As often, due to personal taste, the black and white shot works best for me. Thanks for taking us out there while the Old Growth is still available in some form. Imagine how many compositions there would have been had we been lucky enough to beat the early pioneers to the area.......... hey ho
I loved that 16:9 shot - definitely worked better without the stream. What a location Adam! Stunning video and great talk through of your thought process.
Nigel, just gotta say. you're the man for being that comment that doesn't like bait. even on photography videos there's people who will manipulate it. as a person who is also in the gaming community of other games and internet culture, comments like these are rarely looked up to unless looked up to by the right people. so good one you mate.
Your forest images are far from boring, Adam. It'll be a shame if those old trees get logged; please keep documenting them because you never know how long we'll have them.
Love the comment about having someone at the car or at least knowing where you are. Many of us are alone and many underestimate the trouble we could get into if something goes wrong. I carry a satellite transceiver wherever I go. Also, when watching you gingerly move about I'm reminded that when I'm in precarious situations, I really slow down and focus intently on everything I'm doing. I do this mostly to be safe, but it has the fringe benefit of approaching the photograph with a mind that's slowed down. I also use the GFX 100 and it's cool to see how you're using it. Such a wonderful but complex tool, you can use it & set it up a myriad of ways. Thanks!
OMG how could we ever get bored of the stunning forest images you produce. The forest is amazing and so glad your sharing as I would otherwise never get to see. I prefer the edited uncropped colour version.
Adam the first image is sick asf. I shoot loads of rainforest here I Australia and your are certainly a huge part of my inspiration when you do these videos.
It is maybe strange for all of you but sometimes I watch your videos while I am on my training treadmill. You just give the energy. I am proud that use the same camera as you. Our cameras are the same but our products are day and night difference. Love your works man keep it up
I liked the 16:9 format without the stream. Nice location and great job taking what a lot of us might think is chaos and turning it into something beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Love that you print your images and hang them to reflect.
I liked your original horizontal comp (minus flashing white under left center) and the vertical 4x5-ish shooting downstream - the rocks were still interesting due to the flo effect on the water having lightly glazed them. Nice stuff, thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
Another great outing; you live in such a beautiful part of the world. I like the big trees, I like the ferns, but those graceful hemlock branches reaching out make the scene for me.
The 16:9 crop was a stunner and I am not surprised it's a place for you to return again. The b-rolllltalking head piece at 13.:48, the scene itself is just magical, like something out of a film set - I was imaging a pano style crop just under the fallen tree on the left. Rain.. sounds like Wales :) HNY
Bored? Haha, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we could watch you vlog in the old growth forests every week! 😊 Really liked the black and white version too. Thanks for showing us this beautiful area, again.
I enjoy looking at the 16:9 photo, it really works here. The contrast, the light, and being able to see all the details is beautiful. I would love to shoot out there some day in old growth forest. But as a West Virginian I can’t complain. I really need to work on my woodland photos. Thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us, Adam. Keep at it, stay healthy.
Thanks for sharing your thought process in more detail on a single photograph. Not boring at all. It's pouring here in Vancouver WA for the next few days as well - talk of landslides in the gorge area where I was planning on shooting this week. Time to find alternates!
The whole world seems terrified of increasing ISO. I think this is a throwback to earlier times when digital cameras were still new and more primitive. Thanks for pointing out that it’s OK.
For such a busy comp, it absolutely works. Nice to see the b/w conversion. It's a good one. Pt. Renfrew is one fascinating place. Last there as a terminus after the West Coast Trail - singularly the craziest and borderline-nuts trail to do. Upon re-think? It's just nuts. Love the post, Adam.
I'm certainly not bored to tears by the location. In fact you've made photography on Vancouver Island a bucket list adventure for me, and for that you have my eternal thanks.
That opening scene is nice. The light and disorganization, soft feeling...Feels like a window into the forest. "Just past the stream there is a view that allows you to peer into the heart of the forest". Enough sappy... ☺️ good idea bringing Karen I've done the same with my partner. Enjoyed the video! Thanks, Adam!
Love it, Adam. Glad you revisited the spot under better conditions. I noticed you moving the ISO up to 400 on the first shot; with the gfx100 I've found that it's better to jump to ISO 800 if I'm moving it up to 400 anyways - ISO 800 is the second gain step on the sensor, I believe.
Another beautiful video, always a pleasure to see your work. Also good to know you do make prints. It's not a photograph until it's a print, per Kevin Raber!
Thank you for drawing attention to these magnificent old growth forests! You (and we virtually) are so fortunate to experience this... though hopefully generations later can as well! 🙏 🌎 🌲 🌳
Nice compositions. As a Desert dweller, I can really appreciate the riot of colors, shapes, and textures. Would be nice to shoot one day. Oh, congrats on getting the EVF.
Very informative explanation of exposure composition... I learnt today something which I been confused myself everytime when I tried to visualise how to expose perfectly along with object.... Thank you so much
I like the original cropped version from the camera. Also I listened to this video with headphones on. The background music is awesome. Thanks for the little touches you add to your vlogs. Your one of the best on youtube.
Thanks Adam...it’s a pleasure to witness you in action with your well articulated thought processes. It is also great that you photograph close to home.👍👏👏👏
I can see why you’d want to keep coming back to this lovely forest, and the 16x9 image was my favorite in this series! I really appreciate how you walk us through the entire process from composition through processing, Adam, and I always look forward to your videos!
Like most of your other comments, I am not bored at all. These kind of video are my favorite. I learn a lot. Next time I am on Vancouver Island I would love to hike miles down that creek ! Wanna go so badly !
When Adam and Gavin post videos on the same day, it puts me in a quandary! Adam or Gavin, Gavin or Adam? The pressure is terrible! Watched this one first.......Love both you guys! Thanks for another entertaining video Adam, and don't tell Gavin I watched your video first! I see the EVF. Glad you got it. I also prefer to compose better through a finder.
I’ll get to your neck of the woods eventually but living here in Washington I’ve got ferns growing wild in my backyard so I’ve shot my share of them. The nice thing about photography though...and evidenced in your video...is how often there isn’t necessarily a right way to crop a photo regardless of conventional wisdom. I thought that the blurred “waterfall” leant a bit of calmness to an otherwise busy, albeit gorgeous, photograph. Keep up the good work.
I agree with the trees Adam, they are great. But i don’t now if the photo works whitout the ferns. To me they make the image complete. Great to see the comp on the backscreen. Thnx for talking through the compositions.
Great shots Adam! I really like the crop at the end with all of the trees cascading through the scene. This one looks so good in the natural forest greens and browns that I think I still prefer the color version over the B&W.
I took interest in the Geared Head when you mentioned it. I seen a local individual on the "World Wide Interweb" had a Benro Geared Head and sense I have a Benro Tripod Why Not. I got Out on the Eagle Creek Trail in Oregon today and that Geared head is a Game Changer, I was so happy to be able to focus on my comp more with ease. Took my Gear all the way out to Tunnel Falls 🤘
Thought that was pretty interesting as it's easy to get good results from epic locations, but I found this really informative. There are plenty of options for photographers to access woodland and streams and these ideas were definitely food for thought. 😊👍
I liked the second photo better than the first for some reason. I wondered if the lower half of the first was necessary and if the real interest began with the first fallen tree leading to the second one behind.
Adam, thank you for sharing and particularly your process. It really is cool to see how you photograph, love how you show them pre( Raw) and them processed. Way better than Some of the other photographers blogs that are a bunch of ramblings. So for that Thank you and your participation with Gavin. You guys are great together.
I really appreciate your detailed talk through of the composition, the 16:9 crop worked great for that scene. Always look forward to a new Adam Gibbs video 🙂
What a spot, you could spend a month there and come away with a different shot each time. Beautiful images. So surreal watching you on Fototripper and then switching over to your own channel, such a change of pace!
I'm never bored with your videos. I really appreciate your pointing out the small details when you are working on your composition. It helps me remember those small things when I'm out shooting. Thanks!
Thanks Adam for the video and taking us a long on your 100 MP journey and even a print in the end of the video. Could be nice to hear your experience printing the Fuji files. Nice video and thanks for you effort. I do not know if it just me but a lot of times when you complain of your composition options I find your video compositions views of the same view so nice. So maybe consider your video composition view as photographs as well even though it is different aspect ratio. Any way thanks for your effort making all this videos it is nice to follow your work ;-)
Really enjoyed the back of camera tutorial on this one. Great to see the thought process and the technical aspects together. Definitely not bored to tears!
I am dying to visit Vancouver Island. For the past two years, I have been visiting my daughter on Whidbey Island. I want to take the Ferry from Anacortes to Vancouver Island and spend a week stealing your compositions. :-) Covid just keeps getting in the way.
Hello Adam, I enjoyed watching your video and have learned a few things that will help me with my photography. I know my camera. I know how to develop my photographs and I understand some basic concepts of composition. Great explanation on your approach. I was wondering what is the size of the print at the end of the video.
Adam, these images are really stunning. I was not at all distracted by the stream. I love the raw shot as well as the colored cropped images. The first cropped image in which you darkened the sides to draw the eye to the center is very beautiful. The 16:9 format of that composition is such a gorgeous perspective, wow! You are correct that the raw file didn’t need much processing, the colors are amazing. Thanks for telling us where you focused. I was wondering how to capture that shot with everything in detail, very interesting video.
As often, due to personal taste, the black and white shot works best for me. Thanks for taking us out there while the Old Growth is still available in some form. Imagine how many compositions there would have been had we been lucky enough to beat the early pioneers to the area.......... hey ho
Can't wait to get in there with ya.
My favorite landscape photographer, because he doesn't talk a load of old bollocks.
I loved that 16:9 shot - definitely worked better without the stream. What a location Adam! Stunning video and great talk through of your thought process.

"Slated to be logged." Man, my heart weeps. No amount of replanting will ever replace that forest.
I'd like to thank Squarespace too for sponsoring your work !!!
OMG how could we ever get bored of the stunning forest images you produce. The forest is amazing and so glad your sharing as I would otherwise never get to see. I prefer the edited uncropped colour version.

Your final image in the creek came out quite nice after you lightened the center and brought the edges down
Definitely not bored the forest is amazing I could stay there all day. Amazing photos
I liked your original horizontal comp (minus flashing white under left center) and the vertical 4x5-ish shooting downstream - the rocks were still interesting due to the flo effect on the water having lightly glazed them. Nice stuff, thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
My type of area, dark mossy forest, little creek, big trees. I don’t find it boring at all.
Another great outing; you live in such a beautiful part of the world. I like the big trees, I like the ferns, but those graceful hemlock branches reaching out make the scene for me.

I’m from the Midwest in the U.S. The lushness of the forest in your location is incredible. I like how you walk through your compositions.
Bored? Haha, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we could watch you vlog in the old growth forests every week! 😊
Really liked the black and white version too.
Thanks for showing us this beautiful area, again.

Adam, your edited versions of the first forest scene are phenomenal. Enjoy your commentary on arriving at a great image. Well done.
I really like the 16 x 9 crop. My favorite feature is that fallen log stretched across the front.
With your passion for trees and streams I would love to see you photograph the eastern U.S.
Wow, that first shot was really alright. Your patience aways pay off. I might try doing a VLOG one day. Tell you the truth I scared as hell. Peace!!!
I just love that first RAW file image, absolutely gorgeous scene! In a place like that, I could sit and observe for hours and be at peace.
Exactly What i was going to say.
I love watching your videos after a long day at the office, it is a balm to spreadsheet weary eyes!
Love the forest images and watching you work through it. Thanks!
For me, your focus on the forest helps me appreciate the complex scene that I would have just passed up for a more simple composition.
Such a beautiful area mate, so lush.
Awesome location and video - I would take your shot and a super-wide large file shot that I could crop later
Beautiful location, the 16x9 was stunning. Sad to hear that area is slated for logging.
Thanks to Karen that she is so patient so you can provide us with that beautiful photos...
that place is surreal. In the opening it seriously looks like you are standing in front of a green screen
Another beautiful video, always a pleasure to see your work. Also good to know you do make prints. It's not a photograph until it's a print, per Kevin Raber!

Love the Color Image 16x9 crop! @11:40
Wow what a beautiful place to be able to visit and photograph. Lovely images. Thanks
Found your channel because of Mr Heaton and I’m glad I did. Your thought process and detail of the scene was fantastic.
Not bored at all, its fascinating to see how you work the same scenes, extracting different masterpieces. The image at 17:40 is my favorite!
Thanks Adam...it’s a pleasure to witness you in action with your well articulated thought processes. It is also great that you photograph close to home.👍👏👏👏
Really beautiful images Adam! Your videos make me miss Vancouver Island so much 😫
Fine video. You take such a thoughtful and sensible approach to crafting a composition. The print looked superb
I can see why you’d want to keep coming back to this lovely forest, and the 16x9 image was my favorite in this series! I really appreciate how you walk us through the entire process from composition through processing, Adam, and I always look forward to your videos!

The print at the end shows the beauty of the shot.

It must feel like the last time every time you go there Adam. It's going to be sad to see those old trees go.
I'm from the west coast. You're making me miss the coastal forest!
Thanks for posting. Enjoyed this very much.
Your subjects are never boring Adam! Your explanations/thought process as you consider a composition are amazingly helpful!
Again a great video Adam! Always nice to see your toughts about composition!
Thanks for the video. The detail of explanation of your compositions was very educational and much appreciated!
Thank you for walking us through your process Adam. It's very informative. How disappointing to think of losing such beauty to logging.
great pictures. My pick of the great bunch is the 16 by 9 picture. Not so keen on the b&w one.
A thoughtfully put together video, which I greatly enjoyed, thank you!
I agree with the trees Adam, they are great. But i don’t now if the photo works whitout the ferns. To me they make the image complete. Great to see the comp on the backscreen. Thnx for talking through the compositions.

And yet another great one in the books. Thanks!
Wonderfull old growth scene,(the one you printed) One of your best, if you ask me. Cheers!
Very interesting video ! Keep it on!
Hey, you got the viewfinder now. Great job on the video and pictures.
I took interest in the Geared Head when you mentioned it. I seen a local individual on the "World Wide Interweb" had a Benro Geared Head and sense I have a Benro Tripod Why Not. Yes, Adam take us back to this area!
Great watching you working woodland compositions.
another great video and lovely shots , nicely done ,
Thought that was pretty interesting as it's easy to get good results from epic locations, but I found this really informative. There are plenty of options for photographers to access woodland and streams and these ideas were definitely food for thought. 😊👍
Love rainforests. Be such a shame to log it. I’d be there hugging the trees. Never get bored of your quiet light locations. I liked the 16:9 shot.
Would like to make a lot of phorographs in this forest. Beautiful !!
Glad to see you now have your viewfinder...
Fantastic Video Mr. Gibbs!
I just got a geared head for my large format camera. HUGE difference adjusting the composition.
Beautiful photos!!! Do you ever use focus bracketing for woodland photos?
The log in back of you in the intro, with the draping plants, is just exquisite.
Most enjoyable and informative video, Adam. Personally, I much prefer your serious videos over the rather crass videos you share in with Gavin.
How can someone possibly dislike that video?! Amazing as always.
You nailed it in the field with the composition in a 16x9. That was lovely, Adam.
I'm never bored with your videos. I really appreciate your pointing out the small details when you are working on your composition. It helps me remember those small things when I'm out shooting. Thanks!

Love your videos and pictures Adam.
I won't ever get bored of vlogs from those amazing old growth forests! Love the images. Nice to see some green! Cheers Adam!
Some more epic pictures Adam.
Bloody hell. My forests are always flat...
