The image that stopped me in my tracks during this browse is at 1:04:48. It is used in the article on labor relations, and depicts a young girl working in a cotton mill, ~1909. We talk about “imagination prompts” on this channel sometimes, and this image is another great example of that. The themes are the similar to “ASMR Forgotten Cemetery” and “ASMR Yearbook” - wondering aloud what might have become of that person, and what ripple impact they might have left on the world. This is a long video to facilitate sleep, but if you don’t want to miss that image, hit the time stamp and check it out. I’d love to hear where your own imagination goes. Thanks friends.
I am fairly certain that photo was taken in Fall River, MA. The Library of Congress has a whole series of photos like this taken by Lewis Hine in FR of children in mills. I looked at them all and wondered about each of those kids, the same way you did here. Some of them look tougher and more grown up than I did at their age!
@@sleepytime5518 Hey there, just wanted to follow up with you. I checked the photo credit, and you are correct, it is indeed Mr. Hine. I had not heard of him, so I did a bit of looking, and was blown away by what I found. He (and the organization he took the pictures for) receives a lot of credit for changing child labor laws in the US. There are also a good number of videos about Hine and his photos out there on YT. Thanks so much for bringing him to my attention!
I really enjoy the subjects of your ASMR videos. Not just confectionary for the ears, but more substantial food for the mind. Thanks for putting so much thought and effort into them.
You’re most welcome, Jack, and thank YOU for your kind words. As a small channel, it is easy to feel kinda lost and overlooked out here in the big sea of the internet. It really helps to know that you guys are willing to tag along on this creative journey with me.
I always thought ASMR is perfect for educational purposes. You learn just easier when u are relaxed and u enjoy the process. Also, the soemhow slower presentation makes it easier to learn.
I agree. Everyone learns differently, and I can definitely see a case where ASMR could be a suitable educational vector for some folks. Thanks for watching!
I remember the days of encyclopedias. I loved them even when I wasn’t using them for a school subject. Unfortunately, we didn’t have them at home-I had to access them at the local library or school library. Love this walk down memory lane!
As the saying goes; "You learn something new everyday." I'd never heard of Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, so that was a new one on me. In any case, excellent job. This encyclopedia volume made superb page turning sounds which were quite relaxing, as was your soft spoken commentary. I dug the randomness of the disconnected articles as well. Thanks for an hour+ of awesome ASMR! 👍🤝
Thanks for the kind words, Idlewild, appreciate your being here. I’m glad the page turning sounds came though well - sometimes it is tricky to find the right mic position to get both paper sounds and voice to sound good in the same take.
@@GaslampASMR Thank you for the warm welcome & friendliness. 🤝 You really did do an excellent job positioning the mic to capture both the page turning sounds & your voice. 👏
My mom got an encyclopedia set for us when I was pretty young, 6ish I think. It had gotten water damaged at our local library, so it was dirt cheap but still almost entirely readable. My sisters and I loved the pages that had pictures of a bunch of different dog breeds, types of gems, that sort of thing. It was all color too! That was about 25 years ago, so a couple years pre internet I think.
Hey there GG, so cool that your family was able to own an encyclopedia in that way. As it came from a library, it may very well have been a higher-end example. Certainly the "all color" part is a giveaway. Yes, my young pre-engineer brain responded to those very same types of pages - comparisons and lists of things were very compelling. Thanks for sharing!
3:28 I like how “gentleman” is in bold and all caps. Reminds me of how Ferrari like to put their name as many possible times in their owners manual. Then bold and highlight it
Wow, your voice is amazingly calming! I'm genuinely impressed! I found your comment on a reddit post from three years ago. And I'm sure glad I decided to look up the commentors.
The light is Little too bright for me. I Have managed to adjust the brightness of my screen to the dimmest but it is still hard to fall asleep. Exempt that every thing is perfect. Thanks.
Very discouraged to hear about this. I had heard that YT was now putting ads on completely unmonetized channels like mine, but I wasn’t certain if it was happening for sure. That really sucks, I’m sorry about that.

Excellent idea my friend. I love encyclopedias!

You are amongst my most favorite ASMR channels! Thanks for all.
Thanks Jonathan, I appreciate that!
No problem; I used to peruse encyclopedias as well. Miss it.
Once again great video! I cant remember the last time I saw an encyclopedia.
Right? They're kinda scarce in the wild these days. Libraries still have them, I believe.

Exactly right. When you're the advertiser, you get to decide what is a proper noun and what isn't! lol Gotta elevate that brand! Thanks for writing.
Great to hear you! Excellent video.
Appreciate that BB!
One of my other asmr channels I watched suggested you. and I for one was not expecting such a deep voice! spooked me a little
Sorry about the spooking, but I hope you enjoy what you find here and stick around. Thanks for the comment!
@@GaslampASMR I plan to! I feel asleep to this video so fast. you're voice was relaxing after the first spook

LOL, cool, I hope I had something constructive to say in that reddit comment! Thanks for the kind words, Daan.
Very interesting and relaxing to listen to!
Thanks Joanne!
This video was neat and well done.
Thank you sir!
We've missed you!!
Thanks for saying so, Daise!
This is so intriguing! I love it. -WithLove L ASMR🍁🐢👻

Gaslamp ASMR I came to this channel yesterday because of the link @lets find out ASMR shared on RUclips.
Much appreciated!
Loud commercial at 8 minutes was great....

According to Siri...Jupiter has 79 moons!
Um, SAY WHAT NOW?? That’s quite a collection! lol
Gaslamp ASMR Jupiter also has the biggest moon in our solar system, Ganymede. Biggest planet, biggest moon!
Yep, that seems legit.
