I can only echo what your other commenters have voiced. You bring a smile and joy to our hearts. You are the best. Looking forward to which books you read. Keep coming back with more smile inducing Booktube content, it is so much fun to spend time with you.
Thunderclap + documenting a trip to Delft = yes please! My library hold for Thunderclap is “in transit” so my fingers are crossed that it arrives today. Otherwise I will miss the pickup date because I am going to be away for a week beginning Monday. PS I enjoyed your comments about the saggy middle of some novels.
Lindy, I hope you got Thunderclap! Nothing is worse than missing the library hold window. I cannot take credit for originating the saggy middle discussion--that was all Greg!
@@EveningReader I forgot that library hours changed for the summer: it’s currently closed on Sundays. I was able to suspend my hold until I return from the Yukon so it’s all good.
Thank you for keeping it real by not editing out occasional pauses and wonderings. That's what makes you such great company. Great to have you onboard for Framed! in September. By the sound of it, if you read "body parts" you're already covering a set-in-art-world fiction book.
Heather, I'm so happy I inadvertently managed to pick a novel for Shorty September that will also work for Framed! I wanted to do both challenges, but I'm terrible about overcommitting and trying not to do that anymore.
@@EveningReader Your absolutely right to try and do what suits you. I'm still hearing about new challenges in September I hadn't heard of before - always too much going on to do everything on Booktube:-)
You had me at "Shirley Jackson feel." I'm highly intrigued. The Kevin Barry book sounds like a lost season of Deadwood. In a good way! I've heard all sorts of different things about Boy Parts. Keep us posted. Finding the evidence that you already read the Ozick book😂😂 I love the Delft field trip idea! I'm looking forward to hearing more about all of these books. Great line up!
Hi Priscilla, you know how much I love your channel and I loved it from the beginning. I have Lolly Willows on my shelf. It’s one of the books I bought before I really got into my Kindle. It’s not really my kind of book but it has an older protagonist so I’m going to put that on my Shorty September list. I I watched Greg’s video also and it got me thinking how much I love short books yet I’m still reading Angelou’s autobiography and wish there were more. It’s very personal. Boy parts might be on my radar if it’s not too dark. I love rereading my own diaries so we have that in common. It feels like another person sometimes. great video. Aloha friend.
Maya, you have been so kind and friendly to me from the get-go--I appreciate you so much! I hope you do read Lolly Willowes for Shorty September--it will be fun to hear your thoughts. It's so true that with some books, we wish they would go on and on. I hope all is well there with you!
@@EveningReader I have a new copy of Lolly Willowes bought my first year on Booktube. It will be on my TBR this month. I'm so happy you joined Booktube. You give me and others a lot of joy. Aloha friend.
I like your plan! Some structure but lots of room for moodiness. I read Happy All the Time when I was quite young and loved it; I'm not sure how it would hold up now but I do want to read more of her work, too. I remember hearing one of Colwin's short stories read aloud on the New Yorker short fiction podcast by Maile Maloy and it was excellent. I have been booktube influenced by Thunderclap! I have to read it. It seems imperative. :) I'm planning a short video about the Framed #artbook challenge and some recommendations. It's such a great theme for a reading challenge. I might also read The Tempest for Shaketube because I've never read it before, and finally, for shorty September I want to try Denis Johnson's Train Dreams.
I will have to find that New Yorker podcast. I also really enjoy Maile Meloy's writing, so I'd love to hear her talk about the Colwin story. Yes, you must get on the Thunderclap train! I enjoyed what I've read so far. I'm looking forward to your Framed video--I can already hear my TBR groaning. I loved Train Dreams. I hope you do, too!
You crack me up. 🤣Unscripted and unprepared Priscilla is a joy to behold. Don’t ever change. I plan to read “Rhine Journey” by Ann Schlee (1980) because it fits both Shorty September AND Spinster September. It takes place in 1851. An unmarried Englishwoman is travelling by paddle-steamer on the Rhine River with her brother’s family. Along the way, she experiences an emotional awakening.
Aw, MJ! Well, I doubt I could change my unprepared, unscripted ways--believe me, I've tried! 😂 Oh, I think Lolly Willowes will work for Spinster September, which I didn't know about until now! I hope you'll let me know what you thought of "Rhine Journey"--it sounds intriguing.

Aw, Marcia! That's so nice, you are making me blush!
Happy Shorty September ❣️
I enjoyed Lolly Willowes☺️
Yay, another vote for Lolly! I hope you are well, Deea!
I don’t normally read short books either but I find it really satisfying to blaze through a bunch during Shorty September!
Ha, and you do blaze through them! I just wade.
I love your laughter! This entire video made me smile. 😊
Thank you, Pat!

Great plans. I loved Lolly Willowes.
Thanks, Ros! Good to know!
O Caledonia and Lolly Willowes sound like a wonderful pair. Both have been circling my TBR list lately. I can’t wait to hear about Delft!
Delft will be an adventure for sure! I'm hoping to get O Caledonia and Lolly Willowes both read this week, so hopefully the review will be up soon.
Happy shorties! Bert is reading the Kevin Barry for shorty September too, so consider it acceptable!! 😂 Siân
Ha, excellent! Thanks for hosting this again--I can't believe I missed the prompts, though!
Boy Parts would also be great for Framed! in September.
Good point, Louise! I love a two-fer!

O Caledonia is a lovely lovely book. It is super atmospheric. For some reason to me Janet exudes a dark disney princess vibe.
Yes, I definitely see this! Also a Tim Burton vibe.
