I have a Sony MZR-30 I bought in 1996,the Lip-12 battery at the time was £64.99,but it was with the player for £299.99,there are clone batteries on the market for £18-20,but the original battery didn’t last long after a few charges it was dead,it’s a good video for replacing the cell inside, but a bit fiddly for some people,I tried it and made a mess so bought a clone,it works but it’s not a lithium ion,it’s ni-cd so doesn’t hold charge well if not used for a while,it’s very hard to get an original Sony lip-12,but great if you can and it charges, great video by the way.actually I’ve just looked at the clone battery and it is 3.7v lithium ion,so that’s good.
Hi, I'm surprised by the price of the lithium batterypack back in the day. I agree, this is not for everyone, but it's doable. I don't have a 3D printer yet, but it'll be way more practical to print a support for a li-ion cell to put directly in the player. Just have to find a solution for overdischarge and you can change cells on the fly.(and charge them outside the player) Anyway. Have a good one.
Yes expensive battery in it’s day, that price was from the Sony Centre in Leicester, expensive for what they are,but we pay a premium for Sony don’t we,thanks, and you,👍

Hello friend from Sweden. For charging it's usually 3 or 6v basic cylindrical barrel plug, you can find them readily on ebay. And also the minidiscs. For recording you can use either 3.5mm jack line in or optical cable. You can also use pc or mac to run software to transfer data via usb, though I have never used it on mac. Greetings from France.
Good video. It's always the same telling yourself not to cut yourself then you go cut yourself. I'll open my one up and change out the battery. Thanks for the tutorial. Much appreciated 👍
It happens. I trusted the small blade too much. Good on your repair.. does yours charge via the walkman? Mine doesn't but I haven't touched it in a while. There are some charging settings in the test mode maybe it'll help.
Well-done! I did it a more "primitive" way (didn't have access to any welding tools)
Yeah I've seen your video. You have done a better job.
It doesn't matter really the nickel strip is small and heat transfer to the battery is minimal.
Good video my friend 👍, pitty about the the cut though.
Forgot about it already :)

Здравейте!С какви размери е батерията?Какви са и характеристиките?
It's an 18650 lithium-ion cell, the replacement one is about 2600 mAh.
