Still waiting for Ben to apologize for his comments on Jesus, he is not more Catholic, he said Jesus lead a revolution against the Romans and got killed for his troubles
I also think in popular culture in our lifetimes has many examples in television shows and movies this concept that the body is a shell. The one that springs to mind right away is that Klingons from Star Trek repeatedly teach that the body is just a shell.
It's precisely that separation of body, mind and soul, that has allowed the degradation of human dignity, to treat it as simple matter, objects of pleasure, productive objects (machines), intelectual objects (computers), etcétera. If our soul, body and mind were not in unity, the enemy wouldn't be able to condemn our souls through our actions and thoughts.
Thank you so much for posting this and for God showing me this. Upon reflection this ‘separation’ has certainly been ingrained in my understanding about life/death. I’m glad I’ve been shown my error, God designed us to be this unity of body and soul. Our limitedness actually enables us to express God’s love to its fullest in something as simple as holding out our hands for fellow human beings!
How exactly is rejecting Christ, rejecting the New Israel (Catholic Church), and advocating for the massacre of innocents, including our Christian brothers and sisters, in Palestine, even remotely Catholic?
I don't know why, in the Novus Ordo, they changed the response to "May the Lord be with you," to "and with your spirit," from "and also with you." Like, why do I only want the Lord with the priest's spirit? We're all about to take His body and blood into our bodies, so why "and with your spirit"?
The Novus Ordo per se did not change on this point. The response to "Dominus vobiscum" has always been "Et cum spiritu tuo." What changed in 2011 was a switch, in English, to a more literal translation.
Because it has always been that way both in the Latin Mass - "et cum Spiritu tuo", and even in Eastern Rite masses. English was an aberration that translated it into "and also with you", but it has always been "and with your spirit" in Spanish, French, Italian. "And with your Spirit" is only addressed to the ordained minister, and some scholars say it is to remind and assure him of the gift of the Holy Spirit that he received at ordination.
@@stratmatt22 is this a reply to me? I've never attended a Latin mass. I'm just referring to the change I noticed from attending mass 20+ years ago vs now.
Catholic here. I had this one doubt for a long time. Even my 8 yr old asked me this recently and i did not know how to answer. When we die and are resurrected bodily , what age would our body be in? At the end, in heaven, at what bodily age would we be living forever? At the age we died? The optimal healthiest age our body is in? or will there be no concept of age then? Cause when babies, kids and old people die , will their resurrected body appear at that same age? A question i just can't find a satisfactory answer to. Or maybe i am missing something. Is there any official teaching or writing about this?
You really don’t know what he is studying? He is good mates with Michael Knowles who is a classically educated Catholic who attends the Traditional Latin Mass. Ben is also a smart guy who can learn from conversations with people. That’s how he knows this stuff.
Christopher: You should not be too surprised that a jew is not a dualist. The non-dualistic view of human being is biblical (not only a New Testament view, but a biblical view). Why many Catholics have a dualistic view? I think it is because Plato's philosophy had a great influence on Christian thought during the first centuries. Do not miss that. And since Platonism is such a powerful philosophy, it is not surprising that it still influences the thinking of many.
As an Eastern Orthodox Christian, this is a basic understanding. I'd add the importance of Christ's Ascension into heaven 'in the flesh', and is seated at the right hand of the Father... in His humanity, in His flesh.
Does he renounce Talmud and Kabbalah? Then sure, otherwise: not a chance. Can’t serve to masters. Can’t serve Satan (Rabbinic Traditions) and God (Catholicism).
There is something Satanic about Kabbalah, which is Gnosticism for Jews, and the Talmud, an anti-Christian work, both developments after Jesus. If you are a Jew who only uses pre-Jesus sources, then you're still walking in the old covenant. Unfortunately, it is impossible to actually live the old covenant, because the Temple of Solomon is gone, replaced by the temples of the Catholic Church. I don't think Ben studies or agrees with Kabbalah, because I don't think he's 40 yet, and Jews aren't allowed to study it until they are 40. He does accept the Talmud, like most rabbinic Jews. Maybe when he begins Kabbalah study, he might realize it is gnostic and reject both.
Funny that I should hear today that Ben Shapiro has a better grasp on Catholic teaching than most Catholics. I've been thinking exactly that since watching and listening to him since Covid for my first time and thinking the same! It makes sense that since Christ came to us in a human body which he so humbly accepted for our sakes in the hypostatic union. That same body went with Him in the Ascension. Also the Blessed Mother was assumed into heaven, body and soul. So, if she who was full of grace and conceived without sin is in heaven in her earthly body, imagine how beyond glorious she will be to look at in that glorified body! Our physical bodies were important to our Lord. He referred to them as earthen vessels and as temples of the Holy Spirit. This body of ours will be raised at the Judgement to be joined to our souls! Awesome thought!
I think TOB needs to explore more the language of the Soul, especially with a focus on the language of the Heart. What’s the distinction between Soul and Spirit? Thomistic thought makes distinctions within the intellect. How does language of the soul engage with the psychological language of the individual?

As a behaviorally struggling Evangelical Christian, I think the narrator here would say many atheists are "more Christian" than I am because they behave better than I do. It depends on what one means by "Christian." If I trust Jesus' beatings, death and resurrection to pay for my seemingly infinite moral defeats while a well-behaved atheist senses no need for such a payment, who's "more Christian?"
Judaism speaks of a divine spark in every person. The unity of all souls is the goal, this is union with the One, God. When the body is separated, there are extreme Islamic beliefs and therefore it seems disdain for human life, this is the center of the world's controversy today, the thinking that we are separated.
2:37 For me specifically I had this sentiment about my body in a sense. But I think it comes mostly from the fact that this body is a fallen body, or I guess that the relationship between my body and my soul or spirit is broken and that in death and eventual resurrection, this will be fixed by God. So maybe in error the thought has risen that death leads to your true self, because it liberates you from your fallen body, but that’s incomplete. Death and eventual resurrection to our glorified bodies is the answer. Or something like that, I’m no theologian, I’m still trying to learn, but that’s my perspective on it.
To add to this, I guess the answer is not that matter or the flesh is gross. But our relationship to it is, which has been broken since and by original sin.
Mr. West, you are twisting the theology of the body from the perspective of the Catholic Church, because this theology is based directly on the scripture where God says in Genesis: "Yahweh God fashioned man of dust from the soil. Then he breathed into his nostrils a breath of life, and thus man became a living being." (Gen 2:7). So, man first was only a body and then received his spiritual life from God. Moreover, when every man dies, his soul comes out of his body and returns to God: “…or before the dust returns to the earth as it once came from it, and the breath to God who gave it.” (Eccl 12:7).
So your idea of Catholicism is some esoteric knowledge about metaphysics? What a complete farce. Let me ask you, does Ben’s rejection of Jesus also make him a “more” Catholic than Christ’s followers?
what’s matter matters? if you could use scripture… everything has a language attributable to their field of career… so does bible bearing… schools & scholars are at least articulate to theological meaning.
He doesn’t condemn the slaughter of children in Gaza he backs it with his silences and lack of defence for children being blown up if that’s your idea of being close to a catholic you might want to ask yourself what being catholic actually is….
Israel has the right to defend itself. This has been happening for decades. Every single ceasefire was broken by the Palestinians. If innocents are harmed during war, blame the aggressor… Hamas. Why do you believe Israel should do nothing and let their own children be killed. Your double standard is nothing less than antisemitism.
It doesn’t surprise me that Ben as a religious Jew would have a better understanding of these concepts than most Christians. The basis of Judaism’s is the study of the Old Testament and how body’s purpose is to serve God in a very intentional and direct manner. When it comes to the Old Testament or about Gods intention or relationship with man , religious Jews have a much deeper understanding of this concept . While I am Catholic , I have a great deal of respect for Judaism .

I'm with you, but calling out "heresy", while truthful, may not be prudent. See where people with this dualism are coming from. We suffer a lot in our bodies; when we age, we are more likely to experience chronic pain. What people with this dualism may be expressing is a simple anticipation of freedom from pain. They probably don't realize that our glorified bodies will be free of it.
My favorite piece of Ben's career is when he called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestine like 20 years ago. If anyone else did that, their career would be done yet here we are, Ben is just trucking away.

Unlike the earliest fathers, many later writers came to regard it a dirty thought that Mither Mary should really marry Joseph. They think that they are too holy souls who avoided contacting two things of matter, rather than seeing the two bodies of two marrying sacred soyls as part if that sacred personal connection. Before assuring that it didnt happen till after the virgin birth of JESUS, we are told an Angel told Joseph, before he could end the betrothal, he should not fear furthermore to go one step further: do not fear to take her to yourself. Up to Origen it seems all accepted the thing Helvidius knew. Jerome says to the west which had never had the idea Epiphanius adopted from third century books, that he admitted he was furst to suggest the cousin theory. Until he came up with it, he accepted neither of the two earlier views. If we could accept what Mary's state of grace implies for all recipients of the HOLY SPIRIT, we would surrender our bodies to GOD and trust the Body of CHRIST makes us part of the mystical Body of CHRIST. To think bodily marriage would have violated Mary is to blaspheme the HOLY SPIRIT from WHOM is every sacray, including Marriage.
Touching the ark of the covenant got you killed in the old times. How much worse would it be to become intimate with the ark of the new covenant? The most likely historical facts: Joseph was an older widower taking a younger orphaned consecrated virgin into his home. The only proper way to do that was to become betrothed to her, and then not consummate the marriage.

This title is essentially clickbait but not bad since the content is really good.
God bless you. That's all I can say.
God bless you too!
The error of Zionism alone rule him out - let alone denying most Christian doctrines.
🙏
Descartes is not a dualist. That’s a myth. He believed in material things the body, immaterial things the mind and the union of both.
ben has studied moses mainmonides-as did aquinas. ben knows well aristotle's hylomorphism
He's also studied Aquinas.
❤
Our moral laws come from Judaism. Our views should be the same.
You are right here, but careful. Shapiro is not always right, not even always intellectually honest.
Great clip Chris, well defined. Thanks for breaking it down, and bringing it to attention. 🫶
Thanks for watching @saintjoshua1 !
Moreover, when every man dies, his soul comes out of his body and returns to God: “…or before the dust returns to the earth as it once came from it, and the breath to God who gave it.” (Eccl 12:7).
emmeaningment, my new favorite world
The problem with what Ben is Saying is that Jews at least the Saducees, neglect the spiritual nature of the body.
I was looking for this comment specifically. It depends on which branch or sect we're talking about here.
He still hates Christ and thinks very low of Him and His mother. So this is a wild take
2 Corinthians 5:8
But we came from the jews😊
So your idea of Catholicism is some esoteric knowledge about metaphysics? What a complete farce. Let me ask you, does Ben’s rejection of Jesus also make him a “more” Catholic than Christ’s followers?
Sadly the title is pure clickbait.
what’s matter matters? if you could use scripture… everything has a language attributable to their field of career… so does bible bearing…
schools & scholars are at least articulate to theological meaning.
Ugh, maybe those priests so mention it once an awhile. Especially at funerals.
Nice Orthodox icon :)
It was a gift from a Brazilian iconographer! We love it.
No, he is not
Clearly didn’t watch the video or understand the point Christopher is making.
@@gc3563you can tell exactly who this dude is from his comment lol
@@gc3563 you are 100% correct. I didn't watch the video. Just the title was triggering enough. Can you tell if he was using irony or something? At some point, does he recognizes that the title is click bait? Should I reconsider and watch it?
@@realcrazyfrog Yes you should reconsider... You must understand that all content creations have to use the algorithm to get the best audience possible.
@@josephgoemans6948 ok, I just watched the video. To your point, I understand how every RUclipsr wants their content to reach the majority of people possible. But that does not justify that fact that he just called Ben Shapiro, the same person who has not only supported, but became the spokesman for the genocide of millions of Palestinians, more Catholic than most Catholics. Based on what? Only on the fact that Ben also believes in the unity of body and soul? How about the fact that Catholic means universal, but Ben believes Jews are the chosen people?
to be fair to catholics who find solace in ritualistic ceremony & shifts or to non-catholics changes during moments in a day that breaks away from overworking a subject or topic - segways mood or discussion into monotoned acknowledgement resetting the environment without frill or casual banter. I know no-other faith that ritualizes this way… apart from those who officially pray along with their community. I don’t operate as catholic cause I never understood how it gives life. Historically wasn’t the catholic church a way to tolerate persecution? How is that important anymore?
You talk too much, let Ben speak
From my hazy recognition of my old days in the church i dont remember the church being overly indulgent in sharing much knowledge beyond he basics of keeping you fearful of ever considering leaving the pews ( in my case they failed, I got lucky)
The true meaning of Christianity returns, not JC personally. It starts here. The proper understanding that biblical creation is of spiritual nature, not material nature has been discovered. Biblical creation is metaphors for psychological factors not material and is the creation of Adam.
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRISTIANITY. (sequence)
I will send you Elijah before the great day of the lord.(the nutball has arrived.
1 The entrance of Elijah the messenger. Embodied in the knowledge of the Old Seers.
2 Christianity as present of the world is proven false.
3 The world falls into disbelief.
4 The world mostly takes on the new knowledge.
5 Governments are removed or become inert. 2 camps are created one good-the greater number falls away.
6 The good leave the cities, go into hiding for safety.
7 End time arrives. The evil with no governance destroy their own kind.
8 Proper Christianity remains. e
Grotesque sycophancy
My favorite piece of Ben's career is when he called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestine like 20 years ago. If anyone else did that, their career would be done yet here we are, Ben is just trucking away.
The tiny hat group controls everything so you shouldn’t be so surprised
Oys to the veys,
Shutzz ithh daaaawn.
The go to the yim knowest
You mean: ISRAEL? There is no such thing as “palestine.” That’s a fictional propaganda created in the 60’s.
He has a whole article of things that he has apologized for or changed his mind on. That's probably on there.
Obviously Jews don't control everything, or are incredibly inept at it, because here you are openly hating them and not receiving any jail time. Maybe calm down with the hate.
So this is how you apply for a job at the Daily Wire now days
this is stupid.
6:22 Marxism
