I am a pilot for a major US airline. I am disgusted by how dirty our planes have become due to years of neglect and lack of proper cleaning. I really wish we could return to the cleanliness standards of yesteryear. In the meantime I try my best to walk the cabin before each flight to pick up trash and tidy the cabin before passengers board. It’s the least I can do!
I find the cabins on AA to be among the filthiest among major US carriers with crumbs piled up in every crevice. As a passenger I've occasionally had to discard trash from previous pax left between the seat bottom and window or in the map pockets.
I noticed no mention of emptying the armrest ashtrays. Was TWA already smoke-free by 1990? Also, all this time I assumed the blankets and pillows were replaced after each flight... I'm trying not to think about the airplane blankets and pillows I used as a kid. Of course, it's not a problem these days, since airlines don't have any blankets or pillows unless you're in business class or maybe flying international.
2:29 well shit, and here I thought for 40+ years, that cockroaches can’t be aboard or even get on a damn plane….well I’m not flying for a while now after hearing this.

This is really interesting! Many times we don't think about the hard work that goes into cleaning airliners at an RON station.

Southwest could take a page from this 33 year old video.
If you think Southwest is bad, try Spirit or Frontier!
@@TWAMuseum Spirit has a great cleaning program when the vendors perform it properly.
