That’s exactly my configuration, and suggestion: Project M with the iFi Hip DAC 3, with bass boost on. It is just perfect for my taste. It is my current favorite IEM. The only one that is still slightly better, in my collection, is the UM Mest II.

I’ve only subscribed to your channel today. Been following your channel for a while now. Actually it was the IE600 review you did that made me by a pair from Addicted to Audio after reviewing them and auditioning them in the store. Your enthusiasm towards this pair of Dita Project M, had me hooked. After doing more research and reading 9 reviews on Head-Fi. All between 4 and 5 Star ⭐️ reviews mind you. I’ve created an account with Mini Disc and Ordered a pair Blind, based on your review. I’m hoping they are as good as the IE600 or better. I’ve only just recently ordered the Hisenior Mega5-EST as a blind order based on DMS review. So here we are. Waiting for both to be shipped . Thanks to your review. @@PassionforSound Thanks . I received my Project M today from Minidisc. I’m really impressed. Your video is very accurate on all aspects. I would say that the detail retrieval may impact the type of source you’re using or DAC/ AMP combo. What I mean is its clarity shows up detail in the source. So by choosing a different source is noticeable in the detail. I haven’t received my Mega5-EST just yet. But will compare those also. Thanks again for a very accurate review and a worthy purchase suggestion.
Had one for months now. Love the sound quality, it is spicy on certain tracks but after many months of listening the treble has calm down and doesn't sound too spicy.
Nice review! We've been really impressed by the Project M as well, both the looks and the sound. We agree about the treble, for some genres and some customers it's just perfect (we love it for jazz) but it can get a bit hot on many tracks. Still, as an overall package with good looks and really comfortable fit for most people, we think it's a winner.
Just picked up a pair. Primarily based on your review, along with a couple of other reviews. My take... Setup: Macbook Pro w Apple Dongle and eqMac playing Spotify. Switched to foam tips that were not provided. Music: Classical, Jazz, Rock, Electronic, pretty much everything but Country and Western.... Straight w no EQ, sounds great, but bass was there but thin. Adding EQ was mixed. ( Some of the presets were 'meh' and made the sound worse.) On some music enhancing the bass started to cause distortion. Just .5db at 32Hz and then ~3.5db at 64Hz seemed best for me. (Note: After 20+ hours of listening... seems that the distortion has gone away. Maybe this counts as burn in? ) Played some classic rock (Black Sabbath (Iron Man, War Pigs for example.) Sounded great w no EQ. Better w my bass settings. After some burn in, EQ'd bass booster was ok too. Separation was great. Music was clear. I mean like really good. Pretty much what you and the other reviewers have said were true. The negatives... 1) Carrying case too big to fit in pocket. Ok if traveling w EDC work bag. 2) When I unboxed cable was hard to tell L from R. And then trying to see which unit was L or R. (Manual wasn't much of a help.) Overall, love them so far.

Its okish my main issue is that the project M is that the only detail comes from the midrage. Not to mention the notable sibilance spikes. Sure you can use hard foam to clean up the sibilance but you would make the already avarage bass detail even worse. Imo they are way overcharing for this and would be 200sgd at most. Then again the one thing it does accel at is timbre so if that is your only concern then yes its worth
It sounds to me like your tastes and mine are similar. I think the technical performance of these absolutely warrants their price - I just think they're not the right IEM for your tastes. (And that's totally fine - not trying to make you wrong)

It's very interesting but I am about to buy the Pilgrim from Elysian Labs which is around the same price? So I would like to know if you can compare the Project M to the Pilgrim? And if I buy the Pilgrim I will also have to buy another Effect Audio cable like the Cadmus because of the Pentacon termination that are specific to Elysian Labs in a way to get the best of the Pilgrim. But If I buy the Project M, Iwon't have to buy any another cable and it will be far less expansive to me...
I think it matters in what you value in sound. The Pilgrim is a bit more similar to the harman sound where there is a slight mid bass dip with more sub bass and a less peaky and smoother treble. The Project M is a bit less bassey overall with a smoother lower response and more peaky and elevated treble with a solid dip in the upper mids. If I were you, I would buy the Pilgrim as I’ve heard more positive about it than the Project M though the Project M is still highly rated. The Pilgrim is being called as the most technical under $500. Regarding an aftermarket cable, I really wouldn’t fall into that kind of stuff. Thinking that the cable can affect the sound is not recommended personally. Especially since you’re looking at a $300 cable. At this total (with the pilgrim) you could probably get a $700 IEM that comes with a good cable and call it a day.
I suggest you buy the DITA first, and then the Pilgrim. It should prove easy to sell the one you like least (I'll definitely buy either one from you, at the right price, of course).
I've got the Pilgrim here now so I'll try to do a super quick comparison before I ship the Project Ms out. I heard the Pilgrims briefly while I was in Penang and they're impressive too so it'll be an interesting battle.
@@PassionforSoundafter watching the review from Mark over at Super Review, apparently, the tuning has been changed to be less bright. He said he thought the canjam nyc version was better and more unique. Now he says it’s a little safer and average but not as good anymore. His squiglink has both before and after and there is a definite difference in the upper mid range and treble region.
Different genres, but value performance of this set vs Verum 2’s? I’d be happier if more Mfg had such a favorable price/performance ratio! Nice video style btw. I almost have to rewatch this one catch all the sound impressions :)
So glad you liked the new approach! As for the value proposition, I think the Project M gives more bang for buck largely because it starts off cheaper.
I wonder if these would be a good upgrade from my Elixirs. I would like more transparent mids and bit more detail overall. I can be a little treble sensitive. I enjoy the Elixirs but sometimes fit and comfort spoil long listening sessions. This price bracket is perfect even up to $400. Thanks...
That's a tricky one! These are a little brighter in the treble to my ears, but the transparency and clarity is outstanding. Midrange is a little pulled back in the lower registers so it depends on whether you mean "detail and clarity" when you say you want midrange transparency or if you want a more present and available midrange which would require better balance between the mids and treble.
*Hey i also heard that this model produce high quality dolby atmos effect, like living or jumping in that real moment theatre like almost experience, how true is that??*

@@PassionforSound OMG, Lachlan! These are nothing short of amazing, seriously! Mine arrived a day later than I thought, but still lightening fast from Singapore. I used a "Test Tracks" playlist that I use to test all of my new audio gear. I started by simply listening to them from my iPhone through the Apple dongle - and they sounded fantastic right out of the box. My jaw hit the floor as soon as the music started playing. But then ... after listening to dozens of tracks, I plugged them into my HiFiMan EF499 and then my Violectric V222 HPA via the 4.4 pentagon balanced connector, listening to streaming hi-res through my Musician Pegasus V2 DAC ... and WOW!!!! These just disappear in my ears and my head is surrounded with the artist playing right in front of me!!! These sound better than a lot of my much more expensive headphones. No wonder the DITA website now says "Sold Out" on the Project M landing page. These are an audio GEM and thank you again for the recommendation!
I know is hard to compare because one is an iem and the other is over ear and one is dynamic driver and the other is planar but in your taste which one you prefer the Project M or the Verum 2 ?
I personally prefer the Verum 2 but that's only because it's tuning is slightly more to my tastes and because I use headphones 90% of the time vs IEMs. Both are excellent value for money and both sound fantastic.
They are shockingly close to craft ears omnium aka the best fuckin IEMs in the world (in my opinion). Definitely an anomaly. unbelievable technical performance and resolution for only $325
I strongly agree! The details retrieval & vocals are so so great in this. With its outstanding price-performance, build & aesthetic quality, I surely think it can rival those higher priced or even thousand dollars IEMs out there.
@@PassionforSound Thanks! Am also eyeing the Raptgo Hook-X by Linsoul. Seems like the Project M is just slightly better made and supported, the Hook-X more unique.
The Project M's sense of clarity is as good or better. When it comes to tuning, that's more preferential and I don't have notes to help me describe the differences in detail so you'd need to check out measurements and reviews to see which is the better choice for you. You could start at PFS.squig.link
Just tested them vs my butastur. Maybe the ba in the nozzle is reminding me of a kz. Weird timbre. I had to tip roll a lot and ended up with the green and black penon/isn tips. Technically they seem in line or only slightly better than the price point. The connectors don't fully seat with both cables I tried. Not a total loss but disappointing. At least the dd is pretty good, some tracks show a bit better bass than the ba set.
@1fareast14 the Dawn Pro is nice, but that's your limiting factor. Having run the Project Ms on super high end gear like the Chord DAVE, they've got a lot to give!
Well, you got me. Infected by your infectious enthusiasm which was infectiously enthusiastic, I ordered a pair. This means it will be entirely your fault if they suck. It also means I can blame you when I have to explain to my poor, loyal Fiios why they are going into the back of a dark drawer for ever and ever. Between sobs - "Lachlan told me to do it, lads. I'm.... Sorry".
You are off the hook, Lachlan. Received mine today. Incredibly quick delivery as I am in Scotland and ordered them on Monday. Word to other UK buyers. Import duty and VAT will be about £60 on top of the price. As to the IEMs, they are fantastic. Neutral to my ears with great clarity and detail, and beautiful timbre. Voices, especially, are lovely. No regrets here at all. Thanks, Lachlan for bringing these to our attention. Dita were not on my radar. PS they come with a cool tote bag free.
I think the question you need to ask yourself is whether you want a more smooth and midrange focused headphone (HD600) or a more energetic headphone with more bass and treble energy (relative to the HD600)
Designed by a young engineer who started hanging around the Dita office and they eventually said to him - show us what you want to design. Well done to him (and the dita crew), not my choice of tuning as id like more bass but I figure I could always eq that in given the low distortion.
That's pretty awesome that the young engineer has produced such an amazing IEM for them and that they have him/her the chance to go for it! VV, tips cannot improve the bass and can only mildly adjust the treble.
I'm at the part of the video where we're supposed to guess how much this IEM costs. I'm gonna go with $1,250 - $1,500 USD. Edit: that's just straight goofy.
Paused the video to guess the price, guessing since you think it’s one of the best things that you have heard in a long time, and the resin housing, case etc, has to be $1500-$2200.
You got me, was not expecting that price bracket at all. And partly that is because really, I’m not sure I’ve seen you so enthusiastic about a product before. Nice seeing you so excited bud, makes me excited in turn, vicariously 🙂

Any top of the mind thoughts on comparision of IE900 and project M for shorter, engaging listening sessions, on busy genres like rock. Do you like treble on these better than IE900.
That's a tough one. I think the IE900 might have a slight technical edge over the Project M, but the Ms might be a little more fun. You definitely can't go wrong either way.
No, these will never be a true bass head IEM, VV. For bass heads you need to go towards things like the ikko OH10/OH10S, Yanyin Canon II. I can't actually think of a truly bassy IEM to recommend at the moment because most have extra treble and become more v-shaped.

Is that the Project M or Pilgrim that changed?
High praise, indeed!
Ordered 1 for collection, how does it compare to IO audio Volare?
Only ONE? Left or right earpiece?
@@TheVeganVicar 🤪🍻
@@RaviSharma-sx1ey, 🙏 नमस्ते 🙏
You made a GREAT purchase decision in the Project M! ✅
@@TheVeganVicar thank you sir 🙏
I haven't tried the Volare so can't comment on that one.
Different genres, but value performance of this set vs Verum 2’s?
I’d be happier if more Mfg had such a favorable price/performance ratio!
Nice video style btw.
I almost have to rewatch this one catch all the sound impressions :)
I did rewatch :)
Sense of humor on “bite” ☑️
Succinctness ✨
I haven't tried them with a Dolby Atmos source, but they definitely create an excellent soundstage and imaging so I suspect they'd work.well in the circumstances you're describing
@@PassionforSound oh, thanks
Hype 4 or these? Please recommend
These. 110%
@PassionforSound will they pair well with ifi gryphon?
Excellent review! Thanks for sharing :-)
These seem to be permanently sold out on Dita Audio’s website. Where do you buy them (for the US)?
I'm not sure on that one. I expect that they'll get stock back soon.
Better than Thieaudio Hype 4?
By a very wide margin, IMO
@@PassionforSoundThanks, Lachlan! Mine arrive tomorrow! Can’t wait!
🎼❤️🎼
Congratulations! You'll love them, I think
@@PassionforSound Ohhh, Lachlan, Lachlan, Lachlan … these are CRAZY GOOD!!! They arrived a day later than I thought, but still lightning fast from Singapore. Seriously, started playing my custom Test Tracks playlist and my jaw hit the floor because they sound so good! So far I have only listened to them from my iPhone through the Apple dongle and I am blown away. Next I will use the 4.4 Pentagon connector and listen to them through my HiFiMan EF499 and Violectric V222 amplifiers.
You nailed these my friend! Thank you so much for the recommendation! 🎼❤️🎼
These are an audio GEM and thank you again for the recommendation!
how would u compare it to the helios ?
I haven't tried the Helios
A bit of excess treble can easily be fixed with the mojo 2
Very true
I know is hard to compare because one is an iem and the other is over ear and one is dynamic driver and the other is planar but in your taste which one you prefer the Project M or the Verum 2 ?
I personally prefer the Verum 2 but that's only because it's tuning is slightly more to my tastes and because I use headphones 90% of the time vs IEMs. Both are excellent value for money and both sound fantastic.
Project M vs Hype 4. Is it worth to pay more to get Hype 4 or just get the Project?
Project M or maybe wait a bit and check out my upcoming Pilgrim review...
Does this sound more magical than the Meze Alba?
Different. These are technically stronger (resolution, imaging, etc.) but their tuning is going to not suit everybody as consistently.
@@PassionforSound Thanks! Am also eyeing the Raptgo Hook-X by Linsoul. Seems like the Project M is just slightly better made and supported, the Hook-X more unique.
I don't actually think the Hook is as great as some say. I much prefer the Elixir. Project M is better than both IMO.
In an a/b test, which treble would you prefer? project m or ie600?
I auditioned both and found the DITA superior in every respect.
That's a tough one. I think they're both equivalent, but different.
Project M vs THIEAUDIO Monarch MKIII sound quality?
The Project M's sense of clarity is as good or better. When it comes to tuning, that's more preferential and I don't have notes to help me describe the differences in detail so you'd need to check out measurements and reviews to see which is the better choice for you. You could start at PFS.squig.link
Blind bought these off this video's recommendation, we'll see if they are any good
I hope you love them!
Sorry to hear that you're not as impressed as I am. What's your source?
@PassionforSound Moondrop dawn pro, I'll be trying again with fiio ka17 when it arrives
I'm.... Sorry".
They DEFINITELY do not “suck”. 😊
Haha. I'm nervous now, Jim! I hope you love them and I'm pretty sure you will.
@@jimfarrell4635, which eartips do you prefer with the DITA?
That's great news, Jim! I'm so glad you like them so much! 🙂

It's all relative and about each person's priorities 🙂

The Dita Navigator is great or the Questyle M15. If you're going desktop then it would depend on your budget and preferences.
Too many to choose from in this price range. Project M,Dusk,Pilgrim and DaVinci.

If I was to be 100% honest to the answer for 2:19
I would have said $899 for the price.
Thanks for being honest about it. I felt similar when I first got them.
Sounds really promising
NOT "promising" but "delivering".
They are very special earphones.
I wish I had TWO pairs!
Yeah, in fact after some researching I might very well get one of these

349?
USD$325 or AUD$549.
Grab a pair ASAP - you definitely won't regret the decision to purchase these amazing earphones!
Great guess, vaneast!
Please help...Sundara vs HD 600
hd 600
Sundara!
Sundara is the worst currently made Hifiman planar. Literally every single current production planar from Hifiman is better. The HE400se included.
I think the question you need to ask yourself is whether you want a more smooth and midrange focused headphone (HD600) or a more energetic headphone with more bass and treble energy (relative to the HD600)
my guess is 300$
Nice guess!
Designed by a young engineer who started hanging around the Dita office and they eventually said to him - show us what you want to design.
Well done to him (and the dita crew), not my choice of tuning as id like more bass but I figure I could always eq that in given the low distortion.
OR change the eartips. I recommend the FiiO HS18.
That's pretty awesome that the young engineer has produced such an amazing IEM for them and that they have him/her the chance to go for it!
VV, tips cannot improve the bass and can only mildly adjust the treble.
3:45 Bass NOT punchy or strong? Nooooo! Why?!!???? I was ready to get these but that's a deal breaker.
might need other tips for a better seal.
I'm at the part of the video where we're supposed to guess how much this IEM costs. I'm gonna go with $1,250 - $1,500 USD.
Edit: that's just straight goofy.
They are FAR superior to earphones that I have auditioned costing nearly USD$2,000.
It's a good guess based on the build, accessories and performance of these. That's how nuts they are!
Nah treble too harsh bass to thin
Really benefit from tip rolling; they are a spectacular. I absolutely love them!
I’m ready to play along. I’m going to guess without reading any comments or anything. I’m going to guess $465.
It's a great guess based on the packaging, build quality and even sound, but still higher than the actual price! 😱😁
@@RocketLauncherwithInfiniteAmmo, these are an ABSOLUTELY must buy!
I would buy an extra pair to boot!!!
@@TheVeganVicar haha must be pretty special. Might make sure that they are the right set first for me though.
@@RocketLauncherwithInfiniteAmmo, obviously, if you have the opportunity to audition them beforehand, do so. I'm certain you will be pleased with the sound quality, assuming you use the right eartips (take your entire collection with you, especially the FiiO HS18).
@@TheVeganVicar HS18?
Any top of the mind thoughts on comparision of IE900 and project M for shorter, engaging listening sessions, on busy genres like rock. Do you like treble on these better than IE900.
I preferred the DITA, after auditioning them both.
That's a tough one. I think the IE900 might have a slight technical edge over the Project M, but the Ms might be a little more fun. You definitely can't go wrong either way.
Don't know a lot about Dita, but I recall they're not cheap. Then again my KZ ZSN has the same DD & BA design.
$500 USD.
Solid guess based on everything is said to this point!
$400? USD?
edit: (close!)
The answer is even better (coincidentally, one of DITA's earphones are called "The Answer").
Good guess, Mikael!
Can u suggest some basshead iem plz
THESE can be basshead with the right eartips, despite what every other review has said or written.
No, these will never be a true bass head IEM, VV. For bass heads you need to go towards things like the ikko OH10/OH10S, Yanyin Canon II. I can't actually think of a truly bassy IEM to recommend at the moment because most have extra treble and become more v-shaped.
CA Polaris, Mjolnir, Ikko OH10, QKZ HBB Khan, Cannon
Yet another bass-anemic set to pass on :D
They're not anaemic as such, but it sounds like you're more like me and will long for a bit more than these deliver down low.
@@PassionforSound They're sincerely beautiful shells and construction throughout, so I won't lie, a part of me still wants em a bit :P
this is a basshead's nightmare
That's going a little far I think, but yes - definitely not for the bass-oriented listener 🙂
$1300?
That's a very reasonable guess based on their build quality and accessories!
$150
Now that would be a supreme bargain!
U mad? State of the frequency response
299,-
Nice guess!
Yeah i thought i would be way off 😋 but i just put the Price i would pay for some good iems 🤘🤑
