You are a precious adorable gem, Suzie. Im so glad you were able to make it down to HangCon 2024. Remember, next year you come down as family so if you do forget something, you just enjoy what we offer you without hesitation. I like your idea of a HangCon bucket list.... Maybe we'll make a HangCon Bingo Card for you. About the fires, you're right. I make them progressively larger every night to build on the previous night's fire. See you next year, floridahanger.
Hey Karla, thanks for doing this video, I hope it will help others that are coming for their first time. Thanks for the kind words about all of the meals too. Each year we always get a few messages from people complaining about the food or something else about the event. I guess even when it's a free event and you are not having to pay for the camping and both breakfast and dinner meals for 5 days, it's still not enough.. lol ~Skunkape~
Carbonated soft drinks = pop. A small, flowing watershed = crick. First of all, thank you for using language that I as a Pennsylvanian can understand. LOL. Very nicely done video. I would love to attend an event like this but me and Florida are like oil and water. Last time I was there was in 1990 and I swore I’d never go back. Thanks for showing everything that goes on there so thoroughly. I’m usually a day hiking, watch the fire burn kind of guy but if I’m around other people with a shared interest, I have no problem staying entertained. We have a group hang coming up in Pennsylvania in April. I’m going to try and make that one. Otherwise, it’s just me, my backpack and a hammock. Thanks again !!
Just watched your video on your 1st time @HangCon. Hope you had a blast. Loved your info for newbies-we all started that way. Hope you got a chance to try out your new Amok hammock you won from the raffle- I was the guy that gave you some jewjew of mine lol. Really enjoyed your experience and excitement. We camp out in the primitive area each year. Find that being exposed in the “regular “ campground is cold and being in the woods helps take those cold winds out of the equation and makes sleeping /staying warmer a lil easier. We’re heading to Covington,Ohio this Thursday so I can try and dial in my coldness scale while hammock Kamping and see how cold I can get with what I have. We’re driving from FL so it’ll be interesting to see how I do. Once again pleasure meeting you and hope you return next year. We go every year. Next year will be 5th year
Hi Karla! Just found your channel and I love it! We are so much alike - like how you couldn't stop laughing when you figured out you missed breakfast due to your phone still being on central time! I live in Florida, and you are so right about our January weather. That damp cold goes right through your bones. I grew up in Northern IL and always loved watching it snow - so magical! I can't wait to watch more of your videos and see what you are up to. 😊
@@KarlaWithAKTime Ha! I did want to say how I appreciate you being very real and open about your experience at HangCon and didn't sugar-coat it. :) WHile watching it, I will say that I GLADLY would've offered you more food for breakfast, even good coffee and pancakes! The only thing I didn't have for you was bacon...which, truely, IS a shame...
Thanks Karla! I'm new to hammock camping and really wanted to go to Hangcon this year but it just wasn't in the cards. Hopefully I can make it next year. Your video is invaluable! Hope to run to into you and thank you in person. SUBSCRIBED!
I loved the time I got to hang by the creek. 2024 someone else had nipped the spot before I got there. And I didn't know it until night fell but this year I set up under one of the lights that stayed on all night. Didn't bother me too much with my black tarp. The bonus was use of a picnic table. My camp buddy was behind you and she was told she couldn't take space for her 10x10 so she put it over her hive. That isn't how she wanted to set up. Sometimes the people in charge go a bit over the top about spaces before anyone even shows up. And wow, did I ever not notice what Dutchware did with the tarps when it was raining.
I’m laughing w/ you because I can see me doing this & getting emotional over my mistake. Love the GreenBay hat! Bret Farve grew up 30 min from where I live & he still lives in our college town about an hr away. I also have a stepdaughter & her family in WI. Hope to go to both your frozen butt hang & this hang con one day.
There are things to do all weekend. Usually some organized a day hike or a bike trek or a kayak trip or some other engaging activity. The vibe is very chill! One group was playing a very fun looking game of bocci ball.
@@KarlaWithAKTime there is a few thousand that we put into the food for all of the meals. As far as the people power for cooking all of those meals, there is Travis, our chef, and his kitchen crew, Jake, Jane, and Heather, that do all of the prep and cooking.

Always be prepared , don’t be needy and depend on other resources … Take Care Can always take large containers on planes ( like golf clubs - for supplies)

YES! Go to the hang. You never know if you might meet some new camping buddies. I love conversations around the campfire!
Hey Karla. Enjoyed meeting you at HangCon! It was fun sitting around the fire talking. Hope to see you again. Bob and George

I was a bit jealous of those with a picnic table. Especially since I flew in and didn't drive where I could have brought a table.
You're so relatable.
Thank you. Not usually so vunerable in youtube videos.

Awwwh, thank you!
Nice review. I am backpacker that hammocks would love seeing vendors but don’t know if I could stay entertained for multiple days.
There's so many people to meet and set ups to see. To me, being entertained is up to each person.

My place got hit with 8 inches of snow when I was at Hangcon. 15 miles west of me got 28 inches!
