I think I finally get why Muzak is so prevalent, even though people say they hate it at some point you learn to appreciate it and enjoy it. It taps into a spot in your mind where everything is comforting and ok
That is very well said. Elevator music, I don't think, is there to make you "rock out." It's there to tell you all is OK and comforting. I just ripped off your quote! But it's true
Someday one of these super rich dudes is going to open a super market and/or mall and have it totally set up retro 1975. Of course this music would play all day. I'd shop there all the time. Don't think I'd be the only one.
@@thehighlanders607 In Wayne, NJ around 1975, they had The Wayne Hills Mall. It was rather small, but cool. And Willowbrook Mall. They were big. If we could go back, you could go
More malls becoming liminal. Not many consumers are bringing traffic to stores like they use to just a couple of decades ago. Still, it leaves a memory within all of us.
I am happy to say that I have reached a time in life that I really appreciate the wonderful melodies of muzak and its mental reflection of the past. I guess in some ways it is the past that reproofs our future knowing what the future holds and weather it is beneficial to the emotions of our Hearts... Oh to go back in time.
Sadly most of these mall are either abandoned or knocked down I've seen where people video themselves walking through these vacant places. I really miss these days growing up I truly believe that we were blessed to have experienced those times 🤔
After over two years of restrictions and lockdowns, the wait is finally over. The stores are finally being restocked, and in a few minutes a large sign will be placed outside saying "Yes, we're open!" with hungry customers eagerly waiting to fulfill their true purpose: Consume. These are the sounds from an empty mall preparing for its first opening post-pandemic.
Lockdowns were a joke. They did that based on nothing. They claimed it was "science" but it was more $¢i€n¢€. Your body tell you pretty quick when you're sick. The test and the masks were an even bigger joke.
Where the hell do you live where malls do anything but shut down? All 5 major malls in my area are defunct. The only mall is geared toward high end international tourists. The mall rat is extinct.
Someone PLEASE guide me to a RUclips channel that plays mall music muzak for at least 5 hours or longer! I miss the wonderful old days of going to malls and department stores and wishing I could hide somewhere in a store and listen to muzak all day long!
With the filter? Or just the playlist itself? I recorded it to a cassette tape to get it to sound like this, but I have all the separate songs in a playlist somewhere
My only question is why is this only 18:57 long?!?!?! The first one was 38 mins and I didn't want it to end!!!!! Please make another one of these and longer!!!!
6:20 to 9:20 Westland Mall, Westland Mi circa early, mid 70s No the Mall wasn't named for the city- the city was named for the Mall! That's how important and integral mall culture was 60s-90s. Loved hitting the Kresge on the left during the 70s as a kid, for toy and hobby stuff, and candy. Raimi's on the right was run by the parents of Sam Raimi, the Spiderman, etc, director. Bought a lot of shoes at that Thom McCann next to Raimis. Westland had a good arcade in the basement area during the 80s with all the classics of the Golden Age. Cut my teeth on Moon Patrol and Joust there. Sorry for the Screen name, picked it before Baldwin's, err umm, issues 😅
Unfortunately in my country the mall don't have music like that. House, reggaeton or top 40 song, i wish go to somewhat american cities who have beatiful music like this.
"The Sands of Time Grow Short With You O Great One" - Court Physician to Grand Vizar in Ali Baba... Translation: Malls are dead or dying, and so soon shall I....

Yes it does! Nowhere found and that is why we are listening it here.
Same its like my secret comfort music as of late c:

❤ Loves your comment
They also use music to make cows happily pump milk
I love how the sound is being swallowed by the reverberation of the large space and hard surfaces.
But that's how the Musak sound came from the start.
That sound is why we called it "canned music".

I've always thought it would make a great nursing home alszheimer unit...
Good one
I'd love one built around retrofuturism, i.e. "The future from the viewpoint of 1994."
So sad. Muzak is the funeral dirge of the last remnant of social cohesion in our country. I'm an old man and I still miss the mall rats.
"Welcime back, welcome back to the place where you started from.....welcome back...." *sigh* the 70s & 80s were such a great time to be alive
Listening to the way this sounds, it reminds me of the warped music from The Shining. The echo has such a haunting vibe. Love it.
The Muzak reign will never end
"welcome back kotter" theme song at the beginning
5:15 is Westland Mall in Westland, MI, a suburb of Detroit. I grew up going there. Sadly it’s currently in fast decline.
More malls becoming liminal. Not many consumers are bringing traffic to stores like they use to just a couple of decades ago. Still, it leaves a memory within all of us.

Forward. Onward to a better world. That’s ahead. Not behind. I promise. Psalm 37. Isaiah 14: 7
I would buy endless cd's of this and the Seeburg music for my car and home and just disappear, vanish.
Thank heavens for the internet. Otherwise, we'd never hear this music again!
Sadly most of these mall are either abandoned or knocked down I've seen where people video themselves walking through these vacant places. I really miss these days growing up I truly believe that we were blessed to have experienced those times 🤔
Son, you are listening to ancient sounds now...
In retrospect❤️
The second song is Cheerful Little Earful. I have the Hugo Winterhalter version on a record. That third song is great.
I miss indoor shopping
Attention shoppers . Just welcoming you back. Hahaha 😂

Lockdowns were a joke. They did that based on nothing. They claimed it was "science" but it was more $¢i€n¢€. Your body tell you pretty quick when you're sick. The test and the masks were an even bigger joke.
And now everything is still out of stock 😂

It’s like the back rooms for your ears, but I love it.
Oh boy! You released a second part! Time to get sad at cheerful music playing at liminal space stores once more!
I remember listening to Muzak all, day long months ago. Glad that I found this, it's time to get back into it. ❤️
How tho
I love these playlists.. keep up the good work man!
Thanks

I absolutely love this. Thnx again for upload like the first video.
These are awesome! Love the aesthetic used here. Do you know what the song at 9:49 is?
The song is "The Days With Jane" by The Helmut Brandenburg Orchestra and Singers -- ruclips.net/video/YTXDxCaxjaU/видео.html
Yes, That song is magnificent. However, this is way better than the original. The echoes, the dreamy atmosphere is FANTASTIC!!!
So we went from 80s vaporwave to 50s muzak
I know it's a little late, but is there any way that I can get this playlist with the sound filter from this video?
With the filter? Or just the playlist itself? I recorded it to a cassette tape to get it to sound like this, but I have all the separate songs in a playlist somewhere
Is the "Welcome Back Kotter" tune from Seeburg Background Music? I HAVE to find that!

Would you believe me if this music used to play at my local mall back when it was still relevant in the local economy? Like 20 years ago

It reminds me of KJI the documentary "Always working together for the People.
I swear the scene from 2:25 looks like Grossmont Center around La Mesa, CA
Very well may be
On-Line shopping killed malls, because people are TOO LAZY to get out and heaven forbid walk their lazy ass & get some exercise.
