When you think you've seen em all Kaplan pull this out the bag my guy
Thanks 😊 Grant!
I love the unlimited ingenuity that was around during the 70s ; two stroke street bikes, 6 cylinder bikes, rotary, suspension innovations. This Rokon is a great example of what was happening back then.
I had one of these “back in the day.” NEVER should have sold it. Loved that bike. 👍🏻
Fun fact. I bought a BMW from Pete cycle in Dublin New Hampshire back in the 1980s. He formally worked with Rocon and helped develop the original prototype for this bike. He used a Yamaha 360 frame and the snowmobile engine. He had a falling out with them and ended up taking the frame and planting it in the ground and using it as a planter at his BMW dealership.
Just saw a 76 Rokon at this year’s Peace Pipe Enduro in Greenville, Ohio. Made it all 77 miles. Truly a cool bike.
I remember seeing one of these in the New England Trail Rider magazine when I was a kid. The article was called the Rhode Island Rock Gardens a guy on one of these was coming through about a foot-and-a-half of black mud with boulders sticking well above the mud. These bikes are beasts.👍
That bike is cool in a different way. I've never seen one in person. I like it.
Those wheels are cool as hell. They give off a BMX vibe.
Wow! That's a blast from the past!
Looks like it does 85mph standing still!
Sachs motors are very high quality, interesting bike, thank you for showing it😊
I just love the stuff that you bring on to this channel - here I can see (and hear!) motorcycles that I never even knew that existed - thank you Sir! Keep them coming! Cheers from Israel - my name is Dan Kaplan, BTW 😂
Hello Brother Dan!!
Remember watching their red white and blue ice racing bikes race at boston gardens around 76 or so. I Was 11 and thought the mag wheels were cool. Miss that sound.
Looks cool kap
God bless America 🇺🇸
Thanks Ken a beast to hand crank. Cheers
I want a rokon badly... they are very cool units..
Ah, Sachs, good engines!
Had that on my vintage moped, could do a cylinder/piston swap in less than 15 minutes on it.
Was very easy to maintain.
I had never heard of Rokon Motorcycles before I started watching your channel. I love the way they look, the fact that they can float, and the unusual fact that you start them, by pull starting them. I don't know of any other motorcycles that you have to pull start them, the way you would do with a lawnmower to start them up.
New Hampshire born and bred!
Never seen one before. Their innovation speaks volumes (& God bless Made in America)! We've had a few Rokons over the years (2X2's), but not the enduros.
Cool I guess my brothers friend bought one definitely good in nasty conditions not my cup of tea. I think my brother on his 360cc husqvarna passed him it seemed in warp speed but if there was a massive mud hole it would torque right though it.
Wow never knew they made dirt bikes!!! Let alone automatic!!!!
Every time I see it I think part snowmobile part dirtbike😂
That thing reminds me of a Polaris trail boss on 2 wheels though sounds just like em . Cool machine 😎
Never got to ride one. Beautiful condition.
That thing is as close to being a motorcycle with not being a real motorcycle sounds and moves pretty good for what it's.
Never new rokon made a standard motorcycle auto apart that is always cool to learn about a motorcycle I don’t no about
ROCKON LIKE A ROCK 👍👍
My dream bike
Ja, Sound Like Sachs ...i Love it ! ....i had a 125 ccm Sachs KTM GS , a Sachs DKW 250 GS with 7 Gears , from 78 ....and now also for all Days Hercules Sachs Enduro 50 ccm ....only 70 kg. And much Fun....
No shifting. Cool bike. Sounds like a Snowmachine!
Bikes n beards 👀
Love it 💪
reminds me of rokon don kuldalski out of florida n 1970's a lake sugar tree.
Cool bike.
A pull start bike. I know it was or is common on 4 wheelers but I've never seen one on a bike. Wow.
Certainly not Moto Cross Grade, with it being an Automatic and all, but definitely impressive in it's own right, those are Very rare bikes the Rokon RT 340's, if im not mistaken they were only built for 2 years 1975 & 1976, and only like less than 400 of them ever made,
Cool bike Though,
🤔😎🇺🇸👍 !
Actually one of these got the whole shot at the rookie Carmichael Supercross vintage race in Daytona this year and won the race
Killer piece that thing looks like it will go just about anywhere.and get there pretty quick.
Faster then you think , in the 1970's the MX version which was basically this bike with no lights was always first at the first corner
@@jerrygriffin7629 what I literally said quick
I had one
Bad ass🤟🇺🇸
Удивил это 100% ☮️🗺☮️
01:33 I thought the driver was in on it and they were gonna do a stunt like ride the bike up the steps of the bus. I need coffee.
Stupid question of the day.. Why did they not continue to make dirt bike wheels like that? No more truing wheels seems great.
This one is better than new ones! The new ones only got like 9 hp! what did this bike end up going for ?
What's the top speed and will it shift or is it like a torque converter like a minibike or go kart
love the wheel color! what's it called?
auto clutch,mag wheels,pullstart. Rare tech.🤔
👍🏻🙏🏻😀
I never knew they made rear wheel, power bikes I always thought they were two wheel powered bikes nice looking bike though
Only one correction to make, continuously variable transmission CVT. I guess automatic transmission is the easy way to say it.
It is a torque converter , just like a snowmobile
@@jerrygriffin7629 primary and secondary clutches expand and contact to change gear ratio making it a CVT just like snowmobile. Torque converter is part of an automobile automatic transmission. It uses rotational force to apply hydraulic pressure to clutch plates
wow now thats a rare one !? ;- ()
Its got a doobie roller on the handlebars😂😂
were those discs painted? lolll
No
Poor compression braking in those. On the brakes way more than a normal dirt bike. Maybe that’s why they had discs.
Excelente canal siempre con las mejores motos, saludos 🇦🇷!!
Wow! That's a blast from the past!
