The reason Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) praised the British was because, unlike other parts of the world, they were offering religious freedom to the people of India. Yes, they were trying to convert Muslims into Christians and atheists, but they never went about in restricting anybody's to practice their religion. That's why he praised them. Another incident that he praised the British government was when the plague hit India, the British government was quick in providing the vaccine and health benefits to the Indian people. That's another instance where he praised them. You literally just threw the historical context out the window and painted a negative picture of an actually respectable incident. It's honestly okay. I know you guys aren't big fans of religious tolerance and freedom of religion anyway.
