Something I found it helps us to learn just a few bollards or just a few license plates. Get them down really well, and then play the game. This way even if you look at the bollard and get it wrong, you will be learning. The reason it’s important to learn a few first is because it reminds you to look and pay attention to them while you’re playing the game
Yup.. I had a dream the other night in which I was identifying bollards. When I woke up, I realized that the bollards in my dreams had all been incorrect and the ones for different countries.
Funfact: the “hats “ on the austrian bollards are snow poles. At the start of the winter the local governmant drives trough the streets and pulls the snow poles out of the bollards
In Sweden there will be two white dots on the left side, and a white rectangle on the right side. The only exception is the reflector can be orange, on the bollard before and after an exiting road or parking space.
In the Netherlands an Belgium, inside of villages you will often see these (used to be wood, now mostly recycled plastic) poles, with sort of a pyramid on top and 2 reflectors going all around the pole. You dont really see these outside of those two countries.
Very good and informative video. Still, living in Austria, I want to add something. The „hat“ is actually the tip of an extendable snow pole and is not included in all Austrian bollards. The others look just like the ones in gormer Yugoslavia. Although it has to be mentioned that I‘m not capable of telling you if the type with the poles possibly exists there as well.
You usually tell those countries apart by other features and not bollards. I'd suggest checking out some of my other tip videos where I talk about them as well. :)
I'm very confused on how you categorised Russia & Ukraine as different 3:34 whereas for me they look same as Croatia & Hungary 4:05 is there something I'm not noticing ?
Russia has many different bollards but generally, Hungarian ones will have a slanted top while Russian ones will have a straight one. If you wanna practice bollards, I'd suggest trying my map "Attractive bollards of the Universe" :)

I used to laugh about nerds. Now I'm here :)
Welcome! :D
I've been waiting for this, the master of bollards as spoken! Thank you for the quality content, i learned a lot as always.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Today’s task: study bollards. Weekends are wild these days 😂
I love that plan! :D
I am sure I will have nightmares about bollards, street lines, sky rifts and poles 😂😂😂
I have had dreams about them :D

Bollards are such a fun thing to spot, and they are very helpful to help determine where you're at!
Yeah, definitely!

Hmm, I've seem many different bollards in Sweden as well.
@@GeoPeter very late response ahah and u probably already know but this bollard is in many countries. Saw it in estonia today

Thanks for the info! :)
Very useful, Peter, thanks!
Could you do a video on electricity poles? Do you know enough about them?
Otherwise, keep them bollard videos coming.
Great suggestion! Not my forte but I probably could do some research and make a video about poles as well. :)
These are very useful tips and it actually work!! Thank to GeoPeter.
Glad to hear that!
@GeoPeter the Danish bollards are quite distinctive.
They are white with a red reflective stripe at the top with an orange square :)
That is true! They have very lovely bollards! Belgian ones can be very similar though.
In NZ we also have an orange version of our road markers for alpine roads.
Thanks for the info!

another thing for USA, we also have green mile marker reflectors on most highways, that should be a telltale sign that you are in the US
And in built up areas they may be blue and many have the actual highway logo on them too.
Usually only on interstates. It's rare to see them on any other highway.
Ive needed this... Can you please so an updated version for more countries eg Columbia and Japan... South America and south-east Asia

Want to add that the Slovenia bollards can have black stripe as well, he got that one wrong , where he said that he knows it's light color for sure
Hmm, can they? It might be possible in some rare cases.
@@GeoPeter When i wrote that comment i had just lost a game because the stripe was black, and i was really confused which country I'm in
@@GeoPeter i will find it on map maker and send the name of place here
I can still only recognize Poland, Iceland and UK bollards. I got a lot to learn
Practice makes perfect :)
The Bollard madness
loved the video :) more pls
Thanks for the support!
I'm very confused on how you categorised Russia & Ukraine as different 3:34 whereas for me they look same as Croatia & Hungary 4:05
is there something I'm not noticing ?
The red reflector is longer in Croatia/Hungary case :)
Super useful info! These things can be lifesavers in harder rounds.
Glad it was helpful!
yay
1:09 sexy bollards of the universe 💀
Hey Peter
Is there any possibility on doing a tips video for architecture or foliage/trees?
I'm not very good at those aspects so probably not any time soon :)
Hello Peter! How are you doing?
Thanks, doing great, man! Hope you are doing good as well! :D
Lol the grey bottoms on the west aussie bollards are just the unpainted bits. The wood is super old and grey ✌
Ahh, I didn't know that. ^^
How do I access that website he is using? I can’t seem to find it.
Which website? Are you talking about GeoGuessr?
@@GeoPeterSorry, I didn’t clarify. The map maker section of GeoGuessr where you were able to click on parts of the map and bollards would pop up.
Hey im not sure if you still comment, but whats the difference between Russian and Hungarian bollards? Thanks
Russia has many different bollards but generally, Hungarian ones will have a slanted top while Russian ones will have a straight one. If you wanna practice bollards, I'd suggest trying my map "Attractive bollards of the Universe" :)
@@GeoPeter ok thanks
the new zealand poles i found in poland
Would make sense with Czechs and Slovakia since they were one country at one time.
Yeah, exactly! :)
If am going to be in the GEOPRIX I better start revising first off bollards!!
Good luck! ^^
Hello Peter, how are you doing?
Thanks, doing great! :D
This video is utter Bollards!!!!
great tips, but the background music is really distracting
Thanks for the feedback! I stopped using background music a while ago! :)
i keep rewatching this but i can't seem to memorize it :((
It comes with practice the best. When you get bollards in game, try to pay more attention to them even if you don't remember. :)
@@GeoPeter thank you bro
I make flashcards 😂
I hate bollards :P. But I love this video :D.
Thanks, man! Glad you found it useful!
W--why is there a rift in the sky above montenegro? .__.
Don’t know but if there’s a rip in the sky it’s usually Senegal, montenegro or Albania 😂
Cause of some errors while merging the photos taken. :D Rarely but you can also get them in other countries besides Montenegro, Albania and Senegal.
@@GeoPeter ah makes sense I actually just saw a sky rip in Greece :D
@@GeoPeter That's super helpful to know. Thanks!
I love you so much wooaaaaaaaa
Thank you so much wooaaaaaaaa!
what am i doing with life
Learning ^^
I suck at Bollards haha (im JayIsOke)
You will get better for sure ^^
