    Hi mate, Firstly, great video - thank you for taking the time. Few wee questions- you didnt show or mention any fixing of the actual stove to the floor or any metal heat proof panelling around it. Maybe you can share your ideas on this. Also when you used masking tape around your sikaflex, i was under the impression when you remove the tape it can leave a lip which makes it more likely to peel - have i been misinformed? Yours looked very neat but ultimately I'd take functionality over aesthetic. Also curious abouy your flue being held by the metal "tabs". I saw on another video that you are supposed to have clearance all the way round the flue, is that not true? I like your metal tabs method as it naturally holds the flue in place much better. Thanks again for taking the time to make the video, and hopefully read this comment! Cheers

      Hi there, that would depend on the area you're living in. D1 would allow small minibuses and C1 vehicles up to 7.5T, if you did C+E and D then you'd have the best options for jobs.

    I have a ADA Van (Main 12v front, Rear 12V lift Battery) both batteries are chassy ground I want to use a 12-12-18 cause thats all power I need but those are only avalible in Isolated versions. OK please answer me this do I have to run TWO Negs (one from each Battery) do I just ground the two Negs on the charger (2 center terminals) to the chassy, Esentially Jumpering the NEG together to ground will the charger Care? I am trying to avoid the 12-12-30 non-Iso just because it is overkill/hotter. I read the 12-12-18 has some issues with the B-tooth app this still true? any and all info welcome thanks.

    Good video. I've bought an Orion 12-12 Isolated 18A, though it's clear from this that the non-isolated would have done. Is this a problem? It's going in a Vauxhall Combo and both batteries will be connected to the van chassis. Can I just connect the two -ve terminals together and ground them to the main battery? My current problem is where to put it. I've read about how hot they get so under the passenger seat with the second battery doesn't sound good. I'm thinking under the bonnet and the only space I can see is in the wing behind the LHS headlight, a mounting frame would be needed. Just how hot do they get?

    Thanks! This is such a great video, I've learned an absolute ton. The vans you've listed are a little too big for what I'm after. Do you have any recommendations for anything smaller. Is the Vauxhall Vivaro a smaller Movano?

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan 3 месяца назад

      Hey Jonno, sorry I’ve only just seen this comment. The vivaros are nice vans, my brother has 3 of them and I find them nice to drive, economical and with they’re pretty reliable, the bodies are galvanised so don’t seem to suffer with too many rust issues, depends on the year you’re looking at, I’d avoid the 1.6d model and look for a 1.9/2.0.l variant.

    Which do you think is the best engine for the Citroen / Ducato/ Peugeot Boxer etc?

    • @Aboutavan
      @Aboutavan 7 месяцев назад

      I’d avoid the more modern AdBlue 2.0 engine in those, if you look around on eBay there are so many vans at less than 100,000 either needing engine replacements or have had engine replacements. Personally I’d prefer the 2.3 fiat engine as it’s been well used by the Fiat group and is the same engine used for Ivecos which seems to have proven itself as a strong unit.

    There's a reason Hiace vans are popular all over Aus,Africa,the Far East,etc. They're massively over engineered. If you're a single person , they're more than big enough. I've owned and driven vans(for work)for over 30 years ,I think your advice on checking a second hand purchase is excellent,but (happily for those who know them)you've missed out one of (if not THE )best.I It sounds crazy but unless you're buying something under 5years old,your much,much better off with a good 20 year old than a not so good 10 yr old,as they are far more simple to fix.Always buy privately,and look for service history.If you can find a self employed sole trader, who's not a builder,(a florist would be brilliant!) then that's what you're looking for. [ Yes,I run a 20 yr old Hiace,150,000miles,and I expect it to last at least another 10 years.]

    Good tutorial but too much focus on the Victron as such, almost no info on the isolated vs. non-isolated topic. With a little help from your friends .... ^_^. Like a bird on the (electrical) wire : the bird is smart enough to keep both legs close together else ... BBQ will be the result . So many people ignore Ohm's law : voltage drop = current * resistance, for sure when high currents are involved ( 50 A , 100 A , 200 A in vans, camper, RV, ...) Non-isolated charger : the grounding wire is going from the alternator (A) to the starter accu (B), from B to the Victron C (common in & out) , from C to auxillary battery D, from D to inverter E. The black wire string A-B-C-D-E is handling all different currents in the intermediate sections and will have all different NON-ZERO voltages on the nodes B, C ,D and E. (with respect to reference A). Example : 30 Amp in 1 meter AWG8 will result in a voltage drop of some 60 mV. This 60 mV is fooling the Victron (and also the BMS in the LiFePO4 battery). As opposed to the above STRING topology the isolated Victron will allow for the STAR topology. All common nodes (B , C, D) do have their own individual black wire connected to A (or B is also acceptable). Of course the same story is also true for the red 12 V wires, but here the voltage drops as such are less critical for Victron , BMS, ... because the " zero volts" is the reference.This will reduce the differences in the "common ground voltage" to more acceptible values and thus more accurate behaviour of theVictron and the BMS.

    Hello from Argentina ! Your explanation is very clear, I have the same model but the isolated one, the question I want to ask you is related to the fuses, my auxiliary battery is 200 AH Lifepo4, they told me to place a 60 fuse at the positive output of the starter battery and the same one at the positive output of the auxiliary battery, would this be correct? And if so, do I need another fuse? I ask you because they suggested another 200 fuse that I don't know where it would go. Thank you so much

    Finally a 2 minute youtube that gets right to the point without all the bollocks -- thank you. I don't entirely understand the numbers and what they mean since I'm no good with electronics. Often my heater starts for a minute, I might hear a few clicks from the fuel pump but then shuts down with and E-01 error. Sometimes it completes startup, after which it will run all night. I replaced my solar-charged battery. I'm not sure, but I suspect it completes startup and works only if my battery is at full charge after some time in the sun; if it's at all depleted, heater startup won't complete. Please provide more details on how I might diagnose, and whether glow plug or fan are among the suspects. Thanks again!

    Bom dia. Tenho uma camper e estou montando uma bateria 4s de 230 A lifpo4. Tenho uma geração solar de 600 wats e um controlador de 40 A epever, e um carregador de 30 A. Se ligar um orion 12 12 30 , como o sistema administra todas essas entradas de energia para carregar a bateria do Camper? Sou do Brasil!

    Hi, it's been a few years since this video. How's this system holding up? Would you still recommend it or is there a better alternative? Cheers
