ESPN used to do such a great job with hockey. Top notch video quality for the time and great analysts...and of course Gary Thorne's powerful voice and Clement providing commentary.
31:48 may have actually been the pivotal point in this entire series that will never get discussed on TV. Stevens gets banged and roughed up, helmet taken off, out of frustration hits Ciccarelli and takes a penalty. You can tell how angry Stevens was after that play & his vengeance was brewing hard. Later in the game he gives one of the hardest hits in NHL history on Kozlov.. knocks a key scorer out of the game (and was a non-factor in games 3 & 4 due to the hit aftermath) and his NJ teammates rallied from that.
I remember watching this at a relative's house. It was the first Stanley Cup Finals game I ever watched. And it was a big talking point after the game if the refs should have stopped play after Coffey got hurt on the game winning goal.
Bowman cleaned house that summer after the final. Goodbye Dino, Burr, Coffey, Shepard etc, Hello Russian 5, Shanahan and Stanley Cups. Sometimes you have to lose bitterly to find a better way to have a sweet win.
This is useful if you wish to coach interference, holding, hooking...clutching...Knocking nets off. The Devils didn't play hockey...it was just cheating until they got enough goals then they tackled you the rest of the game. It's interesting to watch it now and see how bad it was.
Bro, this game is from 30 years ago... Like what... This was NORMAL for ALL teams back then.. This is how hockey was played. It was a rough and dirty game. You think the Devils were the only team that did things like that? I can tell you must be very young. If you want to coach people on an era of Hockey that people actually watched, this would be it.. There is a reason Hockey and Basketball are dying and have such poor ratings, in a time when everyone can watch the games with a flick of their finger. Back in 1995, there were a lot of people that didnt even have TV's let alone cable, yet rating back then were much higher.
Your profile picture tells the entire story.. You were not even born when these games were played.. Hence why you have no clue what you are talking about.

Bruh, N.J. cheated this whole game, and got away with it this whole game..
Gawd....fans think teams ALWAYS 'cheat' nowadays. How exactly is a team supposed to win that's acceptable enough nowadays??
