    The writer who came up with the meteor shower causing all kinds of bizarre effects was a genius. One of the great things about Superman comics was that he had to outsmart most opponents rather than just rely on super strength. Super power begs for super villains and the meteor shower provided that in a plausible way.

      I always found this an odd concept seeing that he aged at a normal rate as compared to humans as he did from a baby to his teenage years on the show - it is nowhere implied that his aging would slow as an adult or that he would live longer than a human prior to this.

    The cinematography and lighting are so soft, warm and lovely. It really adds a lot to the nostalgia factor, but it also makes the show feel timeless in a sense. These early seasons are untouchable, which is why Smallville is leagues above every other superhero TV show that has come out since (especially all those awful CW shows).

      @@anonygent Yes that's why I'm comparing it to all those shitty CW shows. I'm not an idiot, I am very much aware. I actually find Clark to be a fairly interesting character, in a show where Lex and Lionel steal the show, it's easy to forget about Clark but Welling does a good job portraying a multifaceted version of the character. Watching his development and growth over the show is gradual and realistic and you cannot say that he overacts!

      @SmallvillenerdTwo 2 года назад +8

      @@anonygent Yes but Clark Kent is an outcast. His super abilities, wide frame and tall stature make him feel insecure for his age as he wants to be a regular person but feels like he always stands out. Which is why he is a much more humble, awkward and "angsty" character. Welling does a good job playing the character with these traits present in his daily life.

    Maybe this explains why he gave up his powers when he had kids? Once he saw they were human he couldn't bear the thought of out living them. I hated that scene in Crisis, but if you think of this vision traumatising him, leaving him with a deeply rooted fear of his own immortality, it actually kinda makes sense. That's my head canon anyway.

    • @abbysands9510
      @abbysands9510 2 года назад +38

      I also hated that Brandon Routh Superman was portrayed as having gray hair. When we have gray hair it means that our cells are no longer making perfect copies of themselves cells when it replicates, but Superman cells can regenerate perfectly making perfect copies of themselves which means he will live forever.

    What a teachable moment the writers missed that I don’t believe the Kent’s would have missed: “Clark, unless you die very young, you will lose people to Death. And people you love may lose you to Death. It makes the time we have together important.
    Even the time we have with people we may only see once. Who knows what kindness you may give them that will help them or touch their hearts? The old story of the dates on the tombstone not being important is true: it’s the dash between them, the hours and years lived that matter.
    If all you do is worry about losing people to dying, then your life will be about trying to cheat what will happen to all of us. Concentrate on living with love and courage and grace.”
    I’d be saying more, too, but I’d hope that this was a subject that my child’s life and mine would have already had witness to.

      True, but I think in Crisis that was a different universe from this one, a universe where Clark gave up his powers. It is like when the Paragon of Humanity convinced the monitor not to do the experiment and when they went to the end of time expecting not to see the anti-monitor they did. The anti-monitor told the gang that although the paragon of humanity successful convinced the monitor of the 616 Universe not to go through with the experiment they would always be a universe where the monitor did go through with it and for that reason he would always be born.

      It's simply blue kryptonite that he's wearing, which blocks his powers. If you notice, they cleverly gave him a watch with a blue face in that scene. And at some point in his universe, it's only inevitable that something so bad will happen that he'll have to take off the watch, cos he can't shake off his responsibility. And boom, he's superman again. And suddenly those visions make sense again.

Even to kryptonite. That one day, he will be able to witness the Sun go supernova...in 5 billion years. Imagine...outliving the people you love by billions of years.

    "Like you don't have an end, like other people. It's like you live forever."
    In DC comics, there was a crossover series called DC One Million, set one million months (about 83,333 years) in the future. Heroes from the 853rd century's Justice Legion A travel back to the 21st century to meet the Justice League of America. When the 21st century JLA travel to the future, they encounter Superman Prime -- the same Superman from their time, having been alive the whole intervening 83,333 years. He'd traveled the universe and across countless dimensions, acquired strange new allies and powers, and returned to live in the heart of the Sun, radiating his powers along with its light to empower countless generations of his Super descendants with the many new powers he'd acquired to help protect the innocent.
    So in at least one version, Clark not only lives for hundreds of centuries, he becomes the source of power for millenia of his descendants to carry on the fight for truth and justice.
    Oh, and the secret reason for Justice Legion A's trip to the 21st century: so that their iteration of Hourman could obtain needed samples to allow Superman to recreate his long-lost love Lois Lane in a form that could live with him in his solar home, reuniting him with the love of his life: i.pinimg.com/originals/82/4e/65/824e65b9af1582984e3a0acabd27bc86.jpg

    Everything is about how you look at it. Seeing the future? Hum. They say that if you could build a computer powerful enough, it'd be able to tell the future and accurately interpret the past, because it could read every possible wave form. There are exceptional humans out there that are incredibly intelligent, talented beyond measure, and so on. What if someone who can see the future is just experiencing a mathematical process, that simply allows them to predict the future and accurately see the past? We always talk about how advanced our technology is, but just how advanced can our thinking be? How would that manifest?

    the whole “heightened senses from blindness” thing is a common trope but inaccurate.
    obviously you pay more attention to your other senses but they are no more sensitive than they had been.

    • @samcarlson6143
      @samcarlson6143 3 года назад +7

      Nah your body makes up for your lost ability. Like people with down syndrome are strong as fuck cause if they weren't then they would be weeded out. Some blind people can use echolocation. Your other senses would take over whatever you don't have.

    • @BigMac8000
      @BigMac8000 3 года назад +8

      I concur with Sam.
      There's studies that prove brain function changes, your ability to process information like language, auditory processing in hearing, touch and taste... it isn't just cognitive awareness, the changes are physical. Your brain changes physically and so does your ability to process information. This is known as Neuroplasticity.
      Additionally "touch" is enhanced in deaf individuals. It isn't just those who underwent training - they did studies on those who'd been born deaf and those who'd developed deafness and found staunch differences in ability to detect puffs of air. They did these studies under an MRI machine for study, and those who'd been born deaf not only should neurological effects they'd gained from Neuroplasticity, they also detected their responses were faster... this suggests a subtle difference in nervous system input. This only occurred in naturally deaf people, indicating that their nervous system was quicker to respond than those who'd developed deafness, suggesting a deeper relationship with Neuroplasticity and nervous system development.
      There's more too - Neuroplasticity often "obscures" objective findings of physical changes, as does the disorientation of newly disabled people making it hard to find such examples, but... they are out there. Neuroplasticity also is likely WHY those senses get better, so you can't extricate the process scientifically as it occurs - but in edge cases you can find examples of objective increases and decreases in hearing ability in patients who got their senses back (cochlear implants) are a great example.
      Anyway just trying to be informative.

    John 8:58 (Jesus speaking)
    Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

    For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, *The everlasting Father,* The Prince of Peace.
    Matthew 1:23
    Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, *God with us.*
    John 1:1 & 14
    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    14 And the Word was made flesh (Lord Jesus), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
    John 8:24 (Jesus speaking)
    I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
    John 14:9 (Jesus speaking)
    Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
    Hebrews 1:1-3, & 8 (God calls His Son "O God" because Jesus IS God in the flesh)
    1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,-
    2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
    3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
    8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
    1 John 5:7
    For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
    Titus 2:13
    Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

    Behold, he cometh with clouds; *and every eye shall see him,* and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
    Isaiah 44:6 (God speaking)
    Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
    Revelation 1:8 (Jesus speaking)
    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, *the Almighty.*
    Revelation 22:13 (Jesus speaking)
    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

    There Are None Righteous / How To Be Saved
    Romans 3:10 & 23
    10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
    23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Luke 5:31-32 (Jesus speaking)
    31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
    32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
    1 Peter 3:18 (The word “quicken” means “to make alive”)-
    For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    Romans 10:9
    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
    Acts 4:12
    Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
    Ephesians 2:8-9
    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:-
    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Repent of your sins or suffer the consequences. Lord Jesus died in our places personally to take the death punishment that sin deserves and then resurrected by the power of God. Believe this and sincerely repent of your sins each time you sin and you will have eternal life and nothing to fear. Fail to repent and you will end up in the Lake of Fire.
