Reiner's character arc is one of the best in all of anime. He has the Arc of a hero, a protagonist, but he is the enemy to Eren and co because he does not know his backstory, same to Reiner. When he realized that these people are innocent he felt macrocosmic amounts of shame and guilt. He still has to complete his mission, dispite how these people are, it's his duty as a warrior, for his family. And when Eren finds out about what Reiner has been through, he forgives him because he has been through the same situation as Reiner, going behind enemy lines for the good of his nation. I want a series told from Reiner's perspective, I want to see inside his head from the day he was born and see what he is thinking through this story. Imagine his first fight with Eren but we see Reiner thoughts instead of erens, what contrasts flow through the story when we see it through Reiner?

I don't get it, if none of the marleyans can transform into titans, why don't the titan shifters realize they're fighting for the wrong side(even though there's not really a wrong side, but it's better to pick your own family than another) and just rebel against the marleyans to save their family, it would literally be so easy for them as titans.

Such a long video, but Thunder Spear. Not going to complain about 27 minutes about one of my favourite AoT characters. Looking at this overview, it's impressive how far Reiner came. He was the weakest of the Warrior candidates, but was only second to Mikasa as a soldier and is an absolute master at using his Titan powers. I certainly hope that Reiner turns on Marley later in the story. It seems to be the most logical conclusion for his character arc to break from the brainwashing and fight for the liberation of the Eldians, even if I doubt Eren and the others will ever be able to forgive him (which they probably also shouldn't, since Reiner did commit his crimes). For me, Reiner is just one of the most complex characters in the series and one where I am very excited for future developments

Before Reiner told his family the "horrors" in paradise island, I found it very amusing that he smiled. It's as if h finds the memories of his old comrades funny or interesting.
So my theory on Reiner's mentality has always been a defense mechanism. Not particularly because he did terrible things, but because he's Marlayan and Elodian. The Elodian understands his role, what hes done, but the Marlayan never was meant to be a titan, and so its become a dam in his mind to protect him

17:40 unless your last titan transformtion was recent, you can always transform, even with all your legs cut off and half your head missing. As long as there is still life in your body, you can transform. The rule you're trying to aply to is when someone shifted recently and was heavily injured while in titan form. When you get forcefully cut out of the nape, with your limbs being cut off, you can only transform again once your body is finished with healing. If you leave the titan body willingly, you only need a few mins of rest to transform again. There have been many cases in which someone was fataly wounded and then transformed. Eren got his lungs pierced by a sharp piece of wood, reiner got his arm cut off and got his other arm split in half, bertholt got half his hand cut off and his throat got slit and later reiner got his head half cut off and his torso pierced. In all cases, they were able to transform since it was the first transformation that day.

I have a question, when you said Reiner was hoping Eren would be eaten, which would make it easier for the them to control whoever had eaten him, it made me think. How is it that the Titan that ate Eren at the battle for Trost, didn’t become the bearer of the attack and coordinate? No because in order to inherrit a titan shifter power the titan has to have eaten the juices in his spinal cord so if that titan would have choped eren in half when he bite down on him he would have gotten the attack titan power and the coridinate power but the titan just swallowed him whole witch was good for eren
(5:10) my best guess going of the anime mainly for Grisha's part of this and the manga for the others is that Grisha was supposedly thrown on the island to become a mindless titan and be tortured forever or whatever but instead he inherited the attack titan powers and therefore wounded up outside the walls when Sadies was there taken in and gave his power to his son, Eren. i think this is a pretty reasonable explanation mainly because i cant think of any holes in it.
Joshua Bowman I don't believe they can tell between humans and titan shifters. In the serum, it probably just enhances a titan's instinct to seek a shifter and blocks all other senses. Since only humans(eldians to be more specific) can transform, they seek to devour only humans

THUNDERSPEAR!!! Excellent video! l Just catch up with the manga and you explained and clarified things that werent that clear for me! I like Reiner since it's a very complex character, you hate him at first for being a traitor but later you come to understand him! after reading the chapter 101 on manga it seems to me that Eren and Reiner switch roles... Reiner is the victim/prey and Eren is the attacker/hunter... Such an interesting manga and character development! Can't wait to see what happen next!

I have a question, when you said Reiner was hoping Eren would be eaten, which would make it easier for the them to control whoever had eaten him, it made me think. How is it that the Titan that ate Eren at the battle for Trost, didn’t become the bearer of the attack and coordinate? It has been a while since I’ve watched the first season so maybe the answer is right in front of me but I was just curious. LOVE THE CHANNEL GUYS KEEP IT UP! Thank you.
No because in order to inherrit a titan shifter power the titan has to have eaten the juices in his spinal cord so if that titan would have choped eren in half when he bite down on him he would have gotten the attack titan power and the coridinate power but the titan just swallowed him whole witch was good for eren

Kid reiner's armored titan looks kinda buffed
(5:10) my best guess going of the anime mainly for Grisha's part of this and the manga for the others is that Grisha was supposedly thrown on the island to become a mindless titan and be tortured forever or whatever but instead he inherited the attack titan powers and therefore wounded up outside the walls when Sadies was there taken in and gave his power to his son, Eren. i think this is a pretty reasonable explanation mainly because i cant think of any holes in it.
He inherited the Attack Titan from Eren Kruger back in Marley.

Joshua Bowman I don't believe they can tell between humans and titan shifters. In the serum, it probably just enhances a titan's instinct to seek a shifter and blocks all other senses. Since only humans(eldians to be more specific) can transform, they seek to devour only humans
Joshua Bowman because they instinctively long to find titan shifters since it's the only way for them to turn into human form
Galliard got jaws from eatting ymir and the titans that arent titan shifters are mindless and titan shifters always have a special powers like armored titan has armor, colossal titan can emit steam
