    • @bakkels
      @bakkels 2 месяца назад +15

      I think he's the poster boy because because he was the first one, the first guitar rock star. A lot of subsequent guitarists could therefor be accused of trying to copy an image, but not Keith. Because he was the original. (One of them of course, but certainly the most iconic one, image-wise)

    This is a great time capsule not only for Keith, but the politics of the time. His lines about performing, and not only recording, apply today in 2024. He is still a performer.
    If you can? Do it.
    One thing he has never been in spite of his money and fame is full of crap.
    He has always been a real deal rock n' roller, and doesn't take BS from anybody, including the interviewer. The Expensive Winos were a good band, hence this promo interview.
    Unlike many rock stars, he was not " full of himself ".
    I'm getting ready to do gigs again because there is nothing like live performances.
    This interview inspired me, as I've performed for decades, and still can.

      Taylor called Jagger and not Keith, to anounce he had to leave and Mick asked him to take a break and come back if he want it. Ron was already in the place jamming with Keith. The credit matter is mostly about : Sway, Winter, Till the next goodby, Moonlighmile, all Jagget/Taylor songs. Keith wasn't even in the studio much too stoned. But he never regret to steal thoses credits. My opinion is that Jagger couldn't broke with him without killing the band, only my deduction. I love kieth. As a junkie who also stopped (youre never recovered, in my opinion, you just stop). I love how his down to earth serious and articulate personality came back. I get a kick out of his 70s interviews, still articulate but in a warm cloud of sedation. I was there for 5 years myself. Him and Ozzy. People like to rag on them for their years of inebriation. But struggling with substances while still holding on..maintaining and somehow functioning, is like driving a car while fighting Satan for the wheel. And I always respect someone who eventally kicks the devil out..or at least gets him to the back seat and regains control.

      I'm on my late wife account, but I had a 1952 Telly that Keith wanted really bad. I had given it to a well known guitar tech to do a little bit of work ... and he sent a picture to him and a recording of it as well. It was an early one, and apparently it had a pick up from a lap Steel, which was slightly different, then the usual bridge pick up. It gave it a really interesting growl... not the usual twang. Keith, I believe uses a humbucker on his, whereas this one sounded like a humbucker, but was actually the oddball single coils that sometimes came stock. It was tempting because it was Keith! But I don't think I was even gonna get to meet him... i horse treated my way to a
      G&L Broadcaster and some 70's, strats. Who knows... he might have gotten that Telly in the end!

      @teleguy5699 i wasn't that much of a fan. Now I probably would keep it. But I was a playing musician and I wanted guitars that I liked to play. It really wasn't that hard... i like strats. I have a 70s strat, scalloped frets, line buffer, piezoelectric ghost saddles, stock singles on the neck and middle, and a homade lipstick tube humbucker on the bridge. I looked around for a humbucker that would play well with the strat singles, then I remembered the tubes I had found long ago. I remembered they were weaker output than a strat, and a little thin, so i wired them as humbucker and tried it. It had the perfect blend with the strat pickups. Since I did that I see that they now have them for sale! I don't think they sound the same, but it's a good idea.

      @@karijohartmann2649 I hear what you saying. You keep, especially back 50 years ago, the instruments that help you play. There wasn't a lot of nostalgia like there is today for old instruments. That's why some could be had for so cheap, even by 70's standards.

    Keith is really beloved family man, with a loving family, who just happen to be one of the greatest creative guitar players in the best Rockand Roll band in the world. I live in Toronto and remember his drug bust that almost put him in jail. Due to some unusual circumstances and a couple of benefit concerts he survived the ordeal and because of this ordeal, it started him on the road to recovery. This ordeal and some other reasons the Stones became fond of Toronto from then on to this day.

    I've long thought he's highly intelligent. It's possible that music has contributed to being lateral in his thinking. His lyrics show his genuine emotions. And he's always answered questions very honestly. There's no bullshit here because he doesn't like fakeness.
