    Found out about them because of leave it in my dreams and when the album came out i played it about 3 times in one day. The weird thing about the album is when you start listening to it its really hard not to listen to the whole thing.

      Meet The Band welcome to the bandwagon dude, I loved them being my dirty secret for years but the more exposure the better. This music needs to be heard. Blessings, One Love

      I've been listening to them for a few years because I love Julian's work, but wasn't as big of a fan until the new singles started dropping. I agree more people need to hear them, and I think this album is helping with that!

    A nice introduction to The Voidz. However, I must disagree about your statement, that Virtue has no fillers - your song of choice for the closing of this video is an example of that, and in my opinion, one of the blandest songs in The Voidz catalogue.

    • @MeetTheBand
      @MeetTheBand  6 лет назад +5

      That's a fair statement. While there are some weaker tracks on the album, I don't think any of the songs were created to fill out the album, it's long enough that that's unnecessary. Each track is pretty distinct and they seem to be artistic choices even if some of them aren't as good as the majority of the record. Pink Ocean, for example, is one I do enjoy even if you disagree, but I definitely don't think it's one of the stronger tracks, I just thought it was good outro music without too much going on. Overall the album seems to be a cohesive piece of work.

    • @19RaxR91
      @19RaxR91 6 лет назад +1

      Well, I must admit, that I was quick to give my perspective, without questioning the correct terminology too much. While I stand by my opinion about the songs blandness (from youtube reviews Ive watched, I might be in the minority there), going by your logic, I will call it a throwaway track instead of a filler.
      And I still stand by my opinion, that this video is well made, and informative. I will check out if youve done some of my other favorite artists.

    • @MeetTheBand
      @MeetTheBand  6 лет назад +1

      No problem, I understand where you're coming from. This is only the second video in this series. If there's any other artists you think I should do, please let me know.

    • @19RaxR91
      @19RaxR91 6 лет назад +1

      If I figured it out right, this series is meant to represent lesser known artists, who could use all the exposure they can get?!
      If thats the case, then my suggestions are Gazelle Twin (UK), No Joy (CAN), Car Bomb (USA), Tamaryn (NZ), Jakob (NZ), Rishloo (USA) and Drab Majesty (USA).
      If the series also covers artists, who no longer make music, or arent with us anymore, my suggestion is The Angelic Process (USA) and Textures (NL).
      You asked ^_^

    • @MeetTheBand
      @MeetTheBand  6 лет назад +2

      The main idea was just supposed to be like your friend or someone telling you a bit about a band you may or may not know so you can decide if it's something you might like. Introducing people to bands of all sizes (mostly medium to large at first) and providing a nice little history of the band for their fans. I'm gonna start with bands I already know a lot about, but I will keep yours in mind for the future and be sure to check those groups out!

  • @thytoe
    @thytoe 6 лет назад +2

    Great video, you pronounced tyranny wrong though

    • @MeetTheBand
      @MeetTheBand  6 лет назад

      I thought about that when recording, but I think there's two acceptable ways of saying it. Think of the word 'tyrant' that's said 'tie-rant' not 'tear-ant.' Thanks for watching.

    • @thytoe
      @thytoe 6 лет назад +5

      Hmm, pronounce it how you please but the official pronunciation is 'tear any'.

    • @Niznuts123
      @Niznuts123 6 лет назад +1

      Joesterino people pronounce it in different ways though. Sure it may not be right but doesn’t it really matter? We all have different tongues. I my self can’t pronounce certain words correctly even if I tried.

    • @thytoe
      @thytoe 6 лет назад +1

      You're probably right, I'm just a bit of a grammar Nazi to be honest.

    I love anything that has to do with Julian Casablancas, but I hate how political he's been with Future, Present, Past EP and now with Virtue (especially the song Pyramid of Bones and AlieNNation). The main reason this bothers me is because if your spreading your opinion on a current event in an album than the value of that album will not hold up overtime. For example, if I made a song bashing a public figure than in 50 years people wouldn't understand what I was talking about. This also contradicts Julian's statement about wanting this album to appeal to everyone, Because don't you think this album wouldn't go down well with somebody with opposing opinions? I really hope Julian turns the direction of his song writing around in whatever he decides to do next. Loved the video by the way, this is some high quality stuff man!

    • @MeetTheBand
      @MeetTheBand  6 лет назад +7

      Thank you! I also agree with your points here. If you're trying to make art that will be lasting you have to try not to date yourself too much. If you really want to be political, you can be abstract and speak to overarching ideas rather than specific events. You should avoid being too specific about modern technology, especially with how fast it moves now. If you hear a song mention a telegram, that's how dated something like Instagram could sound in a piece of music later on. But some people do want to write solely for the times they are in, I just wouldn't think Julian was one.

    • @DancingDingoz
      @DancingDingoz 6 лет назад +30

      I feel you may find many of these songs will survive the test of time since they deal with somewhat universal themes of power imbalance, misinformation/secrets and emotions like depression and hopelessness. Contexts change but fundamental themes often hold strong over time.

    • @bigmonkey3089
      @bigmonkey3089 6 лет назад +3

      Modest Pilgrim I'm not really a supporter of anything because I'm 13 years old and I haven't really made my own opinions. But I do believe that music should be interpreted however you want and that the meaning shouldn't be pushed on to you. For instance, when Julian talks about "White devil's" that doesn't leave much room for interpretation.
