@sailingmaalie Scotland we only started sailing 2 years ago and have been enjoying our wonder Scottish west coast in our 36 foot .... you guys are inspiring us to go further afield
@thesophiagibson some of the best cruising in the world there, what a place! We were in Oban for 5 years before going up to Shetland. See you out there sometime hopefully ! ⛵️⛵️🌊🌊
We've spent a lot of time in and around Tregastel over the years so it was really exciting to see you there! Also really enjoyed the video editing, music choice and overlaid maps on this one :) Stay safe
With the massive tides it was very impressive how much Tregastel changed when the tide flooded. It went from a bay sheltered by rocks, to completely exposed to open water! Thanks for the feedback on music and maps, that helps alot! Cheers
@@sailingmaalie Bought mine in Croatia so have sailed this and last year for our family holidays but probably move through the Med next year. She needs to stretch her legs!
@@sailingmaalie Yes, made it from the plans only as John's first customer in 2012-13. He left me his innovative venture when he died in 2023. We had been on many sails together or in company till then.
Ah fantastic, you must know your way around them then! I would have loved to meet John and show him ours, its a marvel to watch it work. Hoping the new venture for you is going well 👍🏼
Great stuff, as ever. 👍 Witnessing tuna at work well worth the time delay. Astonishing! Hope I didn't jinx things with advertising comments last time. RUclips bread and butter. Of course, ye're just in it for the artistic content 😊 All the best to the pair o ye and hope all's well.
Eyo Mark thanks for commenting! Man it was wild, car sized tuna left right and centre! No jinx at all, very valid comments. Hopefully folks don't mind a few ads here and there to cover the cost of producing the vids - otherwise we have set up a Patreon if folks are keen to support 😁 Cheers Mark and same to yersel!
Did you catch the fantastic Maritime Festival of Brest, 2 weeks ago? Maybe you were gone well before. If you've yet to visit Camaret sur Mer, i am there, living afloat past 6 years, after officially making it home, left the UK. Along with Douarnenez, it's my inspiration, for it's wild coast, and that feeling of being at the edge of things, a place of voyagers, where dreams are on the wide horizon. Bon voyage.
Missed the festival, but will look out for it and yourself next time we are there! Camaret sur Mer was an amazing place we loved it. Black bream fishing was great too :)
Great to see a couple cruising in a more affordable older yacht. Wow that tidal stream in the estuary sure was running hard. How do you find the semi rigid solar panel on the guard wires? I was thinking of doing similar but have only seen rigid aluminium framed panels being used, which clearly are much heavier.
Hi Graham, thsnks for commenting and the kind comments :) The semi-rigid panel works very well. The two inboard corners are simply shackled to the guard wire, and there is a flexible windsurf joint glassed to he centre of the panel. A narrow stainless strut is used to prop up the panel to face the sun. Will be doing a boat tour vid soon and more details over on Patreon. Cheers for noo!
Is Port du Brest a public dock or a paid marina? Some great footage in this film. Is there a reason why sailors journey across the Bay Of Biscay rather than just doing the coastline route around (other than the shortest route)? Happy travels.
It's a paid marina, with full facilities and locked gate etc. I think we paid about €20 for the night. It's a much shorter route to go straight across Biscay, as you say, and being offshore means we can let Maalie stretch her legs in Atlantic swells and clock up some miles :)
Hey Stefano! We definitely will, NS looks amazing on camera! Need to get across the Atlantic first.. It was awesome to meet you and your fam ! All the best Joe & Solene
Boat tour vid is coming soon. We find boat interior designs to be vastly different, especially in more modern designs. Maalie has a classic layout designed for offshore sailing
Enjoyed the video. Good job with the editing. The bluefins must have been quite the sight. Those tides are incredible, definitely keeps you on your toes.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback! Lots of footage from all over the place so was fun putting together the story. Ah the bluefin experience was MENTAL!!

Money plant’s looking happy over there!!
Aha yes! I think secretly its a French plant, now in protest and shedding leaves
Another great film guys, some great footage... Acrobatic tuna to Cool As vintage Dufour breezing past.
Enjoy the trip!!🤙
Brilliant to see how you’re getting on. The meeting with the tuna shoal looked amazing - worth being late for the tides!! All the best from Anna & me.
Great to hear from you Alastair! We had a wild time getting round to Brest, now time to prep for the big blue! All the best to you and Anna X
We are enjoying following you guys
Hey Sophia, thanks for following along! Where are you watching from??

One of the best videos I have seen a huge Thankyou
Ah huge thanks for saying so - glad you enjoyed it Matt!
I love seeing other sailors experiences as they pass through our area. Great watch!
Haha I bet, those big tides certainly kept us on our toes. Thanks for commenting! 😁😁

Yes ! Hoping to head your way next year from Cornwall 😊
Yeeeo nice! What boat are you on?? ⛵️
Great video. I’ve waited with anticipation. As a R34 owner it’s great to see Maalie. Hope to see the next video soon. Safe travels.
Appreciate it Kevin, glad you're enjoying them. Our boats are strong as houses - where do you sail yours? Next vid will be out soon! Cheers ⛵️

Thanks for commenting, next up - Biscay!
Great video once again. Best regards from Jarle
