After reading the description: So basically all funds were going to the family but they got so much hate from the community who immediately thought they was profiting from this DLC. Now the family will be getting far less money than what they would have gotten if they had received the profits from the DLC. I fail to see why so many people are calling this a win and congratulating each other. If you had just trusted them to give the profits to the family they would have gotten a much bigger donation. But well done enjoy your free DLC that's what most people seem to be happy about anyway.
Mydogeatsshit Anyone who doesn't donate to the family while saying how scummy this situation was in the first place is a MASSIVE hypocrite. The only reason I didn't get the dlc at first was because it wasn't available in the PlayStation store. But now I shall enjoy it for free while donating double the original amount directly to the family.
So here's what happened. WB tried to set up a charity to help the family. A bunch of greedy youtubers made _monetized videos_ claiming that WB was going to be profiting off of the death of one of their producers. All those youtubers made a shit ton of money off of their click bait videos. Now the DLC is free, and the family will be missing out on all that money - and the youtubers who were complaining about WB profiting off of the death of Michael Forgey all profited off of the death of Michael Forgey at the expense of his family. Great job, youtube. Great job...
If you read the statement from WB, they are making a direct donation to the family. Chances are though, it's less than they would have gotten off of profits for the DLC though.
Well, lets be honest. If the man was a high level dev, his family can't be short on money so I wouldn't get too upset. Providing a link for people to donate at their own discretion seems more sincere in my view
Wait... so... let me make sure I understand what you're saying. Your argument is that because this dev had a good job, we shouldn't be upset that a bunch of greedy youtubers took advantage of his widow to make money, while simultaneously spreading false information saying that WB was making money off of the situation, and ultimately costing his widow a bunch of money. Then why the fuck would anybody be mad at WB in the first place, if it's not bad to take advantage of a grieving widow to earn money, because her husband had a good job before he died? Why do the youtubers get a pass for unquestionably doing exactly what they accused WB of doing, but WB doesn't get a pass, even though they were trying to help the family, and there's no evidence that they were doing anything of the sort to begin with? Do you understand that this fundraiser was supposed to be to pay off Michael Forgey's medical bills for his cancer treatment? This guy wasn't a millionaire. He was a working class dude. A white collar worker, sure. He worked in an office. The average wage of a game producer is $72,798. He was only 43 years old. It's not like he had saved up millions of dollars at a $70,000 a year job by 43. He wasn't a CEO or anything. Monolith started a gofund me. But it had raised less than half of the money needed to pay those bills - mostly through donations from other Monolith employees. The Forgey Family was left with over $300,000 worth of unpaid medical bills that were not covered by their insurance after Michael Forgey died. That's over 4 years salary for this guy. But that doesn't mean it would take 4 years to pay it off. You salary covers your living expenses. If you make $70,000 a year, it generally takes you 15-30 years to pay off a $300,000 debt. And Michael Forgey is dead. So they no longer have that $70,000 a year income to rely on to help them pay off the medical bills - or to pay for everyday living expenses. What I have trouble understanding is why everybody was so quick to jump down WB's throat when there was a rumor that they _might_ be making a profit off of the death of Michael Forgey - but nobody seems to give a fuck that the people who started that rumor unquestionably made thousands of dollars in profit by starting the rumor - which then ended in the Forgey family losing out on all these charitable donations that would have covered their medical expenses!
Mate, relax. I was just saying we needn't get too upset about the money WB refunded to gamers. Those who purchased the DLC because they gave a rat's arse about Forgey's family (and not just because they wanted that badass orc) now have the means to directly donate as well as the ability to easily donate more if they wish. Also, they can't be the only family to have gone through a similar situation. The only difference is that many of those indivduals didn't have a corporate-backed charity drive. In other words, the Forgey family are among the lucky ones regardless of donation money they may have lost. As for why WB got so much flak, they threw what little goodwill they had out of the window when they announced they were putting microtrasactions in the game. As a result, the strategy to raise the money via paid DLC was a stupid PR move. If they had just done THIS in the first place, we wouldn't have any backlash would we? So I suggest blaming WB and their tonedeaf PR department. Also, don't you think accusing these RUclipsrs of 'greed' is twisting the narrative just a little? Sure, it was to further their agenda of consumer advocacy BUT they wouldn't have to advocate for the consumer if WB (and other publishers) wasn't constantly trying to screw the consumer.
1. Read the descripton!!!!!! 2.NOTHING WILL BE FORGOTTEN 3. But maybe some things can be forgiven. Your opinion to this new approach by WB is welcomed :)
Sven Blümel I would not wait for Angry Joe, hes been slow this last months, just watch the first hour of the game in 3 different channels and you are good. Just dont go at farfromsubtle, they are so bad that they stopped playing alien insolation 1 hour in saying its not scary
A+ 100% You win, monolith. I wish it didn't need to be free to prove people wrong, but i'll be damned if they don't shut up now. behind you all the way.
Actually both of you, *NEITHER* company was ever going to profit from a dead friend, they just didnt give out information clearly enough, all purchases of the DLC were originally intended to be donations to the family, they just chose to only talk about the US for some reason. Either way, its free now so its all good.
+Random Demon "Some reason" - Just say it how it is. They did not say it because they tried to scam people. It is that simple. If there is a wish, there is a way, and dont tell me bullshit about how a big company such as this could fuck up on such simple things. They simply got caught and are now bactracking while feeding bullshit that every fanboy will believe.
Andrius Butikis read the description, they didnt talk about more than what they talked about because 'Answering that direct question itself could have triggered compliance obligations or put us in violation of cause marketing laws in some of the 241 territories in which the content was available.' They never tried to scam anyone, they were *NEVER* going to make any profit from this in the first place, get over yourself, its free now.
+Random Demon I read the description, the problem is, it was written by WB. A company that CONSTANTLY LIES to their customers, there is always a way if there is a wish. There have been many charities simmilar like these, and they had no problems with disclosure. It is hard to believe that a monolythic company with a team of lawyers could fuck up this bad (Also, a misinforming tweet being up on their OFFICIAL TIWTTER for one month? GET REAL! IF that was a lie the company would have ended that in a day!) . They did trie to scam people, they WERE going to make profit off it (As it was said BY THEMSELVES FOR A MONTH). Get over yourselves fanboys.
Andrius Butikis Fine if you wont listen to my logic and proof (that i linked in another comment thread as you are on so many of these) show me your proof that you KNOW FOR A FACT they were profiting and scamming people? I thought the way the law worked was innocent until proven guilty, but everyone nowadays seems to think you can claim something and then its the other persons job to prove they are innocent lol
What a great way to honor this man, even though I didn't know him I grew attached to him as a "Mysterious Savior" and after completing the game and watching the amazing tribute that had been put together at the end brought a tear to my eye. My highest praise and respect to you all!
Good man Monolith, you're showing the people a direct way to support the Forgey family and prevented what could've easily have been a disaster to be remembered. Many other developers could learn from you onwards. Same goes to WB. Freaking good on you two.
James Atkins I feel WB were more to blame there. And they do this shit pretty regularly. Still though, will give credit, they tried to fix this. WB don't deserve a free pass just yet however. Thank fuck there's a sane bastard over there, though.
James Atkins I didn't understand the issue. They donated to the family and needed some to pay for making it. I thought it was really cool what they did.
Makes me sad that the gaming community are such babies that they made this much less beneficial to that family and much more complicated than it needed to be. Shame on us all, and my regards go to the family and to Monolith.
Apex Lion yeah, all we had to do was pay a little bit of money so we could immortalize this great man in our game, but noooooo, they made a bad tweet, time to start screeching!
Fact that they wanted to make DLC to give money to family AND earn some for themselves will not deny fact that they added microtransactions into b2p game.
@@Andrius971 Yes, screeching about not getting something for free and using the family as a crutch to further support your argument is being a fucking baby. You are a perfect example of that. You're disgusting.

The third time I thought I was finished, when THIS beauty of an orc came outta nowhere and one me the day! He’s a hero to all, and I’m happy he helped me…
CandyFloof basically youtubers made videos on this saying how scummy they are by selling a dlc and profiting off the death of a colleague without knowing that ALL the money made by this dlc will be going to the mans family . In the end they made the dlc free due to the backlash and made a direct donation which was still a lot but a lot less then what they would’ve made if they still sold the dlc. After that the youtubers laughed while getting thousands of dollars worth of views and ad revenue. Yong yea would be a prime example not even reading the description of this video .
@@parsashirali8957 backlash was from warner advertising it as supporting the family when they where not donating all the money to the family. thats a different thing then being mad a dlc costs money. I never got to know you, Michael Forgey, but the game you helped craft will live on as one of my favorites of all time. Rest in peace, sir, and may Forthog live eternally.
They done it now, and for that we should at least applaud. Reward good behavior and punish bad behavior. So I will at least applaud for the move and say "this is how it should of been done".
They took a step in the wrong direction. The point of this dlc was to raise money for the family who just lost a father and husband. They should not have listened to the loud community of players that just whine all the time. By making this content free, I guarantee they will raise less money than before.
Even when I was trying to have a captain kill me to level them up on purpose. Whenever Forthog would save me I always respected it. Anytime he saved me from the brink of death was an honor, and I appreciate his inclusion till the day I die. God bless Forthog!!!
I was about level 20, fighting a level 46 legendary orc, i couldn’t get hit the entire fight or i would get one shotted, i finally get hit after what felt like a 30 minute fight, then out of no where, Dude gets sliced in half by Forthog, will always remember him.
Rest in peace Michael. This is an amazing tribute. My heart goes out to him and his family and friends. Thank you for saving me several times from Orcs who almost executed me, you are my guardian angel!
I was saved by Forthog after Zog The Eternal came back after his quests were finished and I tried to kill him. I failed due to accidentally hitting square instead of x and Forthog came in and knocked him over and beat him to death. I literally said "Wait... Who the hell are you?" As he said something about it not being my time to die. As of typing this comment, I just finished the game and was met with his tribute during the credits. I never knew Michael, but I couldn't stop myself from crying at how beautiful of a homage it was to him. I wish nothing but the best for his family and May Forthog Orc Slayer, and Michael David Forgey Rest In Peace.
I actually got the orc slayer 1 time in game and my first reaction was that I had to find him and make him my warlord for his actions, I didn't know who I really was until now
You absolute legends. You have proven the haters wrong about monolith. These devs have a heart of gold. They could've just kept it as paid DLC but instead they have realised their mistake and made it free. Thank you Monolith.
Confessor Cromwell it's not monolith who decides about marketing but WB, they just saw that it was the best way to save their reputation so they put it free. Warner is just seeing that they fucked up with the 5$ so they fix it for further benefits. It's business not charity. Monolith created it to honor their mate and warner wanted to take profit of it, that's all.
I'm planning on having Forthog as a character in my own Middle Earth story, helping the Blue Wizards in the east of the continent during the War of the Ring and establishing his own kingdom of Uruk-hai and Olog-hai independent of Sauron.
It didn't take a genius to figure out why this video was made while watching it, and I got pretty emotional as it concluded, no lie. Glad I stuck around the credits to see it.
Not being able to disclose where the donation money from outside the US would be going created outrage that shouldn't have needed to be there, I bought it and received my refund. I will be donating to the family directly now, and I hope Forgey/Forthog's memory can now live on with a little more dignity. calling out despicable deeds in this industry *is* important and many people like rightous indignation, but hopefully this part of the game's controversy can be put aside now. Thank you Monolith. WB i will be keeping a close eye on however.
The sad reality is, this change will almost certainly raise less money for the family. Sad that in 2017 the pendulum has swung so far around that people on the internet would rather feel good about themselves through confected moral indignation than actually help a family. Good on Monolith and WB for their original plan.
I would like to say the reason everyone freaked out about the profits thing is cause people don't understand business law and that it varied country to country, as well on a state basis.
No, people(most of them at least) knew about the 30% platform/licensing costs and were okay with that. What they weren't okay with was how WB refused to explain where 70% of international sales were going other than it wasn't going to the Forgey family. People deserved to know where they're money was going and WB refused to give that information. This entire fiasco is entirely WB's moronic PR team's fault.
Diedkid 145 No it's not there fault that they have to sift through thousands pages of legal Docuements across multiple countries to see if they could direct foreign profits to the family. Laws vary greatly country to country and many countries restrict charitable giving and advertising on it when it involves another country. You cannot say it's their fault when they didn't know, because idiotic governments don't male it easy for them. They can't just assume, because they can be sued.
I'll be ur oni-chan "No it's not there fault that they have to sift through thousands pages of legal Docuements across multiple countries to see if they could direct foreign profits to the family" You're right, it's not their fault that they have to go through all that. It's their fault for being too lazy to go through all that. "You cannot say it's their fault when they didn't know" I can say it's their fault since it's their repsonibilty to know how laws work and to sort it all out before they start the charity event. "They can't just assume, because they can be sued." Assume what? That they can be honest to their consumers? That they should correct false information? That they should tell people where their money is going? Again, all of this should have been settled by the time they made the first announcement of this dlc. But because WB is too lazy to do the actual legal work required to set this charity dlc up, they decided just to release the dlc and withhold information that consumers deserved to know about.
I'll be ur oni-chan Also, just in case you plan on saying something stupid like "how about you try going through all that work?", I'm not the one trying to sell a charity dlc. It's not my job to do that.
WB and Monolith have been incredibly generous with this game, giving out quality content that's totally opt-in and by giving us a finished base-game, they even removed the marketplace despite it really not being that bad when crybaby youtubers like Jim Sterling kicked up a fuss because they're bad at games, they gave us some incredible content for reasonable prices and it makes me disappointed to see people still hounding them because "waaah I have to pay for the new tribes and campaigns in this game with hundreds of hours of content already!". For once a company is fair, honest and makes concessions for the consumer and so called gamers spit in their face while praising skinnerboxes.
I was a bit disappointed when I saw that I had to pay for the tribes, but I was fine with the campaigns and just waited for discounts like a normal human
There should not be microtransactions in a full price game no matter what those microtransactions are, and no matter how good the game is. WB should be ashamed of themselves for ever forcing the devs to stuff lootboxes into a single player full price game where they didn't fit.
@@alexmohr1072 you weren't forced to purchase them, you could if you want it however you did not need to in order to beat the game nor get the full enjoyment of the game.
Great job community, you ruined what could have been a beautiful thing. A special thank you has to go out to Monolith and WB, you tried to do something very sweet, and even in the backlash are still trying.
Кратко и по делу: Хотели как лучше, но восприняли всё не так. 1. DLC будет бесплатным для всех кто купил Тени Войны. 2. Люди купившие DLC получат обратно свои деньги. For people who are confused as to why they reuploaded it they originally uploaded it as the character being DLC to let everybody know that it's a DLC character that they can pay for as the charity will go to the person's family members however they noticed that the purchases outside of the US would not be giving a percentage to the family so instead they decided to drop that and make the character free DLC for everybody and everyone who bought the DLC will be getting a refund and monolith ones that pay out of pocket and there's an option to donate to the familyread the description for more info.
The point of this dlc was to raise money for the family who just lost a father and husband. They should not have listened to the loud community of players that just whine all the time. By making this content free, I guarantee they will raise less money than before.
Did anyone consider the costs of making the dlc, or licensing it, or promoting, or having the ability to sell it on different platforms like Xbox, Playstation, Steam? Or did everyone jump to the conclusion, "Oh, they aren't donating all the money, they're keeping it for themselves those greedy bastards!"
As happy as I am to hear this, this is how it should have been handled in the first place. And I get the feeling that the Donation from WB is more due to the backlash from how the news was received, than a sincere gesture. I mean nothing against Monolith in this, as the majority of DLC and promotional extras is more the publisher's territory, as they funded the game and will be looking to turn as much of a profit as possible.
I don't care for likes, but if you see a comment that says "read the description"," watch the whole video"; like those so that the people who always comment or jump to conclusions before watching the end OF the video can read the comments so before they comment.
Guys, this is a reupload, but notice what HAS changed: "Forthog Orc-Slayer will be a free download for owners of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" Good on you, Monolith. 👏 If only you had done this when it first came out.....oh well.
ThePhantomGamer Unfortunately, I can't. If I'm gonna buy Shadow of War, it's gonna mean blowing all my money. Sorry. :( Though I do trust that you guys have it covered. ;)
So they planned on donating all the profits worldwide, but couldn't publicize it for legal reasons. My fear is that they'll raise less money now than they could have if people just appreciated the fact that they made an attempt to immortalize the guy and raise some money for his family, while possibly profiting themselves. This seems like an incredibly trivial instance of profiting from memorial charity compared to most and I wish the community would have trusted the developers to do what's right, which they planned to do originally. Maybe I'm a little naive, or maybe all the people who talked shit about this DLC are a little too self-righteous and eager to antagonize.
SwearingMudcrab i do agree, I think that Monolith did indeed fucked up on the information part, but they meant to do the right thing and actually help the family
Personally, if they had it for sale at gamestop, I would have bought it anyway just so the money went to his family. Heck, even a micotransaction with the marketplace (and every who buys it that money gets sent to them) sorta deal. Shame the gaming community killed that idea.
I find it weird how they say they weren't allowed to clarify where the money was going and yet were able to spread false information about where the money was going.
SwearingMudcrab I also am thinking this. The family now will be getting far less money than what they would have got because of them making it free now. A lot of people don't seem to see this though and are just happy it's free now.
The reason prak jaws didn't return to shadow of war is because Forthog had a climactic battle with prak, he knew that not even the bright lord himself could stop prak, so it was up to him. They battled each other in the snowy valley, they battled for days on end until finally, forthog had done what no one else could, he had finally put the monster down and saved middle earth from a most gruesome fate. Hopefully now, the bright lord can continue his campaign against sauron with no more interference.
Well I hope the selfish "gamers" who complained that this was a paid dlc (even though all profits were being donated to the family) will donate directly to the family now.
quizkill They wont, go look at some of the comments in other videos, they actually believe they were profiting from it and are using this as a victory against the game
You did no research, did you? It's not selfish, from our perspective they were being selfish. They had an employee publicly state that the money outside of certain US states wasn't going to the family. If this was true, that would have meant that they were being selfish and profiting off of a mans death.
Wasin R. Yes exactly, people made such a shit storm of assumptions and misinformation that they needed to change something from a PR standpoint, this is the state of the games industry nowadays, complain about everything you dont like, even if you dont have all the facts, even if you dont know what you are talking about.
Forthog actually saved me when I was downed the very first time in the game. It was against a no chance captain as well. Idk if the game had a specific algorithm for it or if it was just luck but you couldn't write a better rescue in an action movie script.
This hits me hard everytime but I smile as I'm crying, it's just as if they designed it to his exact wishes and the character still holds his personality in a sense, it's just beautiful and what happened was a tragedy, may Forthog rest.
The song is sung by Michael Forgey, aka Forthog. You can listen to the whole thing here ruclips.net/video/8A77Eyy-fYg/видео.html.

2.NOTHING WILL BE FORGOTTEN
3. But maybe some things can be forgiven.
Your opinion to this new approach by WB is welcomed :)
Sven Blümel I love that lol may be forgiven
Trick Shot Titans Thank you mate appreachiate it :)
Sven Blümel they just need to remove the microtransactions (if they haven't already) and I might pick up the game at launch.
MrPwner911 Id recommend doing already but I feel your concern. Wait for a good review like angry joe or boogey and then then decide. :)
Sven Blümel
I would not wait for Angry Joe, hes been slow this last months, just watch the first hour of the game in 3 different channels and you are good. Just dont go at farfromsubtle, they are so bad that they stopped playing alien insolation 1 hour in saying its not scary

Read the Discription guys they explain it there
A+ 100% You win, monolith.
+Random Demon
"Some reason" - Just say it how it is.
+Random Demon
I read the description, the problem is, it was written by WB.
I have been saved by him once and i still havent forgotten it may the who inspired this character rest in piece
James Atkins yeah but there will be sadly the ones who jump to conclusions before watching the whole video.
James Atkins
I didn't understand the issue. They donated to the family and needed some to pay for making it. I thought it was really cool what they did.
Just Josh Stating that donations would only apply in certain states in the US is ok to you?
James Atkins I agree
Read the description first guys.
When i first finished the game and i saw this cutscene and why his character was introduced i started genuinely crying
This is what multiclassing barbarian and bard in D&D looks like
That guy is a legend. He will be forever in our hearts.
Makes me sad that the gaming community are such babies that they made this much less beneficial to that family and much more complicated than it needed to be. Shame on us all, and my regards go to the family and to Monolith.
Yes, because being angry at scams is being a "baby", these fucking fanboys i swear.
Andrius Butikis 10/10 example. Thank you sir.
“Well I won't back down, no I won't back down

I love how hole some this comment section is still. Rip mike “forthog” forgey. Still bringing joy to those on the precipice of death.
It's 2020 and the internet has new label for these asshole. We call them Angry Gamers™
I had a whole rebellion led against me, I was downed twice while being surrounded by orcs I once called friends, one time being saved by my bodyguard. The third time I thought I was finished, when THIS beauty of an orc came outta nowhere and one me the day! He’s a hero to all, and I’m happy he helped me…
I will never forgive the internet for what they did . You all should be ashamed
What happened?
CandyFloof basically youtubers made videos on this saying how scummy they are by selling a dlc and profiting off the death of a colleague without knowing that ALL the money made by this dlc will be going to the mans family . In the end they made the dlc free due to the backlash and made a direct donation which was still a lot but a lot less then what they would’ve made if they still sold the dlc. After that the youtubers laughed while getting thousands of dollars worth of views and ad revenue. Yong yea would be a prime example not even reading the description of this video .
The internet: *ruins a good act they attempted*
Calibrimbor: YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF HIS BLADE!
@@parsashirali8957 backlash was from warner advertising it as supporting the family when they where not donating all the money to the family. thats a different thing then being mad a dlc costs money.
So tl;dr
Warner used a mans death to boost sales of a dlc by lying it was a charitable act. Likely they donated less then profits made if this marketing scam worked as intended.
@@coldeed It's almost like they need to pay the people that work for then, it's content that needs to be modeled, programed, and voiced, it costs money and people need to be paid
I should be the dlc
Ratbag shut up ratbag
Ratbag, Yes you should be a DLC because what happened to you the last game was not fully investigated. Im thinking you survived, and is now running around the black gate area. Waiting for the Gravewalker to show up and to help you rise to power again.
Ratbag No you should be FREE. Fuck garbage dlc
Ratbag wants to be overlord
Ratbag You'll be in the mobile game, is that good enough?
AZ- LAAR THE DESTORYER DLC RIGHT NOW
Virtual Bones az laar isn't based off of a person. This is a charity dlc
I didn't mean it any offense, sorry if any was taken.
he's already in the game.....you will just have to spend a few hours trying to manipulate the game into spawning him.
There is an easter egg of him (possible at the fort where he died) I am 95% sure
Demolisher not destoryer
Glad to see this, hope that people take the time to read the description.
I never got to know you, Michael Forgey, but the game you helped craft will live on as one of my favorites of all time. Rest in peace, sir, and may Forthog live eternally.
Lvl 34 overlord, I was lvl 25 at the time, I didn't stand a chance, but then forthog appeared, we will never forget Michael
GOOD PR MOVE, glad that WB took a step in the right direction.
That's not a good PR move, that's damage control. It'd be a good PR move if they had done it from the start.
It would have been an even better PR move if they did this weeks ago immediately.
ofc, it would of been better to do this from the start, but at least its something good
They done it now, and for that we should at least applaud.
That's so cool... What a awesome way to honor your friend. RIP Forgey
I wish we could recruit him though
I was about level 20, fighting a level 46 legendary orc, i couldn’t get hit the entire fight or i would get one shotted, i finally get hit after what felt like a 30 minute fight, then out of no where, Dude gets sliced in half by Forthog, will always remember him.

Rest in peace Michael. This is an amazing tribute. My heart goes out to him and his family and friends. Thank you for saving me several times from Orcs who almost executed me, you are my guardian angel!
I didn't know this man at all, but I cry a few tears for him whenever I see this scene. Long live Forthog, the Orc-Slayer!
I wish nothing but the best for his family and May Forthog Orc Slayer, and Michael David Forgey Rest In Peace.
kudos where kudos is due, WB & Monolith. Reanimating/updating the game footage is also appreciated.
I actually got the orc slayer 1 time in game and my first reaction was that I had to find him and make him my warlord for his actions, I didn't know who I really was until now
This chad saved my life, killing an orc that was fireproof, arrowproof, and vault proof. Rest in piece, Michael.
"You owe a debt Ranger i expect you to pay it"
Thanks Michael for your hard work in the making of this amazing game.
Forthog Orc-Slayer forever.
I was born the same year as Michael and just finished the game as saw his tribute. Pretty awesome, best part of the game. 🤘
He saved me once. I owe many to him. You will be remembered forever, Forthog/Michael
You absolute legends. You have proven the haters wrong about monolith. These devs have a heart of gold. They could've just kept it as paid DLC but instead they have realised their mistake and made it free. Thank you Monolith.
Confessor Cromwell yeh :)
Bilbo Baggins Why should he stop? He can criticise any game he wants.
I'm so happy. Thanks Monolith.
Monolith are cool guys, but WB's strategy sucks
This is gonna be GOTY fellas
I'm hype for the game. I'm sure they'll be other great contenders too so I'm not totally serious.
vin 950 u can go fuck ur self with ur negativity. We have seen enough gameplay and I agree too that this might be goty.
I think I'd drive myself insane if I took comments seriously online lol
vin 950 shut the fuck up you little zit on Earth's ass
vin 950 I’ll gladly take their loads
I will not only get the game, but make a donation equal to the price of the game(gold ed) to the family.
hazza3 That's very generous of you. I applaud it.
Thank you
I'm planning on having Forthog as a character in my own Middle Earth story, helping the Blue Wizards in the east of the continent during the War of the Ring and establishing his own kingdom of Uruk-hai and Olog-hai independent of Sauron.
Duruza the donation pool goes from thousands to hundreds
Yea, but we had literally no proof that they weren't profiting off of this.
@@mcguyman8088 We would if we did some fucking research.

Playing this game through for 2nd time and was just saved by him. He will forever be remembered.
I'm donating double the DLC cost to Forgeys family, RIP Micheal Forgey, May You Rest In Peace And Per Audacia Ad Astra...
I would like to say the reason everyone freaked out about the profits thing is cause people don't understand business law and that it varied country to country, as well on a state basis.
I'll be ur oni-chan That's mostly because mob mentality tends to kill intelligent thought.
@@WCRyder Same, tho I waited for free tribes too

This guy saved me yesterday! Thank you Forthog!
The Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC will now be FREE!
Bilbo Baggins yeah 70% of the profits. Monolith keeps 30%
The point of this dlc was to raise money for the family who just lost a father and husband. They should not have listened to the loud community of players that just whine all the time. By making this content free, I guarantee they will raise less money than before.
quizkill the reason people are angry is because the company keeps 30% of the profits generated from the DLC.
Saturn when will this be out gang?
As happy as I am to hear this, this is how it should have been handled in the first place. And I get the feeling that the Donation from WB is more due to the backlash from how the news was received, than a sincere gesture. I mean nothing against Monolith in this, as the majority of DLC and promotional extras is more the publisher's territory, as they funded the game and will be looking to turn as much of a profit as possible.
I'm just glad this whole mess is over. It really didn't have to be this way, they just had to be transparent.
Forthog is probably the best random game mechanic to ever exist
God Bless the Orc Slayer. RIP the man that inspired Forthog.

Bumped into ol' Forthog today, for the first time. This is the coolest thing ever.
Finally came about to playing the game and remembered this video

Well done, faith restored and all the best for the Forgey family.
Get ready for the "Guess I'll buy the game now" comments..
Well I hope the selfish "gamers" who complained that this was a paid dlc (even though all profits were being donated to the family) will donate directly to the family now.
quizkill
They wont, go look at some of the comments in other videos, they actually believe they were profiting from it and are using this as a victory against the game
You did no research, did you?
It's not selfish, from our perspective they were being selfish. They had an employee publicly state that the money outside of certain US states wasn't going to the family. If this was true, that would have meant that they were being selfish and profiting off of a mans death.
Did the internet just make the developer feel so bad for doing nothing wrong that they give away this dlc for free???
Wasin R. Yes exactly, people made such a shit storm of assumptions and misinformation that they needed to change something from a PR standpoint, this is the state of the games industry nowadays, complain about everything you dont like, even if you dont have all the facts, even if you dont know what you are talking about.
The DLC was always supposed to be free they have stated that a million times
Corey Zawaski then some one died
Austin Smith the dev died before they made the dlc, it was made to honour him

Forthog actually saved me when I was downed the very first time in the game. It was against a no chance captain as well. Idk if the game had a specific algorithm for it or if it was just luck but you couldn't write a better rescue in an action movie script.
I am so glad they are now giving everything to the family and it's going world wide
Good move.
