Down in Naples, FL. Running Grady 370 express with triple 425 yammies. Great boat to fish and cruise. Taken up to Tampa down to Key West to fish and did the mini loop around the bottom of FL and across Lake Okeechobee. Great boat for distance fishing and cruises. Comfortable to sleep 5 on it. The only downside is I get .75 mpg on my best days. So, it's not cheap on gas. I think it's worth it. The next big trip will be the Bahamas.
Up here everyone has a down east boat or Ocean Yacht boat for fishing. Lots of people use them for cruising as well. Definitely gonna get an Ocean Yacht 48 for my next boat. Already got my mind set on it. Then you got the big money guys with Spencers and Hines-Farleys.
In southern california we mostly are top water enthusiasts with a little live bait fishing but most people don't because who's gonna pay 40$ for 1 scoop of anchovies that will only last you 30 mins of fishing since casting a net is illegal here. Therfore most of our top boats we use are Pathfinders , Parker , Boston whaler and Freeman's and surprisingly skiff because we don't have any crazy weather everyday is mostly flat with 12mph winds sometimes 1 or 3ft of rough water on deep water so it's nothing compared to other states 😂. I've taken my 18ft Boston whaler 60 miles off shore almost everyday no problems
Center consoles are pricing themselves out of the market. Looking at the mid to upper tier boats - you are looking at 500k + - Price out a 31 or 34 Regulator - cha ching - I have a 28 Reg and run a few charters on that to the canyons.. I would think the annual cost of ownership on a sporty is way higher than a CC in terms of maintenance, engine work etc.. But running a CC day to day isn't cheap. I pay probably $1 more per gallon for gas than it costs for diesel. A full day trip from OCMD to the canyons an back I'm burning 150 ish gallons of gas - fill up is around 750. This isn't an inexpensive sport no matter which way you go - sporty's are going to kill you in maint cost and slip fees - CC are going to have bigger barrier to entry cost wise, you can trailer and launch (but that would suck doing that all the time) lower maintenance cost but higher fill up costs. Flip a coin I guess..
@ Aluminum is the only option that I know of. Allied Boats in Bremerton Washington has a beautiful Liberator model I like. I think fiberglass builders might catch on.
With the quality of motors these days single or twins isn't as much of an issue as it used to be. I see tons of singles out in the canyons these days up here in NJ. The cost of everything is so absurd anymore especially with buying new. There are too many quality used boats that if repowered are better then most of the junk production companies make today. Been fishing on a 2022 280cx Edgewater this year and it blows my mind that for $250 grand literally every screw has come loose or fallen out. And the amount of things that have failed is crazy. While literally every original thing on my 98 Hydra Sport so works and is tight
WHAT'S UP SPEECHLESS, HAD A GREAT SEASON UP NORTH FISHING THE CAYONS FROM VEECH TO TOMS ,BE IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS CHASING BFT P.S HECK NO TO CENTER CONSOLE ,ID TAKE A WALK AROUND BEFORE CENTER OUT IN THE WEATHER CONSOLE ,OVER NIGHTER U CANT GET OUT OF THE DEW .

Great topic on boat designs guys. When can we pick up a speechless tshirt or hat????
Appreciate you asking. Just made a massive order. Should be here on RUclips soon.
Talking about live bait fishing, we light line with live bait same as we do dead bait and catch the hell out of Mahi and King with it :)
Nice!!
"You guys are "alright!" Cool😅

Great points. The market really is getting out of hand.
Walkaround pilot house boats are the future for the hard core type.

@@mulletoutdooradventures6286 Great points. Sad what’s happened with the workmanship on these boats.
