agree on bier de luxe, being a piss artist and a skinflint, I've tested loads of cheap beers and it's my favourite
A truly epic undertaking. It's like watching a guy wearing flip-flops climb Mount Everest. You can't look away because you expect disaster at every turn, but somehow dude just keeps ascending. Very entertaining, man. This had to be a ton of work to put together. Well deserved like on this one.
3 hours collecting the beers from various supermarkets, started filming at 7pm, finished uploading at 1am this morning, then another 2 hours this morning adding all the various tags.
as always though loved the whole process mate.

If you search "Swansea Craft Beer" on RUclips your video is the top result. It's evergreen content. This video will do well, and it will get views for years. Just need one of these videos to go viral and hit that 1M views. Cheers

I know it should be the taste that determines the ultimate outcome without label snobbery, I do bulk at paying a £1 a can for Asda, even if it is branded ‘premium’. One of my favourite sayings in a restaurant to the waiter is: - “Why would I choose a £xx bottle of wine to go with my meal when the best wine costs £2000 a bottle and you need to make sure you pick the correct year”. Whereas (before the watering down games currently being played) you can drink the best beers in the world for between four to seven pounds a pint, whether that be Bishops Finger, Abbot Ale, Scrumpy Jack, Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin, Pedigree Blue Label, Tanglefoot, Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Erdinger, Leffe Brune, Blue Moon, it is guaranteed to be one of the best beers you can have.
this was great fun! very entertaining. you should do one of these for each season! and if you want to go mad, definitely do this for oktoberfest brews lol

Drank steinhauser for about 8 years now, bought it on the off chance once and I’m still surprised how good it is. Used to be about £3 for 6. Always worth getting 12 bottles so you’re stocked up.

Been buying steinhauser this last week and agree it’s great !£5.30 for 6, makes it £4 cheaper for 24 bottles than Costco for 24 peroni on offer. And it’s nice !
The white can you used to drink from Lidl was Excelsior aswel, the can has changed numerous times over the years and the abv has too but only from 3.9% to the 4% it is today. Surprised to didn't like the galereux I really enjoy that one.

Apparently it's made by DAB Dortmund Brewery.... a really excellent German Dortmunder style beer. Traditionally a coal-miners beer... a simple and refreshing beer, perhaps designed to be necked rather than sipped. Very refreshing, nice and yeasty and easy to drink, not as dry as some lagers perhaps..
Fascinating stuff. We use Lidl when we’re in Spain, some 4.9% beer there, is 24p a can. There’s a 7.5% stout (500ml) for under a quid. I’ve started doing the budget tour here. Thanks for doing this video.

Argos(lidl's) is the product of Van Pur, a polish brewery, you can find their beer under their name too, they brew for other supermarkets too, like Penny Market.

After trying most of the supermarket lagers over the last few months I'd have to agree here. My favourite is the lidl argus bottles, second favourite is perlenbacher. Can't argue with the argus for about £0.70 a pint
Started drinking Biere de luxe from asda because of your review - it’s great value for money for a session lager, I’ve really got a taste for it now. Start with a Stella or staropramen unfiltered or 2 then onto biere de luxe - happy man 😊 cheers

It's an old video on the day I'm commenting but omg I remember being there, I've worked 6 days, and then gone shopping with the wife and kids the foods in the trolley and there aint a lot left in the kitty, some weeks nothing at all, 4 cans have been a treat and I've shared with the wife. she only ever had one . Would I change things? Part of me screams YES, but I think I appreciate what I now have way more because of that experience, a vidoe like this would have saved me drinking a lot of very bad beer back in the day, Top Marks Sir 👍🍺🍻👍

Love my hoppy lagers. I typically use 34/70. I make a Two Hearted inspired beer with 34/70 and it comes out fantastic.

The Asda Pilsner at 5% is my go-to cheapo beer. £3.34 for 4 cans in my local store and I think its proper decent. Other people must agree, it flies off the shelf! Don't agree on the Asda Biere deluxe however!

I'm a big fan of LIDL's Perlenbacher in cans! Its bloody great and doesn't have a tinny quality to me!

Aldi's Galahad 79 lager testes amazing and it's only one euro for a can. It's different from their regular Galahad lager. It's about 2.7% apv by is very smooth and with a lot of aroma

One slight criticism though is the amount of beer that has been poured down the sink! I know it would be impossible for most to review 30 beers and drink the whole thing in a row!!!!!

@@joebidensdentures4541 yes I reckon more competition in the economy beer market here could only help the overall quality. Look at the effect the craft/higher quality explosion of beer had in America. Long gone are the days of the three choices .... Bud,miller,Coors ...yea!
Love your videos Simon, ya really know your beers.... Not sure they got a proper test though but i'm aware the video was only a bit of summer fun.... Glasses need to be cleaned properly for a real taste test, also need to be tested under the same conditions and i'm sure your taste buds "enthusiasm/enjoyment dwindled after a few".
