It’s more fair than you’d think. As an autistic person, it can be very hard to stand up for yourself. My opinion on all this is that chuggaa just needs to learn how to not cross boundaries and, if he does, to recognize it and stop / apologize. Doesn’t deserve cancellation, just some guidance.
EDIT: No judgment, I struggle with boundaries myself.

It is kind of crazy to me that many people jumped on others defending Chuggaaconroy, saying things like "You don't know him! Stop assuming he's this good person!" Which to be fair is true, we don't know him. We are only outsiders looking in....But everyone took Masae's word as gospel. No one had the "you don't know them, don't believe them to be the good person they perpetuate!" argument when she dropped her receiptless , proof-less response. No one dared call into question her claims, everyone just trusted her deeply.....When the same logic applied.
I'm not saying Chugga is 100% innocent, nor am I saying that Masae's claims about him making her uncomfortable were 100% invalid....But there is a bit of a discrepancy here, as everyone took Masae's side without batting an eye, but turned on people standing up for Chugga, as they were just "blind para-social fans".
Then, it was proved Masae left out critical context, and it made Chugga look way worse while the internet was already piling on him, all in a controversy that didn't even involve her to begin with. Truly vile behavior on her part if you ask me.

It’s because MasaeAnela has been so closely intertwined with Chuggaaconroy that his own fans were put on edge about her accusations against him. Yes it was a knee-jerk reaction but so what? She also just clearly had a bad breakup and wanted to dispel any rumours they were an item - not necessarily stabbing him in the back.

    • @DoctorMinjinx
      @DoctorMinjinx 2 месяца назад +36

@@LinkMarioSamus But she completely stabbed him in the back by adding fuel to the fire that wasn’t needed, in a controversy that didn’t concern her. Everyone was already turning on him, and she made his situation far worse, despite NONE of this concerning her.
Chugga had to explain the situation in his response along with the critical detail she decided to omit because her words held that much weight and so many people turned on him even more because of it.
Drawing a line in the sand and making a statement was fair because of the over-lap within her and Chugaa’s fans, but she completely stabbed Emile in the back by dogpiling on him, and making herself completely untrustworthy imo by leaving out important context.

    • @LinkMarioSamus

But she made him look far worse when she left out important context, especially because everyone took Masae’s word without proof.

I sat by and watched girl after girl pull the same shit Emily did, being 2 faced and "nice" to his face, but spinning mad shit behind his back and outing him for laughs until he finally got up the courage to tell me he was tired of waiting for me to make the first move (so he finally did LOL). The most shocking part to me of this whole saga was the reveal that Emile and masae were engaged. You need to understand that this was a rumor in their communities for decades. You can find old videos of people asking them about it at convention panels, but they would never address it directly. There was so much speculation and so little evidence to say definitely whether or not they were together. I have a lot of thoughts about this video. For the record, I am a trans woman and maybe my political leanings could be described as libertarian socialist, but at least on social issues, I am very left leaning. And I just want to thank you for rightfully calling out the bad behavior of Lady Emily - I don't condone using one's status as being trans as a shield from justified anger over one's own bad behavior - this kind of thing legitimately makes it harder for the rest of us to be treated like human beings. I followed this story very closely the first couple of months, having been a viewer of Chugga's for over a decade (and even narrowly missing the chance to actually work with him professionally in 2010 - we've never met, but he worked as a guest for the final time with a group I became part of only a few months before I joined up), but admittedly, I stopped following it when Chugga finally made his post-absence statement and confirmed essentially everything I had already sussed out.
I read the *entire* Lawly log (I seriously don't recommend any one do that btw, it was dreadfully dull and cringe and extremely long and 99% of it was wholly irrelevant to any of the claims) and my thoughts on that are simple. Chugga said inappropriate things to a minor. There's no defending that. But he didn't actually engage in any pedophilia or grooming and even had his "aha moment" and cut it off. He went on to, as far as we all know, NOT display a pattern of this behavior, he condemns his past actions, and also it was almost 15 years ago AND he was a dumb barely legal teenager who is also autistic and not susceptible to common social cues (a common theme throughout the whole tale). On its own there's plenty to get outraged at him over but when you take all of the context together as a whole, its fair to say he was a dumb kid who did things he now recognizes were not okay and he deserves the second chance. After I read the whole text dump, it truly just felt like this was not only wholly irrelevant to what was going on, but also just trying to destroy a man who is already under fire, however possible. For the record, I think the later revelation that Lawly was *trying* to lure someone into statutory rape with her is disgusting and she definitely needed help that she apparently didn't receive, but she was still the child in the situation and it is up to the adult in the situation to shut that down - and to Chugga's credit, he at least didn't take the bait and did eventually shut it down. As for the years later conversation when they were both adults, "shall we pick things up where we left off" when engaging in explicitly sexual roleplay is damning wording, but also misrepresentative of what actually happened years earlier. I think holding that aginst him is a stretch.
As for Masae, I think she would have stayed quiet throughout all of this, but she got bombarded by Chugga's fans asking her about it, and to that extent, I can understand it, but also this is the natural consequence of having a *very close* public friendship that is hiding a private relationship that ended in a bad breakup. For the most part, nobody knew they weren't friends anymore. That said, prior to the full context being given, her saying that he made her uncomfortable and found his apologies to be hollow carried a different weight that gave more credence to Lady Emily's story. But the full context tells a different story. Technically I don't believe she lied, and I'm not even willing to speculate that she told what she told with deceptive intent beyond wanting to keep their past relationship hidden still - but it's all there - the pushing of boundaries clearly refers to how he would publicly flirt with her when she wanted to keep their relationship private, which can also act as part of why she is uncomfortable around him but also they had a bad breakup which would make anyone uncomfortable to be around their ex. And the bad breakup also makes sense why her current partner would have just as much contempt for him, especially if he attempted to foster a friendship one-sidedly while just being his oblivious autistic self and not taking the hint that she wasn't having it. Its not a great outcome, but with everything out in the open, at least to my knowledge, thats the end of the discussion for Masae.
As for Antdude and MissFushi, I think Tim exolained it pretty succintly. It was a lot of misunderstandings that got out of hand. Unfortunate, but it happens, especially with Chugga being his typical oblivious self and not picking up on social cues because he is autistic. From their perspective, it does honestly look like way too many coincidences to truly be coincidences. I have to imagine that they, like Masae, were likely bombarded by Chugga fans for any insight and didnt want to talk about him, but said something to get people off their back.
That just leaves Lady Emily. Now, my default position is to at least take someone claiming to be a victim seriously until proof to contrary surfaces, regardless who is who in the situation. Even before Chugga's post-absence explanation of everything, I had already accurately sussed out what happened, as I said earlier. The only thing I didnt sus out was her explicit consent to the foot fetish RP. But the rest of it I had figured out - that it was fairly innocent, she felt uncomfortable and didnt set proper boundaries, then ghosted him, and he, once again, was oblivious to the social cues because he is autistic, and kept checking in on her, because he was genuinely concerned about her. They had never met, so I dont know why she was so fearful to just set boundaries, but also after Chugga made his big response, as a fellow trans woman, I was ready to sympathize with why she might have done that - the disproprotionate amount of sexual violence and hatred that we trans women face definitely makes a lot of us a bit jumpy. Which isnt to say her fears weren't real, just unfounded. What I didnt know about was how she just continued to dig her heels in after everything was brought to light. Like, girl, just admit you were scared and handled it poorly and move on! I think it was cruel and hypocritical for her to simultaneously hide behind being transgender and autistic to deflect criticism while also encouraging people not to let Chugga use the autism defense, (another point of respect for man - he didn't and assumed full responsibility for his actions instead) when it is *abundantly* clear that Chugga being autistic and oblivious lies at the very heart of all of this. I don't really want to comment on any of the other drama about her that unfolded that didn't actually have anything to do with Chugga, especially since I stopped following this when that stuff came out. I think this is a sad situation of a friendship being ruined by poor communication and obliviousness to social cues, one that went farther south than it needed to. In the end, Chugga was guilty of being cringe and autistic and over sharing about his fetish - none of which is either illegal or cancelworthy.
As for ProtonJon, I can't expect you to find every little detail, considering how much research you DID do, but it is worth noting that he distanced himself from Chugga at Chugga's own urging. And he got pestered about it so much at his streams that he did eventually say on a stream that nothing he said about the situation or about Emile was posted without Emile's express consent. I don't think it's fair to put so much fault on him in light of that.
And if you read this far, just a small personal bit of criticism for you. First of all, thank you for respecting Lady Emily's gender throughout the video. Even if she is not a good person, it's not right to dehumanize her, as many people probably would. However, I thought the joke about tucking, while I don't think you meant any harm with it, was inappropriate and I would encourage you to consider jokes about trans people and their genitals as being not cool in the future.

    • @princessCashel
      @princessCashel 4 дня назад +2

As a fellow trans girl, I completely agree with you. I hate it when people use being trans as an excuse to be horrible or as an excuse to get special treatment. I feel like it just makes it that much harder for trans people to be seen as equal. I honestly don't even understand how Emily being trans has anything to do with the situation. I'm trans, but I don't want people to treat me like I'm the Queen of England, I just want people to treat me like a normal person. Sorry, it just really upsets me when people use being trans as a shield.

I've always been the kind of person who doesn't have to agree, like, or support everything my friend does to be their friend... Because my friendship would have been based on things we do agree on or have in common.
This idea that "you made a few bad choices, so you're dead to me forever" just doesn't ring of a "true friend". If anything, I'd feel like I would want to stick by my friend more the worse things are.

@@MissRora I agree, but, as Dev rightfully pointed out, the "friend" group is less of an actual friend group and more of a cult. This entire affair has lowered my opinion of Protonjon and Lucahjin and everyone else for that matter.
I loved the Runaway Guys and I tended to support Jon when they gamed. They introduced me to Boon Street (which I love, and my friends and I have spent hours playing) and I sometimes put some of their LPs on as white noise while I'm doing things.
Chugga is also responsible for one of my favourite LPs of all time - his, frankly, legendary LP of Pokemon Crystal. But, I've drifted away from these people mostly because of their increasing political stuff and some of their apologetics for companies (Emile defeating Pokemon Sword and Sheild). But I also had to remember that these guys are normies and are running businesses. They have brands, not principles. Again, it's one of the reasons I drifted away from them.
That said, when I heard the deal with Emile, I decided to look into it and was totally shocked by how much of a non-issue it was. It was pure fake drama and it confirmed to me that people have gotten weak and far too thin-skinned to be on the internet. It also made me realise how much I miss the old internet-considering I've been lurking on here since 99-back in the days of every fansite being GeoCities and blinding backgrounds and the Steak and Cheese with its shock images.
When this all kicked off, I was very disappointed by ProtonathanJonathan's response, which lowered my opinion of him. It’s still very jarring that all of this went down in January. I wanted to hold my breath until I heard more information when they began, waited until the first wave of allegations and responses concluded, and then when Masae added fuel to the fire it all went downhill. Before Emile made his google doc, I was disappointed that this massive group of “friends” acted as fast as they did since they all seemed like a family yet I only heard NCS as the only one keeping track of Emile’s wellbeing. The entire drama just completely shattered what appeared to be a welcoming community and the real victim, Emile, ended up being the one ostracized by his close friends. I don’t wish for any retribution, karma, or ultimate downfall for the people who threw him under the bus, however I doubt I’ll be as sympathetic if anything happens to any of them given their community can be close minded and can act without hearing the full story.

Not just me, he did that for EVERYONE who subscribed back then. I'll always remember that. That was the first and only time a content creator I liked went out of their way to thank stupid, annoying, 12 year old me. He didn't have to. No one had to. So for those who are viewing the video now and didn’t catch it on release:
Dev cut about… 20-25ish minutes of content, citing the jokes being an issue (I didn’t really register the jokes as being offensive). The biggest cut was Lady Emily’s dedicated section of the video, which will probably be for a “Dissecting a Degenerate” type of video in the future. It was very enlightening to see her history out to bare in the video (even with the tweets already against her and basically the receipts of her being manipulative and using her autism and being trans as a shield).
Edit: to slightly clarify what exactly was cut from the history portion, let’s just say that Lady Emily’s actions aren’t just a one-off fluke.
On a different note, the only ones I ever really watched of that bunch was AntDude. He was very dry, kid-safe, but did have a passion for the games he played on whatever Nintendo related console, especially Sonic and Sonic Rom Hacks (where I got into his channel). I fell off the bandwagon because… well it just didn’t click with me anymore, and seeing him do this is one of those things that’s just completely disappointing to see.
Either way, I really like the content of the video Dev! Keep up the good work!

I've said this before, but I might as well say it again:
Chugga is such an awkward goofy guy in all of his public appearances, that the fact that we see that *this* is how he chats up girls honestly feels all *too* appropriate. It only makes me feel like my original picture of him was even more true than I hoped.
In all seriousness, now that I know more of the story, I think that taking the Lawly story seriously as an evil act is almost as dumb as with Emily. 16 is legal in most of the US as well as most of the civilized world on the whole. People only think of 18 because that's what it is in Hollywood. Yes, obviously 15 < 16, but 1) the only overtly sexual thing he said was before he knew her age or even saw what she looked like, 2) he was only a few years older, still a "post-minor" if you care about that concept, 3) they never met in person until many years later and 4) I think there is significance in the fact that it was a distant (though still very cringe) time to be on the internet. Really, the most shocking thing in those messages is evidence that Emile, who was so often ribbed by Jon for his innocence, knew of term "loli" as far back as 2010 or so.
Oh, and while I never quite knew what to make of it, I was one of the fans who would be shocked if Chugga and Masae *were not* dating. Very sad how it all went down. The guy didn't deserve it. I'll grant some wrongdoing on his part, but I don't have any time for anyone still treating him like a villain at this point.

Most US states have some age of consent exceptions for near-age people, to avoid nonsense scenarios like a 16 year old dating a 17 year old suddenly turning illegal a year later.
That's not really relevant here though. Like you said, the most extreme stuff he said was before he knew anything about the person, wasn't that bad, and he stayed well away from crossing lines. The thought of that happening to me makes me want to cry. People who initiate and participate in cancellations are actually evil, they're all working to make the world a cold and lonely place for no benefit beyond satisfying their own spite. They don't have a single drop of empathy in their body, and them having any power over others will force us into a low-trust society.
Future generations who'll be even more tied to the internet than us are going to be emotionally skull fucked if we don't put a stop to this morally repulsive behavior. Sociopathic societies who just want to farm each other for clout are miserable societies. If you want proof of that, just look at how miserable progressives are. Those circles breed depression and anxiety disorders. How could they not when they have infinitely increasing standards, no path to redemption, reward sociopathy, and personally hate anyone who doesn't conform perfectly? The only logical conclusion to this is that everyone is a snake who doesn't care about each other.

Built for, built by, and maintained by the very same "evil" 1% they scream about, in order to keep them distracted by bread and circuses, forever locked into their endless cycle of (un)civil wars without end.

I don’t know if you're a Smosh person, but Chugga and Masae keeping their relationship a secret is a similar thing to what happened recently with Shayne Topp and Courtney Miller. The difference is, them keeping their relationship a secret seemed mutual, and they actually revealed it together on April Fool's just to fuck with people (it was real, they're just assholes 🤣).
Every fan who knew about Shayne and Courtney either were shipping them, or knew about the shipping. They even used moments they were on screen together to prove it was real. They stopped doing it after a while (people realized it was weird to do), but this Chugga and Masae situation is pretty much that situation, but smaller and with a bad ending. 😭

So, when I first heard about the whole thing, I wanted to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I heard there was stuff going on with Lady Emily, but I didn't come into drama until the Masae revelations dropped. And her revelations I found to be important because she had a very close relationship with TRG, and so she would have some very close knowledge as to whether the allegations had any merit.
So people were cautious and trending a bit against Chugga, but then the Lawly documents dropped, and I think that's when most of the audible Internet turned against him.
But it was weird. I actually took the time to read through the logs, and I came to a very similar conclusion. Yes, Chugga should have shut it down long before it got to this point, but the majority of the raunchy stuff came from Lawly. Although Chugga has the responsibility, Lawly is far from innocent just in her own document. As you pointed out, the documents are from the 2010s, which had a very different sense of humour and edginess.
It was after reading her document that I started to feel very odd about the whole situation. How come no one else could see what I thought was plainly obvious? It was cringe ERP that shouldn't have taken place but was emblematic of the edgy side of the 2010-era internet. Not great but nothing to cancel anyone over.
It was in that time that Byrne and TheAstralAlchemist started to collaborate with Tim (NCS) about the whole situation. From that point on, it was watching for the Chugga document that would inevitably drop. And when it did drop, it was like the proverbial scales from most peoples' eyes, and they could see what was patently obvious with most of the allegations. These were issues that should have been handled (and quite honestly were handled) privately.
The biggest bomb shell, that Chugga and Masae were engaged, completely flipped her allegations on their head. So it was very, very interesting to see many vocal parts of RUclips flip the script and even apologize for jumping to conclusions. I was quite happy to see that the broader opinion changed in favour of Chugga.

I hope Emily never experiences the horrors that is sexual violence.
I went through 5 years of SH and felt this whole situation especially with Emily was harmful to survivors and victims. The fact she was given the OPTION to opt out. What I would've done to get the option to say no and that would've been it. Supporting Emily I feel is a fuck you to survivors. That this kind of violence has been dwindled to "This man unintentionally made me uncomfortable. Lock him up."
