It sounds like a pretty good game". Twenty years a friend... and today I learned he is a bot.
I don't really understand why that upsets you. I have friends who like to play golf, I have friends who like to suck dick. I'm not into either of those hobbies myself, but to each their own. I'm not going to join them if they invite me to join those activities, but I'm happy that they're having fun.
Isn't the definition of a bot following the crowd ? Sounds like he's playing the games and making up his own opinion. Quite literally the opposite of a bot.
He just sounds like a casual. I mean casuals usually have idiotic opinions stemming from not even playing games beyond surface level, so it’s not like their views matter.
That "has become" goes back 15-20 years by now. But the same way a dead tree can still stand upright even when it's core is rotten, it took a while for people to notice.
They even messed up the land vehicle, since the mouse is locked to the steering. I swear to god, it's one step forward and a giant backflip backwards with Bethesda
That ending felt unfinished too. not really a spoiler, but you get zero lore on their beliefs, what or who the great serpent is, why they are so extreme and so devoted etc. It's all cause '1 guy said he talked to a snake god 100 years ago'. And the most important missing lore bit, in the base game the pilgrim talked about in his logs how he fought some guy and died over and over (he went in the unity so he kept fighting him in different universes) and it was strongly implied the other person was the OJ varuun founder. I expected some sort of extended lore on the unity, the interactions the founder of the house had with the pilgrim, if the snake god is actually a starborn who started a cult. My friends and I were theory crafting so hard and considering the deep lore of TES, expected some GOOD STUFF here, and we got NOTHING. ZERO. NO EXPLANATION ABOUT ANYTHING. The DLC just randomly ends. No end of DLC loot, no explanation of how things work or happened. and NO CHOICES. It's the same ending no matter what. This was INSANELY BAD just from a lore perspective. In fallout 4, at least the crazies (children of atom) you have unexplained magical effects like radiation not hurting you, and a womens voice whispering to you. That could make you a believer even if it's not explained. In starfield? Do we have a snake talking to us, or some magical powers? Nope. Everything was SPOILERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR a science project gone wrong, experimenting with grav drive tech to move people into a state of limbo like existence. How does that make people worship a serpent god? There's nothing moving them to the cult. The children of atom, she (the voice) talks to you, guides you, makes you powerful somehow. It's enough to hook people into worshipping... I expected the first intro quest to at least let us interact with the snake god somehow during initiation. Or hear him talk to you or give you orders. There was NOTHING.

Starfield: Little to no modding community. Expensive and bug-ridden. Game is deemed by some modders as pointless to mod. OR Fallout 4: Utterly enormous modding community. Multiple mod world constructions, including Fallout London, with Fallout Miami nearing completion, remakes, and continuations of past Fallout games in Fallout 4's engine, all made by fans, including voice auditions they accomplished, coming up with new weapons, enemies, layouts, and beyond that even surpass Bethesda's capabilities. Literally, the game has new content coming out for FREE. Complete Fallout 4 game (especially on sale) is generally cheap and inexpensive and can be modded to anything your heart's content. The game might be 9 years old, but the modding community's sheer size keeps players coming back for more and more. Fallout 4's motto might as well be, "Got a certain issue with the game? Don't worry. There's a mod for it."
It's pointless to mod because at the end of the day, mods wouldn't bring anything into the existing game structure. It's soo lacking in content and underlying mechanics that it's just a glorified game engine demo at that point. It's like saying "mod unreal engine 5's base demo files to add playability", you'd essentially be starting from scratch because there's nothing to build off of, and at that point you might as well make an entirely independent game that isn't a mod at all, or a mod of some other game with actual content and ways to utilize mods. Just think about it, what could you mod into starfield that would be worthwhile? It already has things like owning houses and decorating them, but even that is super boring and useless. It's a place you don't even need to go to, because you already have everything you need on the ship. It's not even worth the time spent decorating because you're not going to spend any time there because there's nothing to do there. And outside of the storyline, it's just the same dozen or so points of interest repeated over and over, that are pretty much entirely meant for farming, which you don't even need to do much of at generated points of interest, because you'll get more than enough resources naturally as you progress. Since there is effectively no real open world, and soo little to do outside of following the storyline missions, there's just nothing worth modding. The only modding that would be worthwhile at that point is something that mods in completely new storylines, with new locations and dialogs. But there is soo few game in starfield, that the amount of modding required to make the world feel lived in and full of things to do, would be like making a completely new game from scratch, and again, at that point you might as well just make a separate game set in its own universe, because the starfield universe is pretty bland. Its entire backstory is people have faster than light drives and occupy a bunch of planets and have some internal conflicts and are finding some alien artifacts. That's as generic as they come. There's no truly unique or riveting store to build off of.
@peoplez129 @cmedtheuniverseofcmed8775 😂😂Bruh wut? There are more mods for Starfield at this time than there was for Fallout and Skyrim at this time for their launch. In fact Elianora and other legendary Fallot and Skyrim modders designed the base game for Starfield. Elianora made all the outpost habs and ship habs for the vanilla game. People swear Fallout and Skyrim at launch were amazing, when the facts are the DLC's and 10 years of updates and mods made both of those games good, otherwise Morrowind and Oblivion will still be banging on the charts.
Bethesda games just rotate through a hate train cycle. When Fallout 4 came out, people were eviscerating it the same way they're doing to Starfield now. "Oh no a voiced protagonist, muh 'mersion! Oh no I can't so sidequests I must find my son! YES, NO, QUESTION, SNARKY YES dialogue wheel". Now people like it? Todd said in an interview that the main goal was to make Starfield a game "you can play forever", probably thinking about how all their other titles have enjoyed such enduring longevity, thanks in most part (imo) to mods like Fallout London (that Bethesda tried to hinder, mind you, with a mod breaking update on London's release day.) completely missing the point that modders only got so invested, thanks to the care and thought Bethesda's devs initially put into the game with it's environment story telling, and so on, Starfield had none of that, or very little, on release, so much so, that some mod devs, out right made it known, that they would NOT be making mods for it. And now here we are, with a game that looked at what NMS did with it's looping non-ending and thought, "Yes, that! That way the game can go forever!" for a narrative driven game. For years they have been making a cool sandbox with all the bells & whistles, tools, and hey a game too, for people to build in, this time they made the same, but forgot to give the shovels, buckets, and the sand is to be sold separately.
To be fair Fallout 3 and 4 are pretty good over all and all of the ELder scrolls games were great for their time. Sure Fallout 4 and Skyrim had plenty of bugs, but overall they were worth playing. That being said Starfield was clearly wehre Bethesda just ... completely lost their minds. Anyone that thought this DLC was going to right all of the wrongs was dreaming.
It's just more Starfield. It's not Far Harbor in space. It's the same formula the main game had. It's boring. I tried to look up lore and spoiler videos to see if they talked about the Va'ruun snake or something that would at least be interesting, but no it's just a side quest with a mini planet location. $30 in a recession. Insulting. I know people spent a lot of time working on this, but leadership at these companies need to do better on their decision making. They need to make fun games again. Well it still made them millions. Bethesda said that about TES6 because everyone's expectations are so high but then get disappointed when the game is just a modern version of their previous game. Which is what most video games do but apparently it's only bad when Bethesda does it and only since they were bought by Xbox
It's becoming quite clear that most of these studios are regressing. The devs are talking like they aren't even expecting much success with Elder Scrolls 6.

@@dendrien DEI, gender ideology and greedy practices are the problem. The good developers have left the company and been replaced with diversity hires who cant do the job, let alone fill the shoes of those who are gone.

Got an ad for this just before the video. Glorious
Propably saving the sweet stuff for starborn focused expansion.

*Bethesda*
Bethesda never changes...
I wish Bethesda never changes. We'd still have good games then
Bethesda: It costs $30
Me: Its a fair price for a game
Bethesda: ...
Me: For the game... right?
It was functionally one questline. Like a faction quest. The Vanguard questline felt more rewarding and longer.
Starfield: Little to no modding community. Expensive and bug-ridden. Game is deemed by some modders as pointless to mod. OR
Fallout 4: Utterly enormous modding community.
It helps that Fallout is an established franchise with a 30 year history.
F4 is the Skyrim of Fallout. The modding community will see that it lives forever more to at least some degree.
All the important mods were updated really fast. Didn't have to wait for script extender and achievement enabler and some other stuff for long.
Fallout 4 is almost 10 years old and still going strong

Bethesda games just rotate through a hate train cycle. When Fallout 4 came out, people were eviscerating it the same way they're doing to Starfield now. "Oh no a voiced protagonist, muh 'mersion! Todd said in an interview that the main goal was to make Starfield a game "you can play forever", probably thinking about how all their other titles have enjoyed such enduring longevity,
thanks in most part (imo) to mods like Fallout London (that Bethesda tried to hinder, mind you, with a mod breaking update on London's release day.)
completely missing the point that modders only got so invested, thanks to the care and thought Bethesda's devs initially put into the game with it's environment story telling, and so on,
Starfield had none of that, or very little, on release, so much so, that some mod devs, out right made it known, that they would NOT be making mods for it.
Todd is just creatively bankrupt and cannot stand independent modders making better games on his engine than he does.
