    I am losing my voice due to a neurological condition, so I'm learning to sign. Your videos are so helpful, and are giving me the confidence to carry on communicating, albeit in a different way. Thanks so much for putting this resource out there.

    I was told I'd need to learn makaton in my job as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities but rarely use it, so decided to learn BSL as I enjoy signing. Your videos are brilliant, so clear and explanatory. Thank you

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for your videos. They are all clear, well thought out and understanding of our needs learning. I am 63. At school I was told I was stupid and always put to the back of the class. When I left school I went to join the Navy, There they found I had a congenital hearing problem - I can’t hear high tones, I miss the high tones in people’s voices etc. So I was not “thick” at school - I just could not hear the teacher. Luckilly the Navy was desperate for people to do my job and so they wrote to the admiralty for dispensation and they gave it as I would not be working with sonar, radar etc. But I always wanted to learn BSL but never had the chance. I wear two hearing aids and feel embarrassed when I can not sign anything to people who are totally deaf or also have hearing problems. But also because of my difficulties, I feel not having the chance to learn BSL has been depriving me of part of who I should be ans what I should be able to do. When I found your videos, they are so clear and helpful, I practice believe it or not, with one of the staff at a veterans day centre I attend, who can sign a little, So it is good, Each week watching your videos. And it is funny. Others are looking at us and we will suddenly start laughing. They think we have told a funny joke - but it is mostly because we misunderstood something one of us has said. So thank you, thank yourm thank you for finally giving me the chance to learn BSL!

    Thanks Dan for all the new content. Love the 100 signs series gives a broad spectrum of vocabulary for repetitive learners like myself . Shorter clips have been brilliant for fine tuning signing , expanding vocabulary and understanding sentence structure. Love the format you use really clear to follow .

    🖐on another of your video you made you have used the full palm for 'stop' and this one is like a beak pecking for 'stop', and the other one i noticed is using the thumb into the palm for 'hard' and this one you use a fist. When there are more than one way for a word please keep using both in your videos as it gets confusing when i have learnt some signs only for them to change. 👍👍Thank you for making as these are great with lots of variety.

    I’ve noticed that the hand with just the pinky finger sticking out is often used for words with negative connotations, like ugly, dirty, worse, fail etc. Is there a similar pattern with any other hand “positions”?

    • @CommandingHands
      @CommandingHands  3 года назад +8

      Good observation, the little finger extended is associated with a lot of negative signs. The thumbs up handshape is often used for signs with a positive meaning. Some handshapes are representative of shapes, for example a fist will often be used to describe anything spherical like a ball. Thanks for watching.

      he uses his dominant hand to sign. So if you are also right handed, the signs mainly use the right hand (rotate yourself round to where he is and then do the same sign - his right hand does the same sign as your right hand), if you are left handed then you mirror him (his right hand is your left). Sorry, may not describe it in the easiest way but hope it makes sense.
