I was very lucky to be able to constantly listen to TheWav 94.7 in Los Angeles when Patrick O'Hearn was at his heighth ; I also include Themusicofexchange. Thx for your music that I enjoy from my personal collection library even in 2024
Listening to old cassettes that I would record music off my then local station KKSF, I have at least three with “Irene” in the space saying what was on the tape. LOVED it!! Taking them with me on my move from CA to NC! Never knew about weather channel music?
You're right! This and Downhill racer were both on TWC. I used to look up music I heard on there. That, the Rippingtons (Weekend in Monaco), Broad Street by George Howard took me 15 years to track down...all from 1991-1993. They don't make them like they used to.
*@bp996959* Thank You for broadcasting this song on RUclips. I haven't heard Patrick O'Hearne's music- - & specifically _Irene- -_ literally since 1995. This was shortly before 107.5 KOAI-FM Dallas-Ft Worth ("107.5 the Oasis") was overtaken by a rap station. They were primarily "Smooth Jazz," but mixed in a little New Age, All-Electronic, & a variety of other Synth-strumental music I have no piano or synthesist ability. But as an electric bassist, guitarist, & drummer I greatly appreciate the work of Patrick O'Hearne. In fact, I was never able to identify him as the author-performer of this music, because KOAI practically never identified him or any other New Age artists that they played. . . Nevertheless I must say he takes his place among the very best synthesists in modern music: Gershon Kingsley _(Popcorn;_ very first Synthpop/ Synth-strumental song of all, 1969) Jean-Michel Jarre _(Oxygene,_ 1974) Vangelis _(Chariots of Fire & Blade Runner,_ 1981 & '82) Harold Faltermeyer _(Beverly Hills Cop,_ 1984) Paul Hardcastle _(Rainforest,_ 1985) Yanni (too much to name!) 🎼 🎹 💜❤
So Beautiful. I play it at least 10 times throughout my day. Good Bye to Hip Hop, Hello to In the Heart Music. I love just about everyone of your pieces. Thanks Patrick you are a Genius.
Yes when I heard this on the weather channel Iinstantly knew it was pat and his distinctive sound and knew he had something new and I bought it right away around 93 or 94 I have all his works.GO PAT !!
this has weather star 4000 all over it...I remember when the weather channel was just setting up, and seeing Bob Hope talk about Hurricane Hugo...memories
Also, O'Hearn helped Dan Siegel on his early album "Another Time, Another Place". The self-titled track and "A Sentimental Journey" are two tracks from that album that are heavy O'Hearn influences.

Hi, I love this music and also have a wide background into ambient, new age, and many other genres. I recommend also David Helpling, Jon Jenkins, Jeff Pearce, Helios, Art Sebastian, Jillian Goldin, Christophe Lebled. And that's it for now. Truly beautiful music, this is what life is made of :)
i'm not sure if it was on the TWC. I know it was on my car CD player when i made many a trip from Eastern Maryland to my home in Western PA; great music to just drive and think..
Patrick O'Hearn helped produce Colin Chin's "Intruding On A Silence" on Narada Records - around 1989 I think. You will find similar sound in that album, including some Mark Isham trumpet.
Almost seems as if O'Hearn made this track just for TWC...at around the 2:55 mark, at about the time a 3-minute Local Forecast was ending, the song sounds like it's over.
I think the should go back to playing his music and some of the older songs on The Weather Channel Local on the 8's,this current music is not that good.

This was my "flying music" for years. It is especially nice with the bright sun...looking down at the world below. Best "music video" ever.
Watching the Weather Channel in the 90s brought me here. This song stays with you through the years.

maximum listening enjoyment achieved with a good subwoofer

An incredible instrumental, never forget hearing it on TWC. Never thought I'd find it again.
The internet really does allow to find anything. I still remember finding out about this tune in 1998.
Helps me by Listening To this Song after a stressful day.

To think O’Hearn went from playing with Frank Zappa and Missing Persons to doing this... That is amazing.
Very soothing and wonderful! Thank you!
Sounds like “Drive” by the cars.
I feel like it would be in my recommendations otherwise
*SO haunting...*
This is my all time favorite. Beautiful World is also amazing (all of it)

your soo welcome; i agree O'Hearn's music is some of the best! Enjoy..
Who is the woman in the picture ?
This is a great song form one of his greatest hits album's - a song I never grow tired of...
They should play this song on The Weather Channel today due to the hurricane by the same name!
i'm not sure if it was on the TWC. I know it was on my car CD player when i made many a trip from Eastern Maryland to my home in Western PA; great music to just drive and think..
It was....trust me....they were playing it when Hurricane Irene struck the Carolinas....

would be great to see him perform live but I've never heard him ever doing any shows.
love it
Wonder if TWC is going to play Irene in the advance of Sandy. Spook all the residents, bring back some bad memories from Irene last year....
exactly what i thought. Drive The Cars/Benjamin Orr. Who had their song out first?
Cars-84 and O'Hearn 92
i don't think he has toured on his own but i agree would also lv to see him perform- the smaller the venue the better!!
killer piece from a killer mind. manila nights!
Real music ,not that trash is play today
this is also on the muzac list for food lion plubix and others
I think the should go back to playing his music and some of the older songs on The Weather Channel Local on the 8's,this current music is not that good.
@bp996959 And the fact that you heard it playing in Food Lion is indeed surprising.
