      @@vinujac2899 that is probably due to the fact more light is entering the camera as the field of view is wider. This would most likely happen on every lens.

    I love the 16-55 and it’s big brother the 50-140.

  • @mikefoster6018

    This Fuji 16-55mm has been fantastic for my street photography and is a 'keeper' :) I am reducing my use of it during winter, as its f2.8 isn't so strong on gloomy, grey days or night time. The f2.8 also gives little bokeh/separation unless you're relatively close to the subject and ideally using its 55mm zoom.
    The weight of it hasn't bothered me, as I use a short wrist strap to help my wrist take about half of the total weight. I can do a 10 mile walk with it in my hand, with just a couple of rest breaks (but I am a big bloke). Carrying it as a second lens on long walks is a bit more borderline but I have done it.
    When I carry it in my hand, it protrudes a bit to my side and feels more likely to get bumped or bashed in London crowds than my more compact 33mm lens.
    But it's still a terrific lens. Use its zoom ambitiously to get the kind of distortion and or natural framing you need for each shot and you'll hugely appreciate its flexibility. Something I really miss when I'm using a prime lens.

    Good Review! Very informative.
    I'm confused between XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR Zoom and XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR Prime. I'm a beginner photographer and I need to choose one lense between these two lenses for portraits, street and landscape photography. What would you recommend?

    • @LucasJohnsonFaustino
      @LucasJohnsonFaustino  2 года назад

      Hi Mahesh. I’ve never used the 33mm so it’s hard for me to recommend it or not. The key difference is that one is a zoom lens and one is prime. The zoom lens will give you a lot more versatility and let’s you play around with different focal lengths which is great for when you are starting out. Both lenses would suit the type of photography you mentioned so at the end of the day it will be personal choice! Thanks for the support on the video!

    Awesome video! I also have the X-T4 and I want an every day zoom for street, as well as for portrait/fashion shoots. I tried the tamron but the lack of aperture ring sucks and it feels plasticky. Would you rather have this or the 18-55?

      Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I haven’t tried the Tamron so it’s hard for me to say. But I can say that the build quality and image quality is top notch. But you will have to carry the large weight! Which I’m guessing with the plasticky body of the Tamron isn’t a problem you would have!

      This lens is quite old now. It came out in Jan 2015 which goes to show how excellent it really is. I really want this as currently I have no zoom lens and the weather here in Ireland is not great as it usually rains so its WR and having not to switch lens will become handy. it’s the jack of all trades and bunch of primes as they said, but Im afraid that they will upgrade this lens for 1-2 yrs from now and I’ll regret for not waiting.

    You forgot to mention that this lens is not stabilized and it's a big no no for me even if I have an xt4.
    Having no OIS for video is a negative especially if you also want to shoot on non stabilized bodies like the xpro3.

    Fujinon xf 16-55mm f2.8 r lm wr
    A lens of remarkable quality in optical and mechanical terms, excellent brightness but a very big flaw: the rubber of the zoom (ring grip) is worn and detached when using the lens in a non-intensive way and for short periods. Considering the cost of the lens, I expected the best in everything, also because it is sold as a "tropicalized lens" that is resistant to bad weather, dust, etc.; for the replacement it must be sent only to the assistance center in Milan at your expense, the cost of the tire change between 100 and 150 euros. An old zoom lens used for over 20 years on an analog SLR the tires are practically undamaged.
    BIG DISAPPOINTMENT (video available)

  • @professionalpotato4764
    @professionalpotato4764 2 года назад +2

    Rented this for a bit but didn't like it. Exposure stepping in Fuji zooms has pushed me towards Sony. To date Fuji has not added any firmware update for touch to track autofocus, another bummer. Also, there's no need for declicked aperture rings for mirrorless lenses because they are controlled electronically. And we all know Fuji does a horrible job at it. I think the Viltrox primes are smoother on the Sony system with the declicked rings? Not 100% sure on this. When the new 18-120 f4 showed iris issues, that's the end of Fuji for me. I'll keep my X-T4 and 18mm f/1.8 as a street photography camera, but definitely not investing another cent into Fuji.

    • @LucasJohnsonFaustino
      @LucasJohnsonFaustino  2 года назад +1

      I’d also agree that I think the current Sony cameras are more complete but Fuji is showing good promise with their new releases so I wouldn’t right them off completely! It’s always good to have competition as it pushes the industry forward!
