Powerful movie! People really don't realize how common mental health problems are! The stigma needs to be removed and treatment needs to be sought out! God bless!

yes but, it's so strange that insurances cover so little of the costs for expensive treatment. it would be great if a certain type of 'group therapy' was required in schools. it would be an eye opener for so many ppl. they could teach at least enough about mental illness so ppl could recognize it in others. my uncle was a very angry & jealous person. He murdered my aunt & it could have been prevented if family had realized he was mentally ill...!

SOmetimes kids dont have mental illness they are just spoiled. If you spend him one year in Serbia and let him survive in the wilderness he would come home a man. Stop to shower kids with love and protect them from danger.

Only Jesus Christ can set you free, whoever the son sets free is free indeed. Repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is what is required of us. Jesus finished it all on the cross, death, sin, sickness, was defeated by the blood of Jesus Christ upon that Cross. Christ crucified for the salvation of mankind, raised from the dead for our justification.

First and foremost, I want to thank all the people who put this project/movie, actors together. It is a must watch for families going through anxiety, Depression, and bipolar disorder. I have them. It hurts to watch but LEARNED so much from it. It is a beautiful movie even when it is about sad reality of what life offers to some of us. Watch it with a "grain of salt". Love & Peace!

    Hi everyone
    I'm so grateful for watching
this movie because it reminds me
Of my childhood when no one understood me and my mother and teachers would tell me I was a lost
cause, so when I was 13 I ran away and my mother didn't even care to
find me. So I got married at 15 and things just got worse
Because my X husband was violent with me but thank
God I left him and all
    My prayers helped me through
    with out doctors or medication.
After years I got married again and I was diagnosed with cancer but I fought it with Faith and Now I'm
    turning 46 this Saturday
2/5/1976 and I feel so blessed.
I just wish I could help others believe
In miracles so they can fight all
evil and cast them away with
    Prayers. AMEN.
    From Houston Texas
    May
    God Bless you all.

Great movie, outstanding acting. No matter how frustrating it can be for parents/a parent or it makes them feel like a failure, sometimes you just don’t have the tools to help your own child. The only way to help them then is to always be there and/or seek professional help. This movie is a perfect showcase of this, with no dramatizations or romanizations. A mental illness affects the entire family and the stress of it can cause other diseases.

As a parent of a 22 year old son, also diagnosed when he was a child, when you go to the IEP Meetings, concentrate on PROGRESS. Your child might go slower than other kids, but I assure you, he is progressing. My son is also on the Autism Spectrum and has also been diagnosed with ADHD and emotional disabilities. Just remember to promote his talents and do not let the school staff and special education staff lower your standards. There is flexibility and reasonable accommodations for students. For example, even though Algebra may be a requirement for Computer Skills, the School can relax the requirements Also, trust yourself; find videos in RUclips that may be useful for him, or websites with appropriate "educational" games. You can be surprised at the variety of videos that can enhance his school or workplace development learning. Most importantly, do not forget entertainment activities, groups (try Parks and Recreation), and free community activities, such as movies, music, festivals, etc.
Although my son graduated from high school 2018, he did not complete the "normal" academic load; so now he is taking GED classes two evenings a week at Arlington Community Learning (for adults). He also signed up for some cooking classes and trade classes (faucet repair, replacing electrical outlets), also at the Arlington Community Learning. This really will enhance his job opportunities. My son now has been working full-time for more than a year, and he was working part-time while he was attending the Program for Employment Preparedness (Arlington County, VA). Fortunately he has come a long way and probably could live independently, with guidance. As my daughter tells me, EVERYBODY needs guidance in certain aspects of their lives.
      GOOD LUCK!

Despite my parents having preofessional careers, early intervention would have been preferable and l often wonder why they didn't.

You can observe in them not only psychical symptoms like fabromalagia, seizures, migraines etc but psychological like rage, bipolar, depression. When they are in rage their faces are completely changing, sometimes they eyes look very scary. Read about Lyme and in many instances you will find the reason of your sickness.

All I knew is that I was spending every second of every day trying to keep my head from going under. Living this way is a lot of work and filters through every aspect of your life, the way you think, work, relate to others etc. etc. Everything feels like too much work and you spend every second of every day just keeping afloat. As now being 54 years old these 4 haven’t gone away or became easier as time has passed. I take medications & do the best one day at a time but my quality of life because of these difficulties make things harder in all aspects of life & when I was younger my life was more social had friends did fun activities more & things just seemed a little easier even when I went through certain times that were especially hard from experiences that came up which I had to deal with take care of & what I remember then & still do now is the feeling of being alone in times of stress when things are extra tough to manage & I wish so much that there was 1 friend with me by my side for moral support to help me get through something or get something done & when they are in the same or similar situation I would gladly do the same in return because that’s what friends are for it would make life so much easier & I wouldn’t feel so alone isolated like I’m the only person who feels this way because every time when I’m in this exact situation nobody else I know feels this way or has ever & Im all by myself but I do have a couple friends they don’t have any of the things I have had my whole life & cope with every day so a person can’t really understand how that feels. I have a cat & a dog but spend lot of time alone as far as humans it’s not the best way don’t think so.

Mental illness in a family, rather it's core comes from a child or a parent, it effects everyone in that family! It casts shame and sometimes terror and isolation into a household. But with help and especially with understanding and lack of judgement from friends, extended family, community etc. there is hope!

It still doesn't got me from thinking wanting somebody to kill me instantly. When I'm driving I hope somebody hits me so hard that I passed away. That will always be in my head no matter how much medication I take. So I got three dogs and a cat that really helped me alot. God bless everyone that has to go through somebody with bipolar. This is a great movie, there should be more like this. Mental Health is equally important as physical, in fact it goes hand in hand. I work in Mental Health as a therapist it's my passion. There can be very sad situations but also can be rewarding seeing people RECOVER. It's tough not just for the individual but particularly their families. The therapist is right there isn't a "magic pill" but we can learn how to manage and cope with the illness and still live a good life. ❤❤👍🙂

I understand why she doesn't really talk to me. Sometimes my guts tell me she self isolates from me. I mean I don't really hear from her much. This movie definitely hits me hard hits home. This resonates with me and my family. We went through this with my oldest daughter...she didn't have bipolar, but suffer with Depression and panic attacks. It was a heart breaker not knowing what it was at first...oh if I cried, she was not that social in school, but she did great with her grades. There was something we could not put our finger on, she hided really well then, until 8th grade. I was able to take her to a therapist, but she was good at lying to them, telling them that she was fine. Then she decided to get into gymnastics she was a bit old for it, but she exhale on it, competed and all, but there was something within her that she was not happy. We struggled to get the right people to let us know exactly what was wrong with her, I never felt so alone. My husband was not good at dealing with it either, it was on me to take her places for help. Then HS didn't help much, on her sophomore year she started to hang out with the wrong crowd, it was devastating. Lots of things happened she even cut her wrist one day at my house, I almost die. It's not fun to have a child with anxiety and depression, plus if they put then in meds that don't work for them. I use to punished myself all the time, the guilt I carried for not understanding at first, I use to question my parenting skills but it was not my fault. We also have another daughter a year younger, she is ok and seen a lot. Since I was not able to help her and she didn't want our help much, I went on to work with people with Autism and mental illness, till the day I still do it, that help me to learn how to help my own daughter. I got the training of how to deal with behavior and situations, I learned so much with other parents. Now a days we have a great relationship with her, she learn skills of how to cope with her anxiety. Awesome movie by the way!

This movie sure educated me. When I came to America, I never heard of this bipolar before. I met a few people here that were inflicted with this. I only witnessed one time a episode of bipolar. Watching this movie, I learned more. This family went through hell. It's a wonder they all stuck together and helped that boy. On top of all of this, the mom ends up with breast cancer. I know about cancer. I lost my husband to that dreaded decease. The doctor gave him 8 months to live, and that is exactly how long he had. 8 months later he was dead. It's been almost 14 years since he passed away, and I still miss my darling husband very much. Are American people aware of this illness? It said only 20 % get help. When you poor, you won't get that kind of help from any one. This was an excellent movie. I'm glad I watched it. Thank you MC, John.

Just try your best to find things which give you some pleasure and satisfaction and a feeling of measurable progress. Even if you do not have money you could probably get help at a community hospital to deal with what you feel bothers you such as loneliness or not fitting in. By the way progress is determined only by you. I do hope like the young man in the story you can find a place to go to and group to identify with. How could we not be affected?.... I think that people who feel in a huge way are actually people who are very awake...
I don't think "bipolar" is something to be ashamed of/something is "wrong"...... I actually think it's a big wake up call for everyone else ........ What are your thoughts?... Listening when you're ready...

My stepson has bipolar disorder and thermoregulatory fear of harm. This movie shows his struggles which are familiar to his mother and me, struggles which every single person living should be given 'the lens' to see. Watching this was like watching the last 5 years of our lives, especially because we only recently found the correct diagnosis for him and now we have far more methods to help him and ourselves. Any person can and will change their lives drastically even if only the most elementary principles of the impacts of mental illness are understood.

The struggle families go through until a diagnosis is incredible. Such a stigma. The real cure is the acceptance despite it. Once it's accepted as 'what is', life becomes so much easier. I've social anxiety. Got better at handling it after watching Beautiful Mind.. Seems weird but I just learned to control it

Loved the movie. It’s unfortunate that for a good education you need money, for a good lawyer you need money, for this kind of therapy/assessments you need money. They were paying six figures for this place. ☮️

I suffered with psychosis, chronic depression and hearing voices for 15 years. But I surrended my life to Jesus Christ and was filled with His Holy Spirit and spent time seeking His face in prayer and worship and bible reading and obeying and I am free for 7 years now, completely free! All because Christ died on the cross for the salvation of mankind and rose again, so we can be forgiven and made new and have eternal life.. if truly repent and believe.

I walk with Christ as my redeemer, however I still endure mental health challenges - not through a lack of faith. He empowers me to thrive in the face of it, however I still need medication to maintain my stability. As soon as I come off the antipsychotics I relapse. I maintain my stability whilst on medication. That is that pathway of recovery God has empowered

Wonderful testimony. I'm truly happy for you. But please be careful how you share it. Some great born again Christians who have a real relationship with God do struggle with mental health issues. God's works in different ways with different people.

Having bipolar along with ptsd is definitely a curse. And much of the time has felt like punishment. I learned that for me having the least amount of humans in my life is best. People are overrated and life is overrated but I make my world worth living
