At first, I felt that removing ash as the main character would be a nice change, maybe even necessary. But after seeing all the things that people have done to mourn him and give their final goodbyes, who am I not to feel a little sad too. See you, Ash. It’s been a good run. You built the foundation for so many childhoods, and it’s hard to see you go.

For me I think removing ash would be a nice change but would never feel right, because I find ash, pikachu and team rocket were an anchor through all the changes in friends and Pokémon and regions and whatever else. They’re something you could count on in every episode of Pokémon, no matter where, when, what or who, they would always be there. So having them be gone at least for me feels like I’m slowing losing my way in a large world of random wacky characters, no idea where I am or who’s who (or what’s what)

Props to them for being almost literal guardians for ash on his journey to everywhere and anywhere
They are the adults who have been the most consistently present in his life throughout his journey. Which is kind of sad if you think about it.
Plus they gave free exp to the main character’s pokemon and literally helped two (or more, idk) dittos fix their problems with their face.
I would have never thought Ash would stop being the protagonist in Pokémon. I thought he would see everything in pokémon and the series would have ended, but it is sad seeing the same kid finally achieve the dream that he worked so hard for and not be in the next season. Not even the iconic mascot of Pokémon would be in the next season. That is the reason why I am crying both tears of joy and sadness. Happy to see Ash reaching his dream, but sad he is ending his journey. I maybe not speak for all pokémon fans, but I want to say thank you for keeping us smiling, laughing, having a great time, and not giving up on your dreams. We will miss you Ash from Pallet town.

I thought ash will be still finding more pokemon as to know more about them with his friends or partner 😭. They grow up to fast it like in the flash of light.

@PackRunnerZilla Ash probably was most of anime fans' lives. I cried for 3 days because I looked up to him as a role model. Wish he made a cameo in the future in the new show, out of nostalgia, and warm up our hearts.
I hope Team Rocket get their own good ending.
It's a silly little head cannon, but I hope Jessie goes back to med school and officially becomes a Pokémon nurse. James can use his inheritance to build a Pokémon sanctuary that doubles as a home for kids with poor family life. And Meowth can become a language/speech teacher as well as help with communication between Pokémon and their trainers. They stay together as a family and fulfill the "Team Rocket Motto" in their own way

I was thinking Jessie would use her attitude and leadership to become a politician/model/motivational speaker, James would become a Pokemon doctor (maybe partnering with Dr. Brock) and Meowth would teach other Pokemon to speak as well as write autobiographies about his life. After all, he taught himself to speak English. Very few other Pokemon can do that.

I just hope the lore can get somewhat consistent now. But in all seriousness I'll never forget ash and his adventures, I was raised by his morals and attitude. A very inspirational character for sure, a toast to the new characters! 🍻 May they live up to his legacy and for generations to come!

@@MultiFanGrl same. Those 3 had so many emotional and touching moments of character growth, while ash mostly stayed the same and Pikachu started becoming less and less interesting and had his chub removed, but the trio grew and learned and became better people despite their misguided profession.

@@RAC00NFANGIRL Yeah, that's been my personal theory for awhile. At the beginning they were really trying to steal Pikachu, but after a certain point it just became an excuse to keep hanging out with Ash and Co.

Also, truth is, these guys are the reason Pikachu was always OP, they fought on a daily basis, even when Pika got "soft reset" at the beginning of a new season, these guys were always there to bring get Ash' team back in top form. I mean, they even got part time jobs in the leagues just to see Ash compete!

Knowing that Ash is achieving his lifelong dream after 25 years is not the reason I'm being brought to tears. Pokemon as a whole has helped me through some difficult times in my life, like when things got complicated at home and my dad had to take custody of me. I couldn't count how many times I cried myself to sleep after that but one thing that brought comfort to me was the Pokemon. I remember tuning in to see Ash and his friends going many amazing adventures, I welcome whatever comes next for the anime but Ash will always be my favorite.

All I can say is that I only hope that the next character they introduce will bring just as much joy and magic to the kids growing up with Pokemon today as it did for us when we were young. I would say so since it seems the anime's stories and writing have been getting better and better over the years.

I love Team Rocket and this just sealed it for me. This just looks like something they would definitely do.
And Jessie, James, and Meowth all have very sad fates.
One lost her mother and wanted to become a nurse, but couldn't even though she had all the tasks of a loving mother.
A kind and not so kind nobleman who ran away from his sadistic wife.
And a pokémon who through pain learned to speak, which is almost unrealistic for a pokémon. Meowth is the only Pokémon in my memory that can communicate in human language without error.
They've all found each other, and they want a happy ending too. They've suffered a lot.
Man I hope we get cameos of these guys occasionally throughout the next installments, as it would show they aren't truly gone, just not the main focus anymore.
I actually love that team rocket of all people go through a consistent character arc throughout the entire show.

Team Rocket has canonically seen past the 4th wall in many movies and even the anime itself. If anyone's gonna be aware that this has been going on for 25 years (and still have the giant hearts to be sad it's ending) it'll be them.

I haven’t seen the anime since xy so I don’t know if it’s already happened, but i truly hope jesse and james defect from team rocket and just live happy lives. I always loved their “good people hanging out with the wrong crowd” characters, and their support of ash and his friends when the situation needed it.
The only people who stuck by Ash’s side for his entire journey. We’ll miss them, I’m sure of it.

But there is a possibility Giovani at some point met ash’s father since some of the lines he’s said were suspicious of a person talking in past tense about someone. I'll never be ready for the day when these characters are officially gone. Team Rocket were the hypercarry villains of literally the whole series so far, almost up until around Master Journeys. They were part of my childhood, one of the best parts I will never forget.

When I was younger, I would always watch Pokémon, It was my favorite show and I know many other people can agree with me. These characters were so enjoyable to see and while it’s sad to see them go, it was nice to see them throughout the years and seeing the adventures they go on, I’m gonna miss them so much. This animation is absolutely beautiful, I love the emotion here and this honestly made me cry, this really feels like an official final episode of the series, I will always love these characters. Anyways very nice art as always and goodbye Ash, Pikachu and Team Rocket, we will never forget them ✨

You know it's serious when the Characters start to realize their end of their era.
When you think about it, Team Rocket was the real heroes all along. Unlike Ash and his companions, they never had the chance to succeed, every single day they're brutally beaten down by a universe that works against them. But despite this, every episode they get back up and try again, and again ,and again. No matter how impossible it was for them to get a win, they always keep going and never giving up. Team Rocket is the type of people we should all aspire to be.

Even though I don’t know a lot about the Pokémon lore, I can’t believe team rocket is gone. They were definitely my favorite part about Pokémon and I will never forget the joy they gave me when I did take the time to watch an episode of this generation long ride. Beautiful animation!

Ash inevitably had to leave the anime at some point but it’s impossible not to feel sad and/or nostalgic. The new protagonists will never live up to Ash but we can all hope that the anime will still be as good as it has been for the past decades. Since the gen9 starter introductions were given by Team Rocket, maybe they have a chance of returning or making a cameo in one way or another? Whatever happens, I’ll miss them 😢

Ash will always have a special place in my heart. Watching Ash grow up from being the loser nobody thought would go big at all in his life, to becoming the kid that he is now, just shows us how far character development can actually go. The Indigo League on Netflix was the thing that got me into Pokémon in the first place. Really wouldn’t be here without Ash. For a while, I have been thinking that it was probably Ash’s time and that it would probably be for the best soon because of how much they’ve changed his personality over the years (not in the character development way, sun/moon Ash was a little bit of a child while Indigo League felt super relatable, just my opinion, if you liked him, that’s chill as well), but that doesn’t change the fact that I’ll miss him. We’ll all miss him I think.

As much as I hate how much the trio stole the spotlight of the Team Rocket organization as a whole, I do have to commemorate that they're the only characters to have stayed on Ash's adventures whenever his group changed with each series.

I have been watching pokemon since i was a baby, i grew with them. When ash journey is finished next year, i'll be 25. Time flies but i'll never forget them. Thank you mom for making me watch pokemon when i was a baby. 24 years later, i'm still a fan. And thank you pokemon 😁

i haven't watched pokemon for about 4 or so generations, and yet, when i heard ash's journey was coming to an end my heart sank, things will never be the same again, but at least we got to see him finally win the league

The implication that Team Rocket understands what's going on while Ash seems out of the loop is very on brand for them.
I get the feeling these guys are gonna make a cameo early in the new series. They’ll be running some kind of shop in the new protagonist’s first visited town. Maybe Meowth evolved or is a father now. Maybe Jesse and James got married. That’s my prediction.
