Reminded me of my Brothers and I ....as for I am the middle son and the one that went away after my mother passed....years fly by you come home when you fall on hard times and it's like you are not wanted ...some say family is everything maybe so but why do we have to fight just to be a part of something you never really felt you were part of....
I guess there are all kinds of families, and some are tougher to fit into than others. Ultimately I think we are all meant to learn from each other. But sometimes it still hurts, even as adults. I hope you're doing okay these days.

My answer is to give up hoping, fighting for any nice kind of family feeling. Every single family member have rejected me in one way or another and nothing I have done to try to fit in or change it has helped. So now, over 70, I have made the decision to give up. I am moving away and want to put all family behind me. Perhaps I can find some kind of happiness this way before the end of my life.
@@ANANDALEEMA I"ve had a similar experience - gave up on my entire family pretty much. Now over 70 - have a brother that I never talk to any more. Too much judgment of me. Couldn't take it anymore. Walked away. So I know how you feel.

I liked the Canadian Coast home town setting for the wonderful family reconnect story. Lots of water under that bridge of sad memories and hopes for healing.

Real, real, real. Like "But we already have an Uncle" and getting out to start your car and having to go back and pop the hood. Different members of all families do play different roles, they ebb and flow, move away, come closer. This movie will make me think about the roles my own family members play, and how to function better, even after adversity.

An awesome film, in all respects. Expertly directed, acted, edited, scripted. What's not to like? You feel for every one of the characters - every one, in one fashion or another. That takes talent, and I recommend this to anybody who can appreciate that.

Is their any bigger responsibility than being a good father or mother.
So many lives messed up because of alcohol/ addictions the disease ruins families and messes up the children right through to adult hood even for some to death. I know I came from a family with addiction. Then I married and addict. Chaos and pain for so many years, until I got myself out of the relationship and sought help for co dependency. Could say more but its too painful.
I so get this tragic story.
I am so sorry you had firsthand experience with addictions - it is definitely not an easy ride. I was married to a guy who drank a lot. He could be pretty mean. I guess that's why my storytelling explores addictions. My Drifters book series has similar themes. Sigh. Hope you are doing well these days.

Suffer? LOL This movie should have been called "Still the Whining". These two jerky brothers have everything they need. They have a family business, a nice town, and women God knows why, that care about them. I should "suffer" so much.

Wow, so much better than I expected!
This was filmed in my home province of Prince Edward Island! I remember reading about a drama being filmed here on the Island about two brothers but couldn't remember the name until I saw the red sandy cliffs in the wide shots and thought "Huh, that looks familiar". Wonderful film about a serious topic people live through everyday in silence. I hope more filmmakers choose the Island for locations, there is some great scenery here.

I'm still learning - one day at a time! My book series (Drifters - A Song For Josh) has been optioned for TV so it will be fun to see where that goes. That series is all about hope and forgiveness but it's gritty at times. The Healing Place never got released - I made it for a client, The International Children's Memorial Place. A family story, drama but Love in the end.. Being part of a family can be difficult especially if there's drinking involved.. Finally got a look at that cat. They feed him too much!! The music was outstanding too.

The movie has a great story line that many can resonate, but I do get sick of all the raunchy language. I just wish there were more movies with great story lines that were decent for all the family's ears. UGH.
