  • Nancy Reason, a lawyer with Pro Bono Ontario shared legal expertise and information for family caregivers at The Reitman Centre's 10th annual World Alzheimer's Day event titled, "Navigating the decision making journey of caring for someone with dementia"
    Nancy explains Guardianship in this part of her talk on "Substitute Decision Making: A Caregiver's Guide", with a Question and Answer period at the end. Following this introduction Nancy covers these topics:
    Ways of Becoming a Substitute Decision Maker:
    a. Powers of Attorney (property and personal care)
    b. Statutory Guardianship (property only)
    c. Court-appointed Guardianship
    The event also provided caregivers with the opportunity to learn about the support programs and services offered through the Reitman Centre and Alzheimer Societies of Ontario partnership "Enhancing Care for Ontario Care Partners" www.dementiaca...
    Family Caregiver's also learned of services offered by Bridgepoint Active Healthcare | The Cultivating Change Project; and about caregivers programs and services offered by Circle of Care's Adult Day Program.
