Been a fan since 1967. This interview was 1980 ( he was born in Dec 1943) amazing 43 years after this interview they are still touring and have a new album. I remember back in 1980 when everyone said they re too old and should stop. Throw that back in their faces boys. Rock on to the end.
The heroin in France during the 70s was probably the highest quality on the planet at that time. The French connection is a classic movie. So cool that Keith made it through those dark years. Same for jimmy page
this is by far the most important interview keith richards ever gave, he´s been 100 percent himself and makes wonder how incredible survive so many decades the way he did, but is very, very crucial emphasize it for a limited number of people in the world. The huge majority dies soon if they live this life style.
This was those good years of Richards. Clean from drugs (hard drugs that is) now gaining his responsibilities back within the band that were willingly handed over to Jagger because of the incapabilities of hard drug use daily.
Maybe we have Toronto the boring to thank for the fact that we had a Keith going forward and still have. (I can slap Toronto silly on this one, because I am a long time Torontonian.)
But you know Toronto got really good because of the 350,000 Montrealers that moved there in 1977 after the PQ won in Quebec. A third of my high school in Montreal moved to Oakville and Mississauga they’re parents worked for the Bank of Montreal Sunlife and other companies that moved their head offices down the 401. It seems nuts thinking back to that now. Any Toronto’s a great city. I used to be boring.
He means he was SENTENCED to a year's imprisonment. Following a very influential article in The Times newspaper 'Who breaks a Butterfly on a Stone' there was an appeal and Richards and Jagger were released from custody.
They have to be one of the longest running transient Vegas acts in history. Written one "new song"in nearly half a century and that's a ripoff of The Specials' Ghost Town. Despite the group's fossilization, great admiration still for the larger-than-life Keith though.
The theme from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, with lyrics "If it takes forever I will wait for you, for a thousand summers I will wait for you." Not exactly Stones material but indeed lovely.
@@lyudmila2882 Thank you!!....I don't suppose you know who is playing this particular version of it?.....it has a quicker tempo than the soundtrack or any of the many cover versions I've found.
Hard to say if he’s telling the truth or not re the heroin.plus I read it wasn’t just Keef other guys in the band at least tried it. I heard Woodie is the coke guy……. I’m just saying what’ve read back in the day. I’m sure now in the 2024 they ROCK STILL HARD AF! SOBER) ❤❤❤👍👍👍🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Or 1981. It’s during the Still Life tour for Tattoo You.
One of the greatest guitarist and PERSONALITIES in rock history. Simply iconic in every sense.

They went onto to play another 40 years and still haven't broken up. Eternal
Interviews - on RUclips-from their tour in Australia, Feb' '73...some of my fav's. Very candid, upfront.

I agree. This is the most crucial interview in the history of mankind. Also this is the year Keith turned 100.
His autobiography is very interesting and well written, too.
Agreed. And, he isn’t cracking one liners every 30 seconds.
Can I please be reincarnated as Keith Richard in my next life? Pretty Please!
had the same thought and same wish
No
Well, Keith is going to be still alive in your next life...so what do you suppose youll do?
Get in line ....it's a long one 😂
Hmm you’re gonna have to wait. My man’s gonna be alive for at least another 70 years 😭😭😭
Keith has the best guitar chop body rhythm, in my opinion.
DownHill Phil And that ain’t chopped liver, baby!!

What a Personality !
Great interview🤘🏻
'A very well paid hobby'
Keith est beau, gentil, talentueux et humble, je le trouve adorable
It was as Keith said that: " The Stones are amazing anything"!. I mean , "So amazing thing" . Ok.
One day I love to have a drink with this guy
What a great musician
Jesus, what does that big idjit Jagger look like in those red and white stripey trousers
It's the crotch bit for me,are stripes supposed to make it look bigger🤣🤣😭😭..

As a Montrealer with loads of family and friends in eastern and southern Ontario, I agree 100% 😎

Their parents……
I realise now, that Keith Richards is actully cat with 7 lifes. Nothing less than that.
ALOHA KEEP♥️🙏🏻🌈⚜️FOR SAVING YOUR OWN LIFE......YOU WILL BE FOREVER LOVED DEARLY 🍀♥️🌈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow, when Keef used to not giggle and laugh half of the interview.
'Various substances were found'. 😂
Here again he looks like he could play Dracula, and he only comes out at night? And that myth of him having his blood changed . . .
the blind are probably the best sort of people to play to
Seems to work out that way🍸
Yeah
At 6:03 it says "He was jailed for a year, but released after an appeal" - so misleading! He never served time, the sentence was lifted. See his book.
"life" great read
He did stay in a few nights I believe, things worked better then so the appeal hearing was arranged very quickly.

6:22 What the hell am I looking at
He was arrested in Canada in 1977 for possession of heroin. He was facing a long jail term
That anonymous person? The 8th Beatle perhaps?
Can anyone ID the very pretty music at the start of this clip?

@@jhassett2 Sorry, that one's beyond me. It was VERY popular way back then, and you may find it eventually.
What year please?
00:52 billboard says 1982. Reporter says Keith is 37 in this interview
oh these edgy interviewers lol
DARTFORD, not Deptford ffs

Heroin been a bad problem a long long time!!

Is there a ‘good’ problem?

Been a stones fan since day
One .have been a great part of my life .keep up the great work and thanks for everything.
He was always uneven live but could bring it in the studio it seems to me.
Wow! Look at how beautifully White Paris, France 🇫🇷 used to be?
Another racist...can't seem to escape them.
