    Honestly after a point all the technical stuff went over my head. Then I heard your Brother and his fam were expecting another baby. Like straight up I'm a stranger but please give them my love all the same. Wishing them all the best in health and happiness for the new baby. They looked great in their cosplays too, what a beautiful family.

    Always get permission in writing to be on private property. Even if its just an email or a text message that clearly says 'yes you have permission to be there.' If its just a verbal agreement then its your word against theirs if they decide they don't want you there.

    if you know how to change your focus points, try to play around which part of the subject your focus is on. The typical scenario is when you're looking at the barrel of a gun. You can focus on the gun or the face

    Once you cut to the location part, I was like "Wait....Wait wait wait....Is that freaking GASWORKS PARK!? OMG!!!! (I live about 30 min south of Seattle so I've been there a TON [ever since I was born basically], as well as Freeway Park, since I go to Sakuracon and PAX at the Con Center in Seattle..)

    Do you ever use Photoshop on your costume shots? I'm a big ps nerd and place my costume into existing backgrounds and do color correction/ touchup in program. as long as you photograph against a solid contrasting color you can do some really cool stuff.

    • @punishedprops
      @punishedprops  7 лет назад +2

      Most of my post processing happens in Lightroom. If I need to do any compositing, I go to Photoshop, but I try to capture as much in camera as possible whenever I can.

    Hey Bill, do you use a sealant after you have painted 3D printed parts, or just painted foam parts?

    • @punishedprops
      @punishedprops  7 лет назад

      Nearly everything I make gets sealed with some kind of clear outer layer. For foam I like varnish and for rigid props like 3D prints I'll use a rattle can of clear spray paint or airbrush on something like clear lacquer.

    and do you have a really good cam under $300?

    • @punishedprops
      @punishedprops  7 лет назад +1

      I would keep an eye on Ebay and try to get a deal on something like a used Nikon D3100 and a 50mm f/1.8 lens. You'll probably have to buy each separate from one another, but if you're patient, you should be able to score something for around $300.

      @kerrie0002 7 лет назад

      True that, always happens to me. looks at camera... nah won't need it, half an hour later shit there's so much I could be taking right now.

    • @punishedprops
      @punishedprops  7 лет назад

      I used to always keep all my camera gear in the trunk of my car, just in case. Nowadays if I at least have my Sony RX100 on me, I'm ready for most things.

    • @kerrie0002
      @kerrie0002 7 лет назад

      that's the thing with mirror less cameras, much more compact and you don't need to think twice about not needing it as it's so light. I'm a dslr user myself having the monster sigma 18-35mm f1.8. I always have it now on my blackrapid sling.
      BTW I'm making my first cosplay suit of a halo 5 mark iv suit. I'm nearly done making it but just keep running out of time to do it with school and homework leading up for my gcse's. many of your techniques helped me. Anyways I love your videos as they really help. keep up the great content : )
