Re: moving vlogs - show it all and in real time. I think it'd be a mountain of footage to attempt to edit and make sense of after the fact, but also, you can do Q+As, FAQs, whatever to address specifics afterwards and when you're settled and have perspective. Showing the amount of time and effort it really takes to move overseas is super valuable!

Fellow North American girlie living in the UK with her UK husband! On the buying front - just wanted to give you a heads up that unless you have idenfinite leave to remain, you will be VERY hard pressed to find a high street bank that'll give you a mortgage. Doesnt matter if your husband is from the UK. Some smaller mortgage providers might, but it might be a bit trickier than you guys anticipated. Good luck❤
@MarySkinner Yeah, some High Street Banks would do it but with a 25% deposit minimum, which if you have, great! Others said a flat out no. It IS possible but just might need a Mortgage advisor. Truly wish you the best of luck though, living in the UK is an absolute blast ☺️♥️

I can see the benefits of both having specified moving videos or including them in normal vlog content. Moving out of country is a long and drawn out process and having content sprinkled around throughout the process (in either format) would realistically reflect that - I would do what you prefer, either from a shooting/editing standpoint, or from a “video journal” type of lens, as I could see this content being something you look back on in time and reflect on the big changes in your life. I also want to say you talking about relocating overseas is something I love hearing about, both in the physical prep but also the mental/emotional component you discussed in the podcast. I highly identify with having that lifelong desire to live elsewhere, and I see some of your content as an aspect of manifesting that for myself in the future.
I was in the midst of planning a move from VA to Australia (ended up not happening though) and the BIGGEST help was the animal moving service! they took care of all forms/visas/flights/etc. ANYTHING that needed to be filled out or taken care of they were on top of it. It was also such a sense of relief knowing that my dog was going to be on a livestock flight and in a cabin that was pressure controlled and had air circulation. but I will send happy thoughts that your baby has a smooth transition! if you need any tips on the process I pretty much went through it all! xoxo

I had the opportunity to move to the UK after growing up in WV and got to live there for 4 years before coming back..... I love the US as my home country but the UK now feels like home. I lived overseas thanks to the DOD and I hope to go back again but without big daddy government. I hope you love living in Scotland, I didn't get to live there as I lived near Cambridge but it was everything being able to visit on the weekends. We just moved abroad with our Golden to the UK around 4 months ago, and British Airways does a direct overnight flight to London Heathrow that worked great!

Im in the military and just moved to England last year with my pets. The 14 days was the estimated time for it to process through UK customs once it arrived in port for me, it took about 2.5 months for it to actually leave US port and cross the Atlantic. I also used a pet shipping company, Silver Birch, and it was a life saver. The hardest thing for me to move into my UK house was my big queen mattress bc their rooms and stairwells are just so tiny!! But I’m so glad I did. Wish you so much luck in your overseas move to the UK ❤️❤️❤️

So I say however you want to look back on this time, like watching your own vlogs as video diaries from this time. Whether that be loving to look back on the Move, filmed with your daily vlogs to see it all together during this time in your life or special dedicated moving vlogs as its own thing to look back on. It may help if your interested, I heard bc does mess hormonally but if you do get off it in the future- maybe get a Dutch hormone test/func doc to help with that transition and even findng root cause of that period pain. Anyways I thoroughly enjoyed this video, I think I really enjoy your content because it's like catching up with a friend in a non-parasocial way lol. Like your just so natural and its vibe I get when I'm with my friends.
okay, so I'm 13 years older than you and if I were to give you (admittedly, unsolicited) advice re: career/future/whatever, I would tell you from the bottom of my heart to go for whatever you want. Don't let anyone, including yourself, hold you back from whatever it is. I think you're an absolute gem as a content creator for several reasons but I also think you're something that's rarer than you give yourself credit for. Part of that is you're young (I'm not aiming to condescend here) and you don't quite have the life experience just yet to realize how great and refreshing you are. It is the thing about Gen Z that I love the most: y'all are whole ass people out of the gate. You are not interested in being small or trying to fit a mold. You know the game is rigged and you're not interested in playing it. So, you just let it all out. Mental health, 360 wellness, body acceptance, leveling up in life, romanticizing beverages because holy sh*t life is hard. These seem insignificant in the moment, but the vulnerability required to document your life so others feel less alone is admirable. I would highly encourage you to keep it up. Also, you're lucky in that sponsored content doesn't have the negativity it used to. So, make that money. We'll use your codes/buy your merch/whatever to keep you going.

Regarding moving vlogs, maybe you could accumulate content of you decluttering specific spaces (wardrobe, makeup/beauty, etc.) and compile that content to make into separate, dedicated moving vlogs (i.e. 'moving vlog: declutter my makeup with me'). You could maybe even save those videos to post nearer to the time so that you have some content to fall back on during what could be a stressful time. And then maybe you could just include little snippets of packing/decluttering other bits and bobs in your normal vlogs (maybe time lapse style?). I also imagine filming more sit down video updates of the visa process could also be helpful for anyone looking to go through that process in the future. Either way, the more content the merrier 😅
Mary, I am a US Immigration Attorney who is now married to a British Citizen. Witnessing both sides, I confident say that the UK Immigration system is by far superior than the US. For instance, my fiancé visa was processed and approved in 14 days!! No lie! If we had chosen to get married in the US it would have been a minimum of 9 months. I hope yours goes as smoothly as well!!
this might be a weird question but are you taking the Bronco with you as well? would it be the same way as shipping your other things? Would you need to buy a car there?
You can ship a car (it’s very expensive), but the UK has a lot more emissions restrictions than the U.S. We plan to sell it to family before we move and we’ll have to get a car there eventually
Loved your video! As someone who just got my green card after 12 years of living in the States I absolutely understand the stress and sacrifice of that process. If this question is too personal, please don’t feel like you need to answer, but it is my understanding that to keep your residency you need to spend a specific amount of time in the States. Are you guys going to go back and forth until Matt becomes a citizen, or is he okay giving up his residency? I’m curious because I’m a Polish citizen and this is something I have been thinking about a lot when considering ever moving back to Europe.
you do need to spend time in the States to retain your green card, so we will try to keep that going as long as possible! Matt doesn’t intent to revoke UK citizenship and I don’t intent to revoke mine
We won’t stay in Edinburgh for too long because we want to live in the countryside, but we don’t have any plans to come back to the US as of now. We might someday, but this is a pretty permanent move

Mixed - on one hand, it very effectively stops my clenching and grinding. on the other, it is harder to chew certain foods like steak, my jaw gets tired sometimes, and it changed my face shape. so it depends on your needs and what you’re willing to give up! I might try another nightguard this year and let my jaw go back to normal, we’ll see. definitely works though!

My in-laws sent a bunch of furniture/home supplies from the UK to the US and it took 6 months - some of these companies let the container fill up before shipping it. Definitely don't put clothes in there unless you're okay not seeing them for a long time!
Commenting again to say getting off birth control was hell for me 😵💫 i had a lot of negative side effects so i got off but it negatively affected me mentally and i ended up having to up my anxiety/depression meds. It took like a year to really even out so just be prepared for that! I ended up with the copper iud and really like it but it took a while

He was here for several years before he decided to get his citizenship but it had made travel to see his family so much easier for him.

highly recommend the copper IUD, Paraguard, it’s birth control and emergency contraception w/o pumping hormones like the pill or other IUDs
I’ve heard that can make periods more painful or make blood flow heavier, so I’m a little nervous 😥 that’s one of the biggest things I’d like to avoid

Regarding moving vlogs, maybe you could accumulate content of you decluttering specific spaces (wardrobe, makeup/beauty, etc.) and compile that content to make into separate, dedicated moving vlogs (i.e. 'moving vlog: declutter my makeup with me'). You could maybe even save those videos to post nearer to the time so that you have some content to fall back on during what could be a stressful time. And then maybe you could just include little snippets of packing/decluttering other bits and bobs in your normal vlogs (maybe time lapse style?). I also imagine filming more sit down video updates of the visa process could also be helpful for anyone looking to go through that process in the future.
Either way, the more content the merrier 😅
Mary, I am a US Immigration Attorney who is now married to a British Citizen. Witnessing both sides, I confident say that the UK Immigration system is by far superior than the US. For instance, my fiancé visa was processed and approved in 14 days!! No lie! If we had chosen to get married in the US it would have been a minimum of 9 months. You can ship a car (it’s very expensive), but the UK has a lot more emissions restrictions than the U.S. We plan to sell it to family before we move and we’ll have to get a car there eventually

If this question is too personal, please don’t feel like you need to answer, but it is my understanding that to keep your residency you need to spend a specific amount of time in the States. Are you guys going to go back and forth until Matt becomes a citizen, or is he okay giving up his residency? I’m curious because I’m a Polish citizen and this is something I have been thinking about a lot when considering ever moving back to Europe.
you do need to spend time in the States to retain your green card, so we will try to keep that going as long as possible! Matt doesn’t intent to revoke UK citizenship and I don’t intent to revoke mine

We won’t stay in Edinburgh for too long because we want to live in the countryside, but we don’t have any plans to come back to the US as of now. We might someday, but this is a pretty permanent move

Mixed - on one hand, it very effectively stops my clenching and grinding. on the other, it is harder to chew certain foods like steak, my jaw gets tired sometimes, and it changed my face shape. so it depends on your needs and what you’re willing to give up! I might try another nightguard this year and let my jaw go back to normal, we’ll see. definitely works though!

My in-laws sent a bunch of furniture/home supplies from the UK to the US and it took 6 months - some of these companies let the container fill up before shipping it. Definitely don't put clothes in there unless you're okay not seeing them for a long time!

Commenting again to say getting off birth control was hell for me 😵💫 i had a lot of negative side effects so i got off but it negatively affected me mentally and i ended up having to up my anxiety/depression meds. It took like a year to really even out so just be prepared for that! I ended up with the copper iud and really like it but it took a while
if you declutter videos I don’t think they should be a dedicated video for it now. since the move is kinda far away still. maybe just a segment in your regular content

you used the word "average" to describe yourself as a creator and the content you produce, but I think that the normalcy and realness you present is why you are so loved! so many people are tired of watching creators who only post the best parts of their lives, make sure everything is aesthetic, live very extravagantly, etc. I think that in comparison to that genre of content you may feel like you are "average" but we love you for your realness! most definitely an above-average creator

@@MarySkinner the immigration process is awful. We spent so much time and money trying to get my ex-husband proper documents. I feel like every time we did one thing we needed to do another. He was here for several years before he decided to get his citizenship but it had made travel to see his family so much easier for him.
