Brandon is building some super high quality rifles at an un-beatable price point. I had the pleasure of shooting his demo rifle at a media event in September. When I purchase my next AK, it will be one of Brandon's AKs. Thanks for the quick review, you do a great job of pointing out the quality of this rifle!
WASR is an excellent weapon which still has the last laugh. The AK Guy is bringing this option as what he wanted in a stock yet quality weapon with a traditional or tactical look for future models with attention to detail. Great review and its a weapon used to fight the fight, built to last, and win a conflict.
I kind of like this a bit better than a WASR since its not an import it didnt have to go through all the ridiculous 922R compliance bullshit meaning you can put whatever Russian or Romanian parts you want on it without violating some asinine law, it has a US made receiver meaning they didnt have to open up the magwell to fit standard AK mags so you'll get more consistent mag fit across all the rifles, you've got attention to detail coming from a truly passionate enthusiast who's putting a lot of money and reputation on the line vs factory workers who wont really face any consequences for making small mistakes in QC, and you get all the military spec components that make the WASR so damn great put together exactly how they should. Im not by any means saying the WASR is bad, but Id rather spend a little more money and support a passionate American building these guns than support a factory in Romania as good as they are. This lets me scratch the AK itch while my money goes into American hands, and its a solid major bonus that they're true enthusiasts of the rifle and the craft
Ghengis Swanson FYI, 922r always applies. This rifle was made with imported Romanian parts and still cannot have more than 10 of those imported parts. And as far as money going to Americans that’s about the same as a wasr. Both rifles are still being brought in from Romania this one simply in parts instead of fully assembled. So either Brandon or Century are making a portion on top of what Romanians get.
I recently started building my Ak's, and I really appreciate this build. This is a beautiful rifle. Looks like they really went the extra mile to do things right. It's very tempting to cut corners building Ak's trust me. Haha.
My first firearm purchase was an AK. A wasr 10 at less than half of what they sell now. Since then I've purchased many others. My favorite variant, though I own many, is the cmmg mutant. Pretty much blasphemy and not considered a true AK, but it takes AK mags and runs like a champ. Super accurate and proves to naysayers the 7.62x39 can handle its own. Far superior to 300blk I'm a sucker for the Russian reds, I may have to check it out
Great stuff! I regret selling my WASR, moments after selling it. Now have the CenturArms AK, a near shadow of the WASR. THANKS for turning me onto the AKG, nice!!👍🏼
It looks like a quality rifle and I would expect no less honestly! Brandon seems to put heart in his builds and it shows! I look forward to getting my own soon and thank you for the video!
I see your AK Guy rifle is stamped LEE ARMORY on the bottom of the receiver in front of the mag well at 2:16 in the video. This is the second one I have seen like this. So they are built by Lee Armory for the akguy otherwise they would have his name and address on them by law. Why is this not disclosed anywhere? Lee has the same guns on their website as well just without the etching. I assume the ak guy puts his stamp on it and does an inspection and viola akguy rifle? Not sure why he claims he is building them.
Beautiful AK you got there Graham! I think you should run her au natural and with no “tactifool” add-ons. It’s just too nice to mess up with lots of extra accessories, but it’s *your* AK, so I say do whatever makes you happy! 😁
This looks like a great competitor to the WASR. I love the cerakote finish. I don't know about their Russian red furniture though. I wish they could collaborate with Soviet Stocks somehow.
