Aside from tactical analysis, Simeone has a big heart. Never see the man sits down like others(correct me if I'm wrong), always standing(as if he's playing with his team) and cheering his team on like crazy. Charismatic and passionate describes him so much...
Always been a fan of the 4-4-2 diamond or the versatile 3-5-2 but maybe it’s just cuz I’m Italian and biased. Serie A used to be the league to watch. I miss those days. But they are coming back.
The old 4-4-2 system traditionally had aggressive wingers and a '9' and a '10' up front. When the wingers push high, and the '10' drops to link play - you end up with a modern 4-3-3. The terminology changes, but the fundamentals never do.
The squad wasn't the best, individually. I don't know what witch craft he used to get them to work so well together. Poor tactics. Poor recruitment (just like their neighbours).
Funny thing is, atletico have been the fear of any big club for the last 3 years, especially real madrid have had issues. But when the 2 madrid clubs play in the champions league, Real always came out on top. And has been the only team to knock out atletico 3 years straight. Basically atletico would probably have 3 CL's if it wasnt for real madrid
Peter Due Real Madrid plays a bit on the counter attack due to the pace up front and the quality passing of both Modric and Kroos. Defense is rock solid as well as the GK. They have Casemiro who is improving a lot
I love these so much. These are so fun and interesting to understand. Breaking down teams into their philosophy, shape and tactical strengths really engages my soccer knowledge. Next video, talk about the origins of the passing game with Queens Park of Scotland.
I am blown away... this is incredible.... please don't ever stop. You guys are doing incredible incredible work! Thoughtful, analytical, sophisticated, and the animation adds so much depth. Even the type of topics you cover. Well done - I hope you guys do really well. Magnificent. Thank-you!!!!
Just love the insight... So in-depth and almost makes you think about all of the other components to a team. Unreal! Your Regista and Conte videos were awesome.
Jupp was Bayern best manager out of the three.he made robben and ribery learn how to defend and also made javi Martinez and bastian the best pivot partnership about
+Wes Chambers People who call Guardiola the best manager do not give Heynckes enough credit. Heynckes was arguably the more successful manager (he did lead Bayern to the treble, after all), but he still was able to implement a fast and exciting style of play, as opposed to Guardiola's boring possession-based football. And on top of that, he did not ignore and disrespect Bayern's traditions and club legends, like Guardiola did. Heynckes was by far the better manager.
Brilliant video. So interesting. I've been wondering if Griezmann were to leave who in world football would be a suitable replacement? His job at Atleti is so difficult and crucial, it's one thing to be a skilled striker it's another to be relied upon to have the individual skills to be able to take advantage of the few opportunities he has per game to score, against the best teams in the world. His skill and adaptability is astonishing, watching him in the French national side you can see that flexibility.
@@ninjalectualx Actually wild isn't it? Can't understand the Alvarez move, he's still so young and getting so much time with City, I get that he won literally everything you can win in a year a Treble and a World Cup so he already has a big case of trophies but like he has to understand that he's leaving the best team in the world to go to maybe the 10th. He'll be lucky to win 1 meaningful trophy there in the next 5 years where as with City he'd probably get 7-10 trophies in that period. Bizarre.
I love this channel but I would like to see you guys to make PDF files for your tactics explain. It would be nice taking the PDF and Implementing the system into our own local teams!
+CmMiz 101 Not to mention Heynckes's style of play was both effective and entertaining. Guardiola got decent results but his possession-based football was more boring than watching paint dry.
Love these videos on teams and tactics. I hope you do more along this series exploring other teams of different eras and their tactics like Sampaoli's Sevilla, Conte's Juve, Conte's Chelsea, Ancelotti's Milan, Klopp's Dortmund, Fergie's United, etc...
You may have covered it individually at times, but the PL and how the formations have changed over the years and who influenced changes. Most recently the change from 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 and this season an influx of 3-4-3
Great analysis, very well explained and demonstrated. I would be interested to see an analysis on why the 'slump' the past few years. Why they're struggling to keep the fourth la liga position this year, why small yet defensively organized teams give them such a hard time.
Love your work. Please continue making these videos. My suggestion is for tactical transformation of Arsene Wenger post Emirates from strong direct football to current short and agile style.
Fantastic again, would love to see your take on the Ajax side under Runis Michels and the evolution of the side from the deployment of the Sweeper to a Libero and the high press, you have touched on it in the pressing video, but would be quality to see more white boards of it. also purely from a Scottish point of view show how inferior teams can beat the better sides by using shape and teamwork over individual quality
Great stuff! Although I might add, when the opponent has the ball in the middle of the field (CBs and deep in midfield), both strikers are dropping in front of the midfielders unusually deep, effectively as another two midfielders. Only when the opponent is on the brink of losing the ball/played it out wide, do one of the strikers lurk forward anticipating a long ball.
Would love to see a video of Sampaoli's tactics if possible. Hearing so much about him but haven't had the chance to watch some Sevilla games. Also if you could go into more detail on the whole 'Southampton recruitment model' that would also be very entertaining (Claude Puel's tactics explained would be helpful as a Southampton fan who is a bit puzzled sometimes!). Huge fan of the videos, keep it up.
pls do videos talking about: - Australia Hyundai A-league's struggle to compete with other codes - Chinese Super League's Rise financially - The Brazilian football league system's congesting fixtures - Tactics of Tony Pulis' Stoke City - The demise of the Enganche and Trequartista
Amazing content. As a West Brom fan I can relate to these tactics well, I'd be really intrigued to see how you'd pick apart our 6-at-the-back when defending philosophy, and get your general take on Pulis' methods
I think the Modern Arsenal under Wenger would be very very interesting. It is often taken for granted that we "play good stuff", but how? Why? Obviously we have technically brilliant players, but to play this way over such a period of time means that there is some tactic involved, despite it often seeming Wenger just lets the players do as they wish
Amazing work as always, although you didn't explain how they handle counter attacks. BTW, I hope you may cover and explain Sampaoli's Sevilla, one of the most exciting teams in the la liga.
It'd be fair to have an analysis on ZZ's Madrid, which has had an impressive run this season, but I (and several friends whom I've discussed it) have no idea if it even has a special style or it's just the raw power they have that makes them successful. Maybe it's their super prolific scoring defense line, idk. Thank you. Awesome work!
442 is balanced position either dfending or attcking. Which made their mifilder can create intensity n find out the gameplay either pressing .built up counter. Or flank. Which means they need 2 cmf with skill individual ability to create pace
Rodolfo Gaming Already seen it , it wasn't about his tactics, but about how Levy hired him to increase the outcomes because Pochettino doesn't spend much but instead he relies on the academy talents.
It's enabled me to teach younger players different systems with little complication. The animated aspect with story telling keeps teenage players interested and engaged. A struggle when competing with other content!
Was watching the United game yesterday and the tactics explained is 100 percent. I was more focused on the Athletico tactics but noticed at times yesterday that on the counter they rushed the passing and gave up dangerous possession after trying to go too direct. At times athletico just needed to hold possession after being 1 nil up but they wanted to finnish the match. Near the end Athletico played it safer.
Great Video. Summary of 4-4-2: 1. Wing Play 2. Counter attacking football Just like leicester city. Fergie employed 4-4-2 formation at man utd for wing play when Cristiano Ronaldo was there. Play to your team's strength. Simple

Can you do a special piece on Sir Alex's key tactical shifts through his long Managerial career? Especially why Del Bosque described his style at one point as "Tactical Anarchy." Most people only comment on his leadership.
During Simeones peak at Atletico when they had players like Courtois, Filipe Luis, Falcao etc. They were pretty much impossible to break down. I would watch my club against them and teams pretty much didnt even get close to their box. It was extremely frustrating to watch. They drew their forwards so far back and their wingers inside. We would pass the ball wide to the full back and the only way to go after that was always back or switch the ball to the other flank. I dont know if people understands how hard it is to get your players to work like this for 90 minutes a whole season. To get players like Diego Costa with his personality to play as a midfielder when defending. Its like trying to get Zlatan to do that. I dont care what anyone says about Simeone, not even fucking KLOPP could break this guys team down. Yeah its boring to watch this kind of "parasite" type of football but its also fascinating to me because still, Simeones strikers still scores like 20+ goals in the league. Griezmann, Falcao, Diego Costa even Torres improved there,
Pretty much spot on. Ppl just dismiss saying park the bus but they don’t know the immense concentration, work ethic and self belief required to pull it off against the very best clubs. It’s the same reason you don’t see burnley beating Liverpool every other week. Pulling this tactic off is a completely different than just doing it just for the sake of it
Can you make a video analysing the 4-4-2 formation and the tactics used by Sir Alex Ferguson (Contrary to Simeone's 4-4-2, SAF's was known for attacking football)? He's made many great teams over his 26 year reign. It will be good to know whether they all had the similar tactics or did his tactics evolve with time.
Can y'all do a video on Borrusia Dortmund and how they are managing to attract so many young players to the club, and how most of them are regular starters for the club unlike other teams

The old 4-4-2 system traditionally had aggressive wingers and a '9' and a '10' up front.
When the wingers push high, and the '10' drops to link play - you end up with a modern 4-3-3.
