The work she's had suits her. There is something off about the nose job, but that might just be makeup. I think she looks good, just wildly different from her original face. I think so much of our unique identity is attached to our faces, and that's why people are less likely to talk about their face work.
It’s the way she contours her nose. She’s always done the contour really close in down the bridge of her nose. It gives it a cute look from a distance but up close it can look odd lol
She looked so cute before and unique in a good way. I loved her freckles, but I know a lot of people who have freckles and were harassed because of it. Now freckles are kinda popular, I’ve ironically seen people get freckle tattoos, but that trend has calmed down a bit now. Beauty standards sure can be fickle. I don’t think she looks bad now. I personally think she should’ve stopped at 2018. The brow lift and the buccal fat was too much. it’s starting to get to that point where it’s overkill, just too much work done.

Lorry Hill is not a professional like him. She did not go to school to become a plastic surgeon. She just speculates. And her audience takes her words for it.
SZA is and was absolutely stunning! Of course it is her choice as to whether or not she has plastic surgeries. My concern is younger women getting these surgeries that they don't need. I feel that celebrities are often pressured into pursuing an ideal of perfection; which can be a dangerous pursuit. It is how we feel in our own skins. In one of her songs, SZA sings: "leave me lonely for prettier women". When I heard these lyrics it cut deep. I asked myself who the hell is prettier than you, SZA?? I just hope that she loves herself as much as we love her, and as much as we love her music. The effects of some surgeries are difficult to reverse! Thank you Dr.Linkov for appreciating different ethnic features.

This popped up in my feed after watching a classic SZA video Babylon. I am going to speak as if judgmental of her and those who do this, but I am really judging our culture as trash. It really breaks my heart, that she had this work done. She was beautiful the way her DNA made her. Truly gorgeous in her more natural state(aside from added hair). When she was first on the scene, I was relieved to see her phenotype being on display and recognized as beautiful. That song- Babylon- seems to be the writing on the wall that from the first she was on this trajectory. Self-hate is a h** of a drug. Vanity culture makes the medicine go down. I am about to go down the rabbit hole with these videos of yours now. I know it's not only Black people who get these augmentations, but it always stings me extra sharply when certain ethnic markers that have long been maligned- yes maligned, not just said to be ugly traits but also markers of negative character- are removed. All of this goes deeper than just beauty standards.

I've never seen sza before this. She's absolutely gorgeous. The only type of plastic surgery I get a little sad about is anything affecting the shape of the eye too much. For example, Gwen Stephani. If it makes you happy that's totally fine and SZA is obviously still beautiful, but some eye surgeries leave the eyes looking more "stretched" and "flat" if not done right. Probably because the eyes are the center of the face, it's more noticeable when there are changes and sometimes it leaves you like a whole different person.
I love it when you review ethnic transformations. 😍Very few represent us and It takes a well experienced surgeon to do it right! Your reviews speaks to how knowledgeable you are! Thank you!
It's easy for us to say "she was so beautiful before! Why did she do this?" A.) Body Autonomy (do what you want!) B.) Industry pressures Either way I hope she feels good about how she looks.
How much autonomy do you REALLY have when you are brainwashed and pressure by such a toxic culture and industry? If she was on an island would she want to get these surgeries??
is it really "body autonomy" when she feels COMPELLED to get body enhancements based on how she perceives the social beauty standard? i don't see that as autonomy, I see that as coercion of the insecure.
@user-qr3ys3ud5s same I hated my nose I wanted a doll-like nose or like the nose I saw on white girls in tumblr. Years passed by, I started loving myself and decolonized my beauty standards too. And I love my nose. It looks so beautiful in my face. I don't try to look like anybody else and that has really made me comfortable with my appearance.
I find your explanations fascinating. I've noticed over the years the brow/fox eye lifts, cheek filler/implants, buccal fat removal, nose changes, etc are giving everyone the same face.
I think the issue is identity and branding. Their face is their identity. And most brand themselves as unique, authentic, and proud. That's harder if you change your face to fit current trends. Also, while body changes are usually about weight and fitness, facial changes are generally about age. Most really successful older people in entertainment established their brand in their youth. Their youth is often part of their brand. Fighting to retain youth is part of what they do to create and maintain their public persona. Most of entertainment is based on pretending they don't have one, that we can learn who they really are through interviews and performances.
I am _no expert whatsoever,_ but I think the reason people are more forthcoming about body plastic surgeries than with facial plastic surgeries is because our identities are tied more heavily to our faces than to our bodies. Our eyes through which we see the world are on our face. We see faces in the mirror every day and while not everyone owns a full-length mirror, almost everyone is guaranteed to have a face mirror in their bathroom. When we go out, most of our bodies are covered in clothes but our face is still uncovered, presented to the world. (Exceptions being masks, sunglasses, etc., but we are still used to our faces being unclothed and the main representation of ourselves) So even though both our bodies and our faces are reflections of our identity and we try to mold them to better fit who we are, it is natural for us to be more self-conscious of changes we make to the facial area.
@@alexj9608 And thin noses are a common European feature. White people still get nose jobs😂😩No one ever really needs cosmetic work done but they do. Blacc Chyna and Chinese Kitty are two black women that I know of you got lip filler. People want the extremes these days.
I think celebrities have an issue with admitting to facial work because it directly addresses age. With one's body they can hide it, talk about weight gain, weight loss, insecurities, etc, but with the face its directly and immediately tied in to age. It's scary to see some celebrities defy age just by getting "work" done around their eyes. That housewife Kyle Richards holds the secret to ageing under the eyes. She would be an interesting case.
I see SZA in the media a lot and she’s a gorgeous talented girl but I literally could not help my curiosity regarding her face every time I’ve seen her so I had to google and here we are lol … she’s a whole vibe and I wish her nothing but the best but girl please be careful with that surgery because you’re only 33 … it’s such a rocky road to go down starting very young
...y'all forgot about how people freaking spoke about her appearance and weight?? It's no secret AT ALL why she chose to do this. I'm confused about how y'all are confused. Are we experiencing the same racist, vain society? lol
I think a lot of Celebrities don’t admit to face work being done because deep down inside, they know that they are perfectly fine the way they are- there’s a level of guilt (and perhaps some shame) that comes with saying to yourself (and others) that you’re convinced you need to look as close to “perfect” as possible, albeit a completely absurd notion. Something whispers into their subconscious that says this face they were born with is not “good” enough. Also, 99.9 percent of the time, they were beautiful completely Natural & untouched. Lil Kim is a great example of someone who was absolutely Beautiful exactly as they naturally were.
That's crazy. I couldn't put my finger on what was so good about SZA's pre-surgery face and the Doctor explained it...her face had damn there perfect symmetry before!
I think why people admit their body changes but lie about the facial ones is the main reason people get them, because they aren't happy with their faces, with what they look like, your body is "just your body" but your face is your face, what people identify you with, when you think of a person you think of their face not their body and to admit to changed your face is to admit you hated it in the first place, aka, they hated themselves and admitting that is hard as hell.
I think most people are more open to admitting body work because it’s more widely accepted but more discreet about facial work because they want to give the impression that their beauty is natural
A lot of people are making great points about why celebrities admit to body work more than face work, I'll add mine: I think people who are against plastic surgery, see body work as a "shortcut" amd face work as "cheating"
She looks great but haters that are broke will say she looks terrible because they don't have the money themselves to give themselves the confidence they wish they could lol
It’s not confidence to go under the knife repeatedly and change every insecurity you have with plastic surgery lol. There have been many documented cases of people using it as a shortcut to love themselves, but then constantly go in for more and more changes cuz they’re not really addressing their underlying issues
Changes to the face are often delicate and personal and are stigmatized as showing a lack of self-esteem and ethnic pride whereas body changes portrait a desire to be liked and accepted which is a feeling everyone can relate to, that's why celebrities don't shy away from discussing it because at best it turns into a discussion about society's difficult beauty standards for women and the pressure they undergo. I think the public is more "forgiving" of body work as opposed to facial surgeries that alters someone's most defining feature, their face.
in my opinion, people try to have a word for something that's not their business A LOT these days. if you're a public figure, obviously, people will study all of your steps and have an opinion, but why do people need to bash her (talking about some comments and social media posts i've seen)? it's her decision after all. she has always had unique features and i think she is really pretty after all. SZA is an amazing singer and dancer, i love and appreciate her music so much!
Sometimes Celebrrites are contractually obligated to get surgery to fit a certain industry aesthetic and also forced to either straight up deny or just talk around it because they can't talk about the contents of the contracts. That's why every rap girl that goes main stream either pops up with a bbl or surgery.
@@Codenamelana there have been rap girls that have came out and spoken about them having contractual obligations to get surgery and never talk about it.
I think people are more reluctant to talk about any work done to areas they grew up feeling very self conscious or embarrassed about and that is usually facial features. I also think losing and gaining weight, as well as makeup and skincare can improve one’s facial appearance so much that they think they can fool the average person into believing the changes are natural or just enhanced with makeup and skincare techniques.
SZA honestly is one of those surgery stories that actually went RIGHT. She was naturally beautiful before and beautiful with the moderate enhancement without it being over done. Can’t say the same for many others in the industry that look terrible afterwards 🤷🏾♀️
Idk it seems obvious if you knew what she looked like before. She looks sort of completely different but I didn’t know her before the surgery really so her now is most of what I know. Princess the same for other fans too
I never saw her before but I have found her face very off putting and uncanny valley. This video validated my sense of it just being so weird looking. I knew it had to be highly altered or I was just crazy. She looked great, human before.
This video adds another meaning to her song Blind. I always saw her as very beautiful and ethereal but I understand the pressures of the industry she’s in. I always hope she has a good support system around. ❤️
What is strange to me is how many (not all) of these celebrities end up aging much quicker after getting work done on their face. And I wonder why that is because some women get procedures done and they look gorgeous (with or without the procedures) just in a different way.
She’s absolutely beautiful. I loved her old nose, honestly. As someone who is also of African descent, I love my ethnic nose and features. I think they are beautiful. I guess she felt more mainstream and appealing with the cosmetic surgery. For me, I wouldn’t change my ethnic features, just do some maintenance, since I’ve just turned 40. If I had the money, I would get some body work done like SZA lol I need a full body lift after losing over 100lbs of weight. 😬
I noticed that chin was getting so pointy. She was so adorably attractive and just looks crazy to me. Everybody looks exactly same now with these surgeries.
Celebrities admit body change, in my opinion, it's less important than a face, as they need .maybe to have a perfect face considered natural, it's their brand. The body seems to be less vital. I might be wrong, this is just the first thought.
She looks good now but it's that baddie look you see everyone on Instagram has... The older pics had me shook, she looked so good and natural I can't explain kt
It’s also important to note that in our community(the black community) “lace fronts” are common so the hairline placement can most definitely be adjusted or completely changed.
I think facial plastic surgery is treated with more secrecy because of how much we associate someone’s face with their identify. You might assume that the person themself isn’t “real” if their face isn’t “real.” I also think that women, in particular, face so much pressure to be eternally “naturally” beautiful. I think there’s a shame we receive publicly and likely internalize around wanting that beauty so badly (so badly that you would surgery alter yourself). Those are my guesses. I don’t share those views btw-I’ve had a nose job and feel more like myself now than I did before I had it.
It’s like the more work they get done the less appealing they are to me. She’s gotten her body done too. She was way prettier before all of this surgery. It’s like the relatability leaves after they start drastically changing stuff about themselves.
She used to be so beautiful in unique way. It's not a typical beauty standard but she has such unique facial features that looks natural and flawless. Now she literally looks like every typical filtered woman in social media living in toxic judgements and beauty standards
The chin looked sharper again after the buccal fat removal. I think people feel better about admissions on the body because changing your face seems to imply you were either “ugly” or don’t love/accept yourself. Not to mention most facial adjustments for women of color are typically considered attempts to meet white beauty standards but who knows 🤷🏾♀️
@@thabokgwele5268 Because there’s no perfect face. Throwing money at surgeons to chop you up doesn’t make insecurity go away. It’s not addressing the root issue: a lack of self love. If Tracy hates her face and wants a surgeon to give her Kiesha’s features, any happiness that comes from it will be shallow and short lived. Because Tracy never learned to love herself. She coveted Keisha’s features. Surgical intervention doesn’t foster self love or acceptance. By definition, you’re no longer yourself. And that doesn’t even touch on the larger implication that African features (in the case of most black women in the industry who go under the knife) are undesirable and should be anglicized to be seen as even moderately attractive. It’s pitiful. And harmful.
SZA was so pretty! She’s still really pretty and I’m glad she didn’t botch her face. But I believe the chin implant, brow lift, and definitely the buccal fat removal didn’t do her face any favors. Glad she took the chin implant out. Hopefully she stops. She’s gorgeous ❤

Agreed! I couldn't believe she had gotten so much work done. She looked so good before now she was starting to like an alien around 4:01. It's a shame. She was fine.

👌
I am _no expert whatsoever,_ but I think the reason people are more forthcoming about body plastic surgeries than with facial plastic surgeries is because our identities are tied more heavily to our faces than to our bodies.
Our eyes through which we see the world are on our face. We see faces in the mirror every day and while not everyone owns a full-length mirror, almost everyone is guaranteed to have a face mirror in their bathroom. When we go out, most of our bodies are covered in clothes but our face is still uncovered, presented to the world. (Exceptions being masks, sunglasses, etc., but we are still used to our faces being unclothed and the main representation of ourselves)
So even though both our bodies and our faces are reflections of our identity and we try to mold them to better fit who we are, it is natural for us to be more self-conscious of changes we make to the facial area.
"I am no expert whatsoever" as if anyone that isn't a literal child couldn't come up with this conclusion. Common sense.

She was really naturally beautiful. It's a shame that she couldn't see that about herself, but I guess you never do.
A wise one once said that "You never know how beautiful you look to a stranger" 🎈
Same thing happened to Lil Kim. Women have serious low self esteem issues.
It's difficult to admit to hating/being dissatisfied with your old face?
Thank you for your honesty. Everyone is praising her and being PC. There is certainly dissatisfaction about ones face to do this.
I think most people are more open to admitting body work because it’s more widely accepted but more discreet about facial work because they want to give the impression that their beauty is natural
A lot of people are making great points about why celebrities admit to body work more than face work, I'll add mine:
I think people who are against plastic surgery, see body work as a "shortcut" amd face work as "cheating"
I guess body shape is seen as more naturally changeable. So it's less weird if the body changes than if the facial features change.
Great way to put it. I also feel body work is depersonalized compared to face work. Also more normalized
I feel the opposite. People will die on a hill about not getting a BBL but will admit to getting their breasts, nose and lips done.
i personally like the work she had done, esp around 2018 🤷♀ she went from pretty to one of the most stunning artists today imo
No seriously! She looks very good it’s not overdone
Oh so you prefer the squished mutilated nose to her natural ethnic features? Feels kinda racist lol
"most stunning artist today" looks like she wearing that mask from that Jim Carrey movie
Not people still thinking it’s just a “good nose contour” 💀
Changes to the face are often delicate and personal and are stigmatized as showing a lack of self-esteem and ethnic pride whereas body changes portrait a desire to be liked and accepted which is a feeling everyone can relate to, that's why celebrities don't shy away from discussing it because at best it turns into a discussion about society's difficult beauty standards for women and the pressure they undergo. I think the public is more "forgiving" of body work as opposed to facial surgeries that alters someone's most defining feature, their face.
Hearing Dr Linkov read the lyrics to Conceited 😂 made my day
Same lol. Love that song
in my opinion, people try to have a word for something that's not their business A LOT these days. if you're a public figure, obviously, people will study all of your steps and have an opinion, but why do people need to bash her (talking about some comments and social media posts i've seen)? it's her decision after all. she has always had unique features and i think she is really pretty after all.
They aren't forced they just know that look is what sell and what people want. It what is socially attractive.

Celebrities admit body change, in my opinion, it's less important than a face, as they need .maybe to have a perfect face considered natural, it's their brand. The body seems to be less vital. I might be wrong, this is just the first thought.
I love the BEFORE.
she looked better prior
She’s look pretty always
@@queenlii4334 I'm allowed to disagree...I hugely disagree.
@@smudgeeee6259 I am with you. She looked better before. More natural.
@@queenlii4334 how are they a hypocrite?
She looks good now but it's that baddie look you see everyone on Instagram has... The older pics had me shook, she looked so good and natural I can't explain kt
Finally!!! She looks so different from when she just started!!!
If females can get all these surgeries than guys can get hairline transplants
She highlights and contours her nose heavily so I don’t think her nose changed but definitely her jaw and chin has been done
Wow she was much much prettier before the work
She certainly wasnt lol
@@mori2039lmaooo 😂 💀 the brutal honesty
@@mori2039 She definitely was
I think she looks much better afterwards. These assessments are subjective and we're not all going to agree. Let's hope she likes her results.
Or better yet she looked as pretty before and after the work.
Omgee I had no idea she had so much work done 🤯 she's beautiful now, and beautiful before the work.
It’s like the more work they get done the less appealing they are to me. She’s gotten her body done too. She was way prettier before all of this surgery. It’s like the relatability leaves after they start drastically changing stuff about themselves.
Yes she lost her "girl next door" appeal.
@@ladinai90 idk to each to own I think she looks amazing regardless and she seems happy
@@lisavanderpump7475 I agree. All these things can be true at once
She used to be so beautiful in unique way. It's not a typical beauty standard but she has such unique facial features that looks natural and flawless. Now she literally looks like every typical filtered woman in social media living in toxic judgements and beauty standards
*to you
The chin looked sharper again after the buccal fat removal. I think people feel better about admissions on the body because changing your face seems to imply you were either “ugly” or don’t love/accept yourself. Not to mention most facial adjustments for women of color are typically considered attempts to meet white beauty standards but who knows 🤷🏾♀️
That part.
Is there something wrong with implying that you were dissatisfied with your old look though?
@@thabokgwele5268 Reread the second sentence in the original post.
@@What_Shaniquas_Into Yes, my question is what's wrong with not accepting yourself if you have the money to change it?
She was already drop dead gorgeous in 2016 😌💕
^^^
Looks good
I’m getting some work done myself
SZA was so pretty! She’s still really pretty and I’m glad she didn’t botch her face. But I believe the chin implant, brow lift, and definitely the buccal fat removal didn’t do her face any favors. Glad she took the chin implant out. Hopefully she stops. She’s gorgeous ❤
IMO She was SOOO pretty before. The after look, is starting to look artificial. Who is convincing these beautiful celebs that these procedures are ‘enhancing’?
I’m not knocking cosmetic surgery. I’m ALL for it, provided it’s actually improving peoples ‘ratios/beauty’.
Agreed! I couldn't believe she had gotten so much work done. She looked so good before now she was starting to like an alien around 4:01. It's a shame. She was fine.
She's a hollywood star. Are you serious? lol she literally has the money to do whatever the fuck she wants
@@bluevelveteenvelveteen5038 yes! 😔
You said it
Stigma!
Getting body work isn't frowned upon. Facial work is like saying you are trying to combat ugly and age.
Although that's not normally true, it's how the person feels.
She was so, so beautiful in that 2016 picture.
Not that she’s not beautiful now.
But she was such a natural Beauty.
