That's the point. They're making human versions of each character and recreating the movie. Ramone probably has a small pointy mustache, slicked back hair, and a body absolutely COVERED in tattoos. Also maybe prosthetic legs? Mater probably just looks like Larry the Cable guy lmao.
Why do I now think Cars would have been better with humans? This was incredible!

@@dedalionarts6077No they're right. Cars had no reason to really be living cars in the first place, replace them with humans who drive with iconic car designs and nothing changes with the plot overall.
@@riskingrain1560except some things wouldn’t work as humans. Such as racers don’t drive their race cars casually or in their trailers so Lightning getting lost wouldn’t work that well

I kinda want to see the scene of Doc Hudson returning now. the moment when the other pit crews recognize him and the entire audience turning to see his return. that and the moment when lightning sees sally's tattoo. the human version of that has got to be funny.

Cars may not be the best movie in Pixar’s but you gotta admit, when Lightning mirrors Docs words and tells King they’re just empty cups, that hits hard

As someone who was obsessed with Cars as a kid, it was a pleasant surprise seeing this in my recommend
Honestly the first shot of McQueen as a human caught me off guard because he's "not supposed to look anime" in my mind.
But honestly, the more I watched, the more I enjoyed it! I think the original Cars story could work well as a human story, (albeit with major changes to the world building, of course.) but some of the conflict and ableism seen in the series would have to be addressed.
Also, I think when Doc scares McQueen with the while "Sign says stay out." Line, his form could be silhouetted, since he'd be standing in front of he light source, and as he steps in, his face (and McQueens) would be illuminated. Kind of saying that, now that McQueen has discovered Doc's past, Doc is literally coming out of his mysterious shadow, and is shedding light on himself.
Lightning McQueen as a human kind of resembles Vert from Battle Force 5, only his hair's a messy shock rather than how Vert's is slicked back.

I would watch the entire movie but with this style, it’s so good.
Oh my God! This is incredible! Wonderful work! I always love humanized Cars stuff. Would live to see more like him and Sally talking at the Wheel Well or him and Mater (gotta know how he drives backwards as a human; maybe in his actual tow truck) or even the moment when Radiator Springs returns to its hey day and McQueen and Sally basically realize how they feel.
Cars is my favorite movie of all time, I have the script (almost) completely memorized, and I know the scenes by heart. You did an amazing job with this, and you absolutely NAILED McQueen's expression at the end when Doc slams the doors in his face

Beautiful animatic of a movie that was my childhood! But oh my god how that scene with Doc and Sheriff went WAY over my head even as an adult until now! Lightning I feel so sorry for you buddy 😂😂😂
This moment had a huge impact on me: back i was young i was some kind of snotty or arrogant but with time i understand what's important and i become more soft and nice.
Success are good i agree but there's more important than winning a simple paper or trophy: having friends or peoples you care about are more vital cuz being a loner isn't 1 healthy way to live. For example the moment when Flash meet Martin and the peoples from radiator springs he realize slowly but surely friendship is more colorful than some empty trophy

It’s honestly amazing how well this movie works, simply as a bunch of humans.
Though, when I was listening to it at work without being able to watch it, I had to envision a lot of the scenes involving several characters driving their cars and sitting out on a lowered window.
Basically, instead of it being a film about literal, sentient cars, I imagined it as a movie about a universe where cars are sometimes treated moreso as extensions of a person’s being/personality.
And Frank the Combine Tractor is just a mess, and I had to pretend it was an insane old farmer guy driving his Combine, trying to run over Mater and Lightning.
Oh, and whenever they said “tractor”, I had to pretend they said “cow” instead.
It really is amazing how such a seemingly simple change can make the story and characters feel more compelling. Ironically in a movie literally called 'Cars' where the main gimmick is sentient vehicles it becomes so much more interesting to humanize them. And while in an animated medium you can give humanity to all kinds of things, I dunno, something about this particular instance just works so well. It's so much more compelling to consider Doc's history and a tiny forgotten town in the middle of nowhere when you see it happening to actual people. Heck, even just on a technical level, having humans makes it a lot easier for them to emote and express things subtly as opposed to something as rigid as a car chassis.
So if I haven't made it obvious enough, this is absolutely terrific, and it makes me so much more engaged in a movie that I'd always kinda brushed off as mid-tier
I’ve been saying for a while that if some “bad” animated kids movies were live action, they would’ve done way better marketed towards adults.

Honestly, this movie would have been pretty good as just a regular racing film with human characters as opposed to cars. It could have still been animated just the same, then being cars kinda doesn’t add to the story, only some background gags and details

I always imagine Doc Hudson with a cane, given the injuries he might've received after the wreck during the race in 1954. Not to mention glasses, not just reading glasses when he's doing his job.
well he was rebuilt and in the movie he’s shown to still have it. So if he had a cane it would be more for show.
@CharizardMaster69 Right. I would imagine that he worked his way through therapy so much that he wouldn't need a cane. He did it all so he could come back better than ever... which was all for naught.
I could see him needing one in his old age because of the injury. Him saying he was put back together I think would imply the human version of the character made a full recovery, but it's not uncommon for previously injured body parts to suffer more from age than the rest of the body. Like one might recover fully from a broken hip in their 30's, but that same hip would be more likely to have problems again later down the line.
After the accident in 1954 he went to japan. It didnt get better there.
Well now I imagine him looking exactly like House MD. The characters arent even that different, grumpy, injured and skilled.

I like how even though McQueen is supposed to be “The Jerk in Need of Character Development” it’s only when people are giving him a hard time. Otherwise, he’s a pretty easygoing guy who can be something of an adorable fanboy.
I haven't watched this movie in years, but it is nice that below his ego, his pride as a racer and his desperation to gain fame, there's just a racing nerd. Lightning McQueen just wants to go fast

It makes sense that McQueen is pretty egotistical at the beginning if you think about it, not only does he earn a _very_ generous living doing what he loves, he's also one of the bests of his generation and he knows it.
I think most people would let it go to their heads, honestly.

That movie already exists and it’s called Doc Hollywood
Its a solid story filtered for kids. Most pixar films are. They tackle meaningful topics with a childlike imagination. Toy Story tackles themes like fitting in, growing up, and finding your purpose in the world. Up tackles loss and acceptance. Incredibles tackles trying to find your place in a world that doesn't understand you. Encanto is a story of familial trauma. While on the flip side, Coco is about the importance of family. All of these stories are solid inclusions, and some of the best Pixar has made.

Only tweak I'd give, since this is an AU with humans instead of cars, is have Doc look younger in the newspaper clipping. Though that might affect his appearance given cars don't age like humans. But IDK, minor nitpick. Still a great little animatic, I hope to see more of the movie done in this style
Already I can say you've improved since the shoulders on the characters from the Doc's Past don't look too square, or too broad.

Okay very funny thing: when I rewatched cars once randomly in high school-yes high school don’t ask why-it dawned on me the entire plot is just a basic live action car racer movie but told by cars and I felt stupid it took me that long to realize, but weirdly despite how more charming the movie is for being about cars a human AU works well with that in mind. (Since it was probably the intention of what they were taking jabs at lol) but that tangent aside, love these designs! I would definitely watch a car show like this unironically if it was real.
It works well because a few movies already use this as a storyline, including a Disney channel movie about box car derbies. The only thing new that Pixar did was "what if cars were sentient and already used this tried and true formula?" It's a proven plot that works and one that Disney as a brand has used a few times over the years, but not so recently that when Cars came out, the target audience would have remembered it being used recently.
Not exactly genius and plays it very safe. Maybe too safe.
