    Hey sweetheart you were the 1st hairdresser in all of these RUclips videos that was honest and said exactly how long that takes cause clients don't realize how long that really takes to do they think it's gonna be done in an hour or 2 you were the 1st one to say how long it really takes it look beautiful

    Hey Jamie, I quite often take 2 hours for balayage application and sometimes feel bad about keeping the client for longer but would rather take my time to get a awesome result rather than rushing and being more concerned about timing. Hearing you say you took 5 hours from start to finish made me feel so much better about how I do my clients, I've always believed the end result is everything!

      Laura Robinson hi Laura, i am glad to know that. I do have the same feeling as you do. To be honest, i believe a proper balayage or foilayage need at least 3.5-5hrs depends on the hair’s thickness and length. You can check out my work from my instagram winnihairstylist. most of my work were about 4 hrs.

    Its nice seeing someone with thick coarse hair in your videos... When I do a client's hair its never like a client with medium to thin hair... I am so glad I am not the only one that it takes over 5+ hours... Love the outcome... this is an older video, but still... great turn out.

    I really appreciate the mention of timing; I'm a very new stylist so of course I'm slow but it has been one of my biggest insecurities when clients come in for big color projects and act like it's crazy that application just takes that long sometimes

    Just gorgeous, thank you again for another amazing video. Back when I was at cosmo school I never had set balayage classes that were part of our hair dressing certificates. They have since made them a part of the cosmo courses in Australia so I was told. So you have to learn it now I’m pretty sure which is good. I just love the fact that kind generous hair dressers like yourself help us other HDs etc out by posting your amazing hair vids. Plus your so bubbly and fun to watch, never a dull moment at all! A big fat thumbs up from me as always 😁

    Hey thanks for the helpful techniques. Just an FYI, I noticed you use shades EQ to tone and I learned with that line, the color stops working if it’s overworked. You are supposed to stir it but not shake it and also never work it into the hair to the point that is suds. Suds=less deposit. This was a game changer for me. My tones are so much better since learning this from the redken reps. So I thought I would share the knowledge. Hope it helps. :)

    I love your videos so much!!! Great content. I can tell you are a natural teacher. I love the voice you use when you’re in your color area, telling us what you’re doing. Otherwise, it seems like you’re trying to be loud for us to hear. I don’t think it’s needed though. It’s so loud at the very beginning. I hope this is helpful rather then hurtful. That’s def not my intention

    Hi jamie i love you and your hair transformation but can i ask you a favor? Online everyone use redken to tone the hair but here in my country is so so difficoult and expensive and i wanna ask if u can use Wella color touch toners i wanna know from u if they are beautiful or not and how to use it

    • @JamieDana
      @JamieDana  6 лет назад

      Thanks for watching my videos! And I love the suggestion! However, I typically only use Redken or Goldwell to tone because those are the brands I know. I've heard great things about Wella Color Touch, I just haven't used them before! I know that Justin Anderson uses them occasionally, so check out his channel!

    OK so I'm with you up until 10 minutes, which is where I am now. I see you take that pink brush and dip it in something in order to blend out the hair. Is it water? I watched two more times and you said it was a dry brush so maybe you were removing some of the bleach with a towel or something. I'll figure it out. I love your idea of putting conditioner as a defusing agent. Thanks so much for sharing. I watched it to the end and it looks great!

    Just curious if theres a difference to using a separate foil on top versus folding the one up? Is that just because the hairs so long the foil doesnt reach or is there a special reason?
    Find your techniques so easy to follow, you make a great teacher.

    • @slimshayd25
      @slimshayd25 5 лет назад

      I think it's because if you fold it up then the lightener on the ends would most likely be touching the hair at the top that you work so hard on blending nicely (:

    Is using the conditioner at roots to help melt or blend?

    You said you kept the foils for 2 h at least (and you used 30 volume), I thought we should to not keep the foils more than 45 minutes because we can damage the hair. There is a limited time for keeping the foils?

    I have a question, hopefully I'm not duplicating it. Should we use toner at the same level the hair lifted to? Meaning she lifted to a level 9 and you tuned with a level 9. I hope I make since 🤔 TIA!

      @JamieDana  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Shaunda -- That is not necessary! The amount of pigment in the tube is based on the level (so a level 9 will have less pigment than a level 3). You want to tone based on how much you want to correct. Thanks so much for watching!

    Love this . Thanks for sharing. What order would you do the hair if you have to retouch gray roots and balayage the rest of the hair? Im always afraid the dark color would ruin the highlight

    • @JamieDana
      @JamieDana  5 лет назад +1

      I usually start with the base color although if you are afraid of that happening, you can always let the base color process first, rinse, dry and then bayalage although it will take longer!

    so i have a quick question. I did a foilayage technique on my friend virgin hair but didn't blonde the tips, and it obviously came out more highlighted (great learning experience)...i'm going to do it again and do the tips this time. my questions are.... when you split the middle section in half...and did the tips on a portion of it....are you doing that for all of the middle pieces all the way until the top? ALSO are you hitting the tips of side pieces that are left out? thank you!! i love watching your videos and watching your techniques! i never learned how to do balayges in school

    • @JamieDana
      @JamieDana  6 лет назад

      Hey Alison, thanks for watching! It depends on how much blonding you want but I will blonde the tips if the hair is healthy enough for it and that is her desired goal!

    If hair is fine should you not tease alot? Is Biology raw conditioner good for blending agent? I love all your videos I have learned alot of techniques from you.

    • @JamieDana
      @JamieDana  5 лет назад

      That would be a great blending agent! As far as the density of the hair, it would still be fine but you would tease less on thinner hair.

    Excellent! Just gorgeous! If I order foils and brushes (or any salon products) from Amazon, I won’t get our “professional cost”. Do you know if there is a provision for that?

    • @JamieDana
      @JamieDana  5 лет назад

      I personally wouldn't recommend professional color or developers bought off amazon. So sorry to disappoint!

      Absolutely! I was inquiring specifically about the foils. Apparently the Framar Rose all day was a limited collection. I was trying to figure out where to buy buy/find them? They seem to be only available on Amazon at retail cost😕
