After a chick has fledged, before it can fly independently, it can hop to a branch near its nest to wait for an adult to bring food for it. It may wait in the same spot for several days for the parent to return with food. While in Ecuador, I had the experience of seeing a juvenile Harpy Eagle waiting on a branch near its nest for its parents to return, but couldn't stay long enough for the feeding. Thank you for your wonderful program.

A local zoo used to have harpy eagles and because of their sheer size, their claws and their enclosure being mostly shaded by trees I remember them being the only animal I was afraid of as a kid

I had the opportunity to see them in a zoo, and for no reason at all one of them really wanted to kill my partner and I lol. Became one of my favorite animals right then and there haha
