    Thanks for the review. I have a similar shelving unit I will use to store a few engines and transmissions for projects to keep them up off the floor and out of the way until I'm ready for them, so I'm cruising reviews to make sure they're not "too good to be true" before I put them to work.

    got the same setup. I was wondering if I needed to add boards across the bottom because I attached wheels directly to the bottom of the feet and they seem like they are waning to fold over. thought connecting the two feet on each to each other would stop that.

    This is exactly what I was looking to do. How are the caster wheels holding up? Where did you buy them from ?

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  Год назад +2

      They are holding up great. They are from Home Depot. 4” with 250 lb capacity. I think they’re Everbuilt. They have snap on or snap lock ones with higher capacity in a 4” but not with a stem.

      I can’t find them on Home Depot with the threaded stem and the 4 holes for the screws. It’s either one or the other. Can you drop a link for the you found

      I can't either but check these out maybe (this is a commissioned affiliate link so...) amzn.to/3OiG1fx anyway they have a higher capacity (2200 per four casters), a good rating, ship free direct from Amazon with prime, and if I'm not mistaken you get 4 for $30 ish when I paid almost that per caster.
      All that said I have a bunch of wire racks and think I would have been better off getting a 24x5x72"tall wire rack from Seville or Trinity. Those handle like 4-6k lbs so if you're going with wheels why get a 10k rack/ Plus the Trinity, Seville etc sit lower and have screw holes for the wheels. Anyway I'm looking into more of those and will post reviews soon.
      Just saying because I just moved the rack in this vid to another house and with the wheels it was too tall to get out of the garage.😅

    how would you increase the capacity ? more caster wheels ? additional once in the center ?

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  3 месяца назад

      That would work or you can find heavier capacity 3, 4 and 5 inch casters on Amazon.

    looks great. how do you secure the 2x4 to the unit?

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  5 месяцев назад +2

      I think I show it at the end. I have a short on it on instagram if not. Gotta say though if i were to do it again with wheels I’d go with a 2x5 wheeled wire rack. I like Trinity ffrom Home Depot or Costco or Seville from Amazon. The heavy duty and pro models.

    Wheels are not $100. I just picked up heavy duty 5" locking casters set of 4 for $20 bucks shipped from amazon. Arrived in 2 days. Rated like 800lbs a caster. You are right about building is around $150 out of 2x4's (8ft) and 1/2 plywood but it is $130 in total. I prefer these metal shelves as they are a lot lighter when you need to adjust them. I leave the 2x4 8ft long and cut the plywood in half costing about $18 a shelf

      yeah I just bought a couple 4 packs of stemmed casters from amazon for about $25/4. Orange ones from some Japanese sellers. One set is rated for 2000 lbs the other like 1600 or something and they're only 3" wheels. The brake off kinds sucks but they seem legit. But yeah the ones I bought from Home Depot were 20 something per wheel only rated for 250 per wheel.
