Loved the information you provided on the lumber. Starting out so many people get caught up with cheap materials and that’s fine. Sometimes it isn’t worth it and I learned that lesson many many times lol.

Definitely true mate, Im not keen on reclaimed scaffold boards but they do look nice once wax is applied.

Absolutely agree about reclaimed scaff boards. For the extra cost its just worth buying new now. However, like you said, if the customer wants reclaimed, there is nowt you can do. Good work once again Team Pope.

I'm actually looking at making a tv stand for our garden room as I can't find anything that will cover the sockets (electrician put them in at 52cm high and most tv units are around 40-50cm high so they remain visible). Another great build and good timing as well as I’m in need of something similar! Reclaimed pallet/scaffold projects are the pain of my life when making things, you know when you miss taking a nail out and run it through the table saw! I try encourage customers to buy new boards instead now as they’re pretty cheap. Win some lose some!

Great project for those trying to sell their work locally, and easy to offer in multiple sizes; thumbs up for the plan! Like the dark wax finish. (Do you make your own?)
And would it help to pressure wash the scaffold boards first? I have not tried to put any through good tools.
BTW, I enjoyed watching. Interesting to include your family. I also liked the speed of the video. Well done. I actually had to pause and change the playback speed to .75 to understand your accent, lol, but even then, the speed of the video didn't suffer a bit or drag. Good production! Hope you get the subscribers you deserve!

Thanks mate that's really good feedback and much appreciated. We use fiddes wax sold here in the UK and as far as the plans Jakob is working hard at learning sketchup. A simple build that looks great. Just shows you don’t need fancy joinery and really expense tools / machines to make a good piece of furniture. I have the same mitre saw as you and no matter what I do I struggle to get it to cut square, any guidance would be appreciated?

Oh, I'd not considered the extra filth and detritus to harm your tools on old boards! If you had the space, it would be worth stocking up on new ones and rack them to dry them to furniture grade so they're ready when needed. Also requires spare money as well as space :)
