Yes ! MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity ) is more common then people know and it is something you can develop over time. So finding none toxic products is so important 😀
I like to collect small plastic things and 50-50 tickets from parties, as they can come in handy for crafting! I enjoyed watching you make the miniature kettle! You know so many tricks about what to use for painting or ageing things! I think I've learnt a lot from you! TFS! ~Janet in Canada
I applaud all you miniaturists! You're so clever and patient. I'd have that poor little teapot mangled and very dirty looking with all the handling. Kudos to all of you!
Great project! You can gently pull thin strips of paper or cardstock between your thumb and the top of a table knife blade to curve it. It breaks down the paper fibers and avoids creases.
So cute! I made a a teapot out of foil, masking tape and kitchen towel for my daughters mouse house. She was 5/at the time and it held up with all the rough play. This looks so much cuter - so it time for an upgrade. It's actually so nice that with her getting older and being more gentle and my skills improving I can improve on the house .
for a better acrylic wash experience try mixing it with airbrush medium. You'll get a thin liquid consistency that doesn't run as much as it would with water. You are getting the ridges in the paper because you are cutting against the grain and then rounding with the grain. If you cut in the other direction and round against the grain the paper won't crease. I love your videos!
Personally, as a clay person, I would have just gone that route but darn it! If you didn't continue to wow and amaze me with your ability to see a kettle in all of these little recycled pieces. So impressive. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you :) When you try a new technique, it's impossible to know how it'll turn out. If it turned out bad, I'd add it to an attic diorama I plan to make someday. That's where all my broken minis and crafting fails will end up 😆
I love using the wood glue for shaping and added dimension. ..I learned it from a tutorial on the vintage train case set I made..creating the handles. And I agree with the mod podge you have to really smooth those brush marks out as even as you can with super light stokes. I saw those needle files at HF for $3..and I just got that set for xmas...I really needed them!! I love how it came out!! Cute lil tea kettle! Ugh..I'm going stir crazy on foot recovery..I'm almost to my breaking point..lol yesterday I started putting together this vintage miniature paper theatre model..and tried to film with my phone..didn't happen..lol
$3! What a deal. Some of the stuff at Harbor Freight is cheap and poor quality but lots of it is cheap and good quality. I can't get Mod Podge to dry flat no matter what I try. It's like it's made to show brush strokes. I'm glad you're keeping yourself occupied. That sounds like a cute project. At least share a photo on your Community tab on RUclips so we can see it even if you can't film it.
Been saving bits for items like this. Lovely video, inspiring, must get back to finishing a small doll house project, this has fired up the enthusiasm again. Thank you.
I made a kettle once, made it from a superglue cap and some beads, paited it in a copper tone and set it on my coal stove that i made from popsicles sticks and paper. Love your kettle and all the mini stuff you make. So inspiring.
I have spent the greater part of today binge-watching your videos, including this series. I love your work! You are so meticulous with the details, and that is what makes your projects so perfect. New subscriber.
Thank you for this! It turned out so cute. I am so sick of buying teapots in sets and not being able to get a specific color pattern. This will be so cool to try!
This is super cute. I'm not sure if you've ever curled ribbon before, but if you do that to a strip of paper with a bone folder, edge of a table, or even a pen or pencil, edge of your scissors, etc. it will curve without leaving those ridges.
I adore it! I love your projects and your videos so much!!! Nothing else out there scratches that itch. I hope you do more little detailed projects like this one❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@queencityminis that’s awesome. I learned by watching videos here that you can use coffee grinds as potting soil. Well…I don’t drink coffee. So there I am at work taking the little used coffee pots and bagging them up hahaha I must’ve looked nuts. But now I have realistic looking potting soil 😂
I am impressed! I especially loved the stained glass effects you added. When you were making the tea kettle, I wondered if you slightly dampened the card stock would it roll without the folds?
This kettle is awesome and so cute! I would have thought it was made out of clay. Happy new year to you Shyra, I can’t wait to see what you create in 2023 😊
Thank you Gina ☺️ You know how it when you make something from scratch with a new technique. Who knows how it may turn out? I'm glad this was a winner.
Yes, Beacon 3 in 1 is the truth!...I use it all of the time😊...this came out very nicely....and lol @ rescuing those droppers, only a minaturists!🤣... we find usage out of almost anything!
When I run out of Fabritac, I'm definitely getting some 3 in 1. I was sneaking around the wedding taking pipettes off of tables, wiping off the frosting and sticking them in my purse. I hope nobody noticed 😂
Interesting, I usually use more aggressive metal nail files to round over stuff like that cardstock tube. Emory board is often better to then file it soft.
This is nice! Although I am curious as to why you didn’t use polymer clay or air dry clay? Was it just to offer alternatives, or was there another reason?
I didn't use clay to offer alternatives. There are already so many tutorials showing how to make a kettle or teapot with clay. Some people don't have clay or don't like using it.

Finally a crafter who is aware of toxicity in some glues. I’m glad you are bringing to our attention. Thank you!
Of course! Another important thing is to always wear a mask when sanding and also when spraying anything. Gotta protect your lungs.
Yes ! MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity ) is more common then people know and it is something you can develop over time. So finding none toxic products is so important 😀
I so agree…all the glues, paints etc are hard on the skin too.
On that note, I've decided I'm not buying the Walmart hand sanitizer anymore because it started bothering my lungs, especially if there was humidity.
Calm down
It is so refreshing to see a tutorial that doesn't require clay! I love how your teapot turned out!
Thank you! I agree.
I love how you include changes you made along the way. It’s helpful and shows how ideas and plans change during the creative process. 👏🏼
I just LOVE that you were at the wedding and you did like I would......collecting all the pipettes from the tables!

Great project! You can gently pull thin strips of paper or cardstock between your thumb and the top of a table knife blade to curve it. It breaks down the paper fibers and avoids creases.
That's a great tip! I had creases in the handle and the piece I wrapped around the kettle. I'll try that next time.
Ooooh. Didn't even think of that! I'm actually recreating this, so I'll give both ways a go. Thank you both so very much! Blessings in the new year! 💚
