    Awesome video! Gonna tackle my installation tomorrow on my transit custom. You're video helped me a lot to get an overview on how to handle the camera-rear light connection. (:

    Hi mate, installing mine this week, got the wired version, I have a transit tourneo so hopefully should be easy to wire into the reverse light as yours was. Great van videos, has helped me loads!

    Thanks for the video, just installed this camera on my MK7, just a note, the earth (GND) was a different colour on my loom but there was a handy earthing point behind the light cluster so fixed it there. My camera is fixed behind the number plate in the right hand top corner so it's as close to the middle of the doors but still covered by the number plate. Picture is great.

    I have a similar camera. Do you worry about it getting taken or ripped off? I'm a bit worried

    Hi mate thanks for this great video. My question is, when you power up the monitor either direct to battery or fuse box, is it gonna power the monitor even when the vehicle is not in use? So does it mean, monitors powers up only when you turn the ignition on. Because it may drain out battery if it power the monitor when vehicle not in use. I didn’t understand that part. Could you please advice.

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  4 года назад +1

      The monitor goes off switching into standby mode until the vehicle is put in reverse again. So its black wen not in use :-) if you're worried about power consumption you could always fit a switch so you can cut the power when you leave the vehicle.

      Thank you for the reply. Is there any ways to power up the monitor only when ignition on or drive. To me it seems not a professional way of connecting positive and negative straight to battery. The reason why I am saying this, those camera system built in with newer modern vehicles only powers up when ignition on. There must be a way to power up monitor only when vehicle on ignition or driving... please write your own opinion. I am just trying to figure this out because I couldn’t make my mind up to tackle my camera system until I come to a closure... cheers mate.

    Hi, it's been a few years since this video. How's this system holding up? Would you still recommend it or is there a better alternative? Cheers

    I don't know much about electrics, but can this system be wired with a switched live so that it doesn't rely on reverse to be engaged. I would like a rear camera I can also view when parked.

    • @adamatt92
      @adamatt92 5 лет назад

      Yes you could just wire the send unit up to a permanent live or have it on a switch so you could choose when the camera screen is on!

    How long did the monitor stay on the window? I’ve seen comments about the falling down all the time. Like the look of the tester you had. Can you post a link for it please.

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  5 лет назад

      Drinternat G the monitor has only fallen off maybe once or twice since I installed it and usually on super hot days, the transmitter is mounted on the inside of the rear pillar if you have a transit you’ll notice the holes in the rear pillars, they drop down to the rear light wiring harness! Hope that helps, I’ll try and find a link for the tester for you.

    Great help for me, so very thankfull as I have just bought the same camera as this and yet on my ford Tran Connect, I wanted to see where you put the camera, as behind the plate
    its way off center right? Also wondering how to remove the number plate, as it sits very hard without screws. im guessing there are behind inside. yet even the panel sits very hard!
    Yet will just have to be more violent pulling out the grommets. Liked your solution as it was the same layout I thought to use. Many thx

      @Aboutavan  5 лет назад

      Stephen Nicholas hey, personally I don’t mind it being off center, it’s just so I can see the rear bumper so it makes parking easier! :-) I didn’t have any issues with the number plate screws on mine. Good luck with your install!

    My 2006 Ford Transit should have the same wiring i believe? I’ve watched your video and followed your steps and my camera won’t work. I’m stressed because I don’t know the issue. Connected the 12v IN (red) to the Green wire and also connected the GND (black) to the black wire second from the left. If that’s an error then I have to figure out how to remove the small clamp connector. And also figure out which wire to connect my GND to. Any ideas or input?

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  3 года назад

      Hey there, have you used the little blue connectors that come with the kit?

    • @FSUvinny
      @FSUvinny 3 года назад

      About a van mine were red, but yes! I’m not sure if I’m able to undo them until I know for certain which wires I’m to tap into.

      I had a similar issue and posted on an update video, check the videos out in Morocco, I had to solder them in.. it should be the same colour coding but please check before you go ahead! The clips can be removed just use insulation tape around where it spliced in.

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan  3 года назад

      I would suggest soldering them, and also checking the reverse lamp works!
