Same man!, I was like, is that a reaper sound? I swear if they are doing some shit spinoff or something, then I saw N7 Liara, and Liara, I lost it, I screamed, then cried.
When you play 'Dragon Age' you will encounter a number of familiar voices throughout the series. Some are NPCs, some are companions, some are even the player characters. In Dragon Age: Origins you are a silent protagonist, but in Dragon II the female player character is Jo Wyatt, the voice of Ciri from Witcher 3. And in Dragon Age Inquisition one of the voices is Alix Wilton-Regan aka Samantha Traynor from ME3.

The audio during the trailer is essentially snippets of galactic history beginning with First Contact. Ending with audio of the war, ship debris, damaged relays, and a planet littered with the bodies of dead Reapers.
People lost their s**t when this trailer came out. It was totally unexpected and was the last World Premiere at the end of a long Game Awards show. Most of the people/RUclipsrs who were watching the awards were tired, sleepy & just wanted the show to end. And then this hit. BOOM!! 💥
Since no one knew what this trailer was going to be when they recorded it, since it was a mystery trailer, I love going and watching people's reactions to it and seeing when they realize it's Mass Effect. A lot more than you'd think need the N7 plate to put it together, but I love watching the PTSD kick in with the reaper sound. It's so iconic.

My guess would be that Destroy ends up being the Canon ending. But the green highlights were visual representation, not meant to be literally how they'd all look with the synthesis ending.
I always thought about this being Shepard does the destroy ending then gets mass accelerated out of Earth space onto a random planet and the first bit of the game is either Liara searching or you trying to survive as your Shepard from 3. I'd be happy with either

My guess is that Destroy was always intended to be the canon ending if Mass Effect were to ever continue in the Milky Way. It just works too well with the overall story. It's what Shepard, Anderson, and Hackett were all working toward throughout Mass Effect 3. Unfortunately, BioWare has not been doing well lately. 50 people were laid off from the studio last year, and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has had a troubled development cycle. The latest rumor is that the next Mass Effect game won't be out until 2029, which kind of makes sense when you consider that 1) they're still working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, and 2) the latest Mass Effect teaser we got was an absolute nothingburger that didn't tell us anything about the game.
You have to understand that we had no idea it was a Mass Effect teaser until that Reaper sound. At least for me. This was shown I think at the end of The Game Awards? I don't remember but I literally just thought it was another random sci-fi game. I remember screaming like a lunatic when I saw Liara holding that N7 badge. 😭 She's looking for Sheapard (maybe I don't know lol). Also if you're interested there's a more recent teaser shown not too long ago. They're all extremely short and vague lol
Few "fun" facts for you Whimsy and maybe others about this trailer and the another ones from N7 days. 1) The Next Mass Effect will somehow connect "storylines" from ME Trilogy and Andromeda. In first shot, you can se both galaxies next to each other. Also, Mike Gamble, the current Project Director of NME was working on Andromeda, ME2, ME3 and all DLC inbetween as Producer, indirectly confirmed it that they will be somehow tied to one another. 2) The Asari is definitely Liara because of her "eyebrows" and "freckles". But you can also notice three characters behind her. One appears to be salarian on the left and on the right it looks like Krogan or Turian. Right now I can't remember who might be the one inbetween, but from some other materials released by Bioware as teasers in past years, there was a rumor that maybe, in NME will have three companions with us instead of two. Not confirmed though. 3) A lot of footage and materials suggest that we will be again in Milky Way Galaxy and as far as we all can see, it's confirmed that synthesis ending will not be "canon", as well as the control because of the dead Reapers we see in snow, but Bioware confirmed neither of the endings as canon and there is also a rumor, that Bioware will somehow? tie all the 3 endings to one "new" ending that will be canon for NME, although that is pure speculation right now and wasn't confirmed by anything. 4) In teasers from N7 2023, we can see who is maybe the next N7 protagonist/antagonist, but also it confirms that the geth are somehow alive. Also on promo poster/picture on N7 Day 2023 we see all the races from Milky Way plus with geth and also angara from Andromeda in same one picture, which resembles Purgatory or Afterlife club. That confirmes the "merging" of Andromeda and Milky Way. How it's not sure right now. There is speculations of "time dilations", something with dark energy plot which was mentioned in ME2 and was original overall plot for Reapers but was dropped in ME3 for new plot synthetisc vs. organics, or that the races in Milky Way somehow managed to build a new Mass Relay that can connect to Andromeda galaxy, but nothing was confirmed yet. 5) There is also some wild rumors that the NME will release in 2029 which is by all means false. This Next Mass Effect is right now (or atleast in past years) developed by a small team of Bioware/Mass Effect veteran devs lead by Mike Gamble since 2019, which was confirmed by Gamble himself. So right now, the game is in pre-production for approximately 4 - 5 years. And when the Dragon Age Dreadwolf will hopefully finaly release this Fall, the Next Mass Effect will enter full production and I can imagine, the core team has already build atleast small portion of the game. So I personaly would believe that if nothing goes wrong, which could ofcourse, that we could be playing Next Mass Effect in 2026, maybe in Q1 2027. Depends when will the Dreadwolf release and how much work there was already done on NME. There is a lot more info, rumors etc. on the internet/youtube by fans on the NME but I felt atleast this small portion of info could be interesting for you Whimsy and perhaps the others, who is not watching/folowing the info on NME more closely. Found you through Mass Effect, absolutely loved the playthrough! I'll get on to watching your BG3 playthrough once I've completed the game myself. Cannot wait for Dragon Age!! BioWare were at their peak when they made Origins, you'll be falling in love with a whole new group of characters. I can already predict your romances for each game but won't say them out loud to avoid spoilers.
I would count on destroy being the canon ending, one piece of evidence is all the damaged relays and the damaged citadel that is visible in the trailer and another evidence is in Adromeda where they cannot get in contact with the Milky Way.
@@happyslapsgiving5421 no they where only damaged in the destroy ending, and yes Andromeda itself cannot send messages back because it would take forever for it to reach the milky way but there is a plot thread in the game where they noticed that the broadcast of data from the milky way simply stopped and never resumed. That indicates either that the reapers won or that the technology used to communicate was destroyed.
You missed the audio wincing (and chatting) at the beginning, 😂 The trailer would probably hit you different if it had been years since you finished ME3.
@@WhimsyPsyche most people that watched the trailer for the first time hadn't played the series in a long time, (and weren't told it was a mass effect trailer as dozens of people have said). Legendary Edition wasn't even out yet! The radio chatter is riddled with ME specific lore such as Arcturus Station being name dropped. Pretty much no one that I've seen react really picked up on it or remarked about it, I guess the commenter probably was hoping you would.
@@garycannon4644 Totally not true. Whoever said that BioWare confirmed it, made it up. I've see BioWare devs actually comment that the Milky Way and Andromeda are intentionally in the 5th game. I've seen BioWare devs refer to the game informally as 'Mass Effect 5' (I'm sure it'll have a title not a number). I've seen BioWare devs comment that they had no intention for the 'breath' seen in Destroy to be taken as the 'best' ending but that it was more or an interesting easter egg.
The trailer obviously shows that the DESTROY Ending is the canon to the story. What we all still don't know is what the game is gonna be about. Some have predicted that since it showed Liara finding the N7 helmet piece it means that maybe Shepard somehow survives (which Shepard does if you have enough War Assets) and that Liara and her crew (A random Salarian and what some might think its Tali and Garrus) are trying find Shepard. Some think that after the recent new ME trailer, it means we have a new protagonist that is an N7 soldier. Whenever The New Mass Effect comes out, I hope it's with Shepard. My predicted story/game scenario (from my story): Game starts off with newest 3rd Human Councilor Admiral Hackett saluting everyone that died in the fight against The Reapers. Then announces Shepard's crew that died during Saren, The Collectors and The War. Starting with Members of the crew that died when the Normandy blew and when The Collectors invaded the ship. Then announces the following (cutscene: all members of the crew show their statues int the Citadel) Kaiden Alenko who died to destroy Saren's facility (Shown by Ashley), Mordin Solus as the saviour of the Krogan (shown by Wrex and Grunt), Thane Krios the assassin who died to save the Salarian Councilor (shown by Garrus), Legion who was a Geth that died to bring peace between the Quarians and the Geth (shown by Tali), The First Human Councilor Admiral Anderson who died in the Battle at Earth (shown by Hackett), EDI who unfortunately died during the destruction of The Reapers along with the Geth (shown by Joker) and then The First Human Spectre Commander Shepard who sacrificed her life to destroy The Reapers (shown by Liara who is now bearing Shepard's child). The kidnapper reveal themselves in a hologram and the leader reveals himself and the leader's name is John Shepard (default name), Jane Shepard's twin brother (If anyone played Male Shepard, it swaps around). (Depending on what background story you chose for Shepard: Military, Colonist or Earthborn they all have their own backstory with the twins) John announces that his sister left him to die and wants to destroy the peace she died to bring a reality and shows them his army which are a mixture of new generation Husks and Geth and battleships all made from Reaper technology. And he decides to show Shepards kids and declares war on Shepard. After a while... Shepard is resting and when she wakes up, Liara is right there. Liara and Shepard talk. Liara takes Shepard to a meeting where The Council are discussing what to do next and Shepard arrives. In order to understand everything, they created a machine where it shows a person's memory and in this case, Shepards past. They watched Shepards Last Stand from where she entered The Citadel, to the confrontation with The Illusive Man, Anderson dying, talking to The Catalyst and the choice she made which resulted in her death. Like the "secret" ending where it shows she survives, the memory shows us how she survived. It shows Leviathan appearing out of nowhere, talking to a dead Shepard and then they bring life back into Shepard. They tried to turn off the machine but Shepard's memory was so strong the machine continued to show her past. It showed where she lived, to the birth of her kids: her first born 7-year-old boy named Garex Anderson Shepard (names after Garrus, Wrex and Anderson), her daughter Taliara Mirash Shepard (names after Tali, Liara, Miranda and Ashley) and her baby daughter Edi Shepard (named after EDI). But the memories doesn't show the kids father which raises questions among them and wondering "Who's the father of Shepards kids?" Shepard begs them to give her a ship and asked them not to get involved because it only concerns her and not the galaxy. The council deny her request but Councilor Hacket takes her to her ship but what she doesn't realise was that he was taking her to The Normandy. She enters The Normandy and hears echos of everything that happened from the 3 games along with some "deleted scenes" you didn't hear in the 3 games. Then her crew enter (Garrus, Tali, Liara, Wrex, Grunt, Ashley etc) and all greet her with open arms, Liara shows Shepard their daughter (showing that Shepard now has 4 kids) and her crew vowed to help her find and rescue her kids and thus the crew of The Normandy once again join forces to find and rescue Shepards kids. The games play however it goes... (Romances with Liara) (Garrus and Tali got married, have a home on both Rannoch and Palaven and have kids) (James and Ashley are together) (Steve got remarried) (Wrex has a lot of kids) (Javik opened a Library and started dating an Asari) (Grunt is... Grunt) (Joker can now finally walk normal) (Miranda starting dating) (Samara is... Samara) (If players had Male Shepard romance Miranda, Jack or Ashley, they'll have kids with Male Shep) (Any other romances with Garrus, Tali, Samara, Steve, Kaiden etc won't have kids) Somewhere close to the end: Shepard finds out where John Shepard base of operation is because its where her kids are also at and somewhere she gets hurt pretty bad. They find out that the thermal bullet that penetrated her is stuck inside and is slowly killing her. As Shepard is recovering in the Med Bay, she starts hearing EDI's voice, telling her where to go and at first Shepard thought she was hearing ghosts but EDI but responded saying she never left and she was always in The Normandy. So EDI helps Shepard escape The Normandy and headed to Earth because Earth is where John Shepard has been where he was hiding the whole (depending on background, its where his base is) and as she's arriving she's see's a flashback of where John dies and it shows us that John has been dead the whole time and now makes you wonder "Who and What is the current John Shepard?" The End: Shepard arrives and fight her way in John's base. Somewhere in the base, she finds a room where there's many clones of her brother, meaning that One: Her brother has been dead the whole time. Two: Who has been making of her dead brother? Moving on, she finds and fights her clone brother but her wound gets worse and he shoots her and as he's about to shoot her, someone shoots him and it's another clone of John Shepard. Earlier, Shepard tempered with one of the cloning machines and changed the clones memory from bad to good. New John tries to help and head to a rooftop of the building they're at because its burning and collapsing but there's nowhere to run. Then The Normandy arrives, John get the kids to the ship first and then tries to help Shepard. But John see's that building is about to drop so he saves Shepard but he doesn't because he knows he's not the real John so he stays and dies. Epilogue: The game ends with Shepard once again traveling on The Normandy with her kids and her crew but with a new mission. She has discovered in the base, that someone created clones of her brother which means that someone knew she was alive and her crew are determined to find and expose them. Showing us that Mass Effect is starting a new story.

My hope is that 4 will be set a thousand or so years after 3, and we'll get the chance to choose our species/race like in Dragon Age. Maybe Liara and the surviving krogans will be mentor figures to our character.
No I don't think 4 should be like that. We already got a story which is set nearly 600-650 years later 3...which is andromeda. 4 should be with Shepard. I want to see a good ending with the OG Shepard
Regardless of the trailers, it is different people making the next Mass Effect. The person leading this is really an Andromeda person. They also hired a new writer, Mary DeMarle who was the writer for Deus Ex and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The key people that led the trilogy are gone. But I got my eyes on Dreadwolf. What they do with that will be telling.
@@johnP0908 Yep, and other teasers suggest Geth involvement, and they are only alive in Control/Synthesis. The relay could have been destroyed while the Geth were being repaired(or it’s the relay of The Arrival). It’s not that complicated to write as a story. I understand why you and others have deduced that the Destroy ending is canon - I respect your opinion and think you might be right - but OP wondered if BioWare “came out and confirmed” the theory, and that didn’t happen. There was no official statement or tweet that said “Destroy is canon”, only a few teasers released with fans trying to find clues about what comes next.
If Shepard does return in any future game, Destroy has to be the canon ending, as it's this only ending in which it is possible for them to survive. Shepard's body is completely destroyed in both the Control and Synthesis endings, and there is a secret scene (which Whimsy got in her playthrough) at the end of the Destroy ending if you have go into the final mission with a military score of at least 5000, showing a body in N7 armor jerking and gasping for breath (obviously implied to be Shepard). Personally I prefer the Synthesis ending, as it's the ending that truly solves the problem that the Reapers were created to solve. I never like picking the Destroy ending, as it kills ALL synthetic live, not just the Reapers, so the geth and EDI were killed as well.
Bioware pretty much has to have import options for all the endings (exept refusal and low EMS destory I guess ) in order not to invalidite so many playthroughs and one of the main points of having a RPG with multiple options and endings to begin with.
Destroy is not the canon ending. All ending are equally valid. Many feel the game will be set hundreds of years later. The teaser shows the Andromeda galaxy in the background (intentionally) so we know that 'Mass Effect 5' will connect to both the trilogy and ME Andromeda.
Can't be. The Asari (Liara ?) was climbing up a dead reaper with another dead reaper in the background. Both of which wouldn't be there in that time period.
If you look in the background of that snowy planet, that thing Liara is climbing up a dead reaper, and there is a dead reaper in the background. That leads me to believe Destroy is the canon ending.
Some would say that reaper could be a casualty before the an ending was chosen, but the destroyed relay is a dead giveaway that neither Control/Synthesis made sense. that relay should've been repaired.

Honestly, I think you should play Andromeda. imo, it was a great game, underrated due to the launch state it was in. Not as great as the trilogy, but like i said, imo, still a great Mass Effect game
Destroy ending canon or indoctrination theory ending? I think with indoctrination it is the best choice as it can continue with the war against the reaper. With destroy I don't know with relays destroyed. Maybe a new ennemy. For me if it is destruction ending, the sound of the reaper is a souvenir only
I was very excited when i first saw this, but just so you and people that read this comment don't get your hopes up, it was revealed just a few months ago that this game(even though the trailer came out 3 years ago now) is still in PRE-PRODUCTION! Not only that, but EA recently laid off writers from Bioware. This trailer, along with the newest one, are just to keep buzz going, they most likely still don't even have a plot, nor a way to resolve the ME3 triple ending issue. Also keep in mind that almost everyone who worked at Bioware on the original trilogy no longer work at Bioware. Sadly, this is just more EA being EA. I do hope we get another great Mass Effect in the future, someday. But it most likely won't be for a good long while. ***I really don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, or negative. I feel like my comment kind of comes across that way. I'd just like everyone to be informed, and keep their expectations low. Especially in terms of a release date***
Hello Whimsy! I haven't caught up with your streams in a while but will definitely be there when you try Dragon Age. A few tidbits about ME5 (which is how BioWare refer to it). - There are teasers that were posted during the different N7 days that happened since this teaser was released. They are so short that you can barely post any reaction to them (unless you make one video that has both of them) but here's what we saw: a) hints at the Geth still being around somehow b) mentions of the Andromeda galaxy c) what appears to be a new N7 protagonist (we didn't see the face but the woman we saw didn't look like a soldier) Another thing to note is that there is still no confirmation that there is indeed a canonical ending. People saw this trailer, with the downed Reaper and the N7 armor piece, and assumed it meant that the Destroy ending with Shepard living was canon. It's a possibility but BioWare has not release a sequel with a canonical ending since Baldur's Gate 2 in 2000 and really went out of their way to canonically explain why a character that potentially died in Dragon Age: Origins was still alive in Inquisition. I wouldn't put it past them to find a way to make it work without a canon.
What are you on about? I imported from ME1 to ME2 and then imported again from ME2 to ME3. All my previous choices are reflected because of that. You sure you're watching the right videos? 🤣
Yes, most likely Destroy is canon ending. No way the would be able to account for all endings. Synthethis would be interesting in concept, but I don't see it, how it would work. Control would be interesting in terms of Repear-Shepard being villain, but would be repetition of the trilogy.
After finishing the trilogy myself I could not find another game that I truly enjoyed - until Cyberpunk 2077. Now after DLC and many many fixes it is truly a masterpiece & a wild ride. You should try it again ! (you mentioned you gave it a go at release and were disappointed)
She also posted Starfield only once. There is one other game she also only played once. What they have in common with CP2077 is they are 1st person games. Many gamers only play 3rd person games.
I played BioShock Remastered in its entirety and it's an FPS game. I do like FPS games, Starfield is just not that good and CP2077 was buggy as hell on launch (which is when I posted the video). That is all! I'm open to trying CP again now that it's fixed!

We still don't know anything real about this game, BioWare and Mike Gamble *(the creative director)* are being very cryptic about it. If the Destroy Ending is canon *(considering Liara, in this trailer, doesn't have green glow all over her face like she does in the Synthesis Ending)* and the game takes place hundreds of years the future... Then only Liara and Grunt would be the only remaining members from the old crew. In the ME Universe, Humans are lucky to reach 150, Turians can reach 150 with relative ease and while there's concrete info about the Quarians, their lifespan is estimated between 150 - 180 years. Salarians barely reach 40 😂 Wrex might still be kicking, but he would be extremely old at this point *(he's supposed to be close to or even past the 1000 years threshold by the time of ME3)* and unlike Asari, which are known for dying a couple of years/decades/centuries after turning 1000, there is no info/documentation in the ME Universe about Krogans dying of old age, at all *(Drack from Andromeda is 1400+).*

Unfortunately, I have no faith in Bioware / EA will be able to make a good follow-up game. They nearly destroyed the universe with the ending of ME3. I must admit that it is encouraging to hear that they plan for it to be a single-player game. We likely won't see it before 2029, and this world will completely go to shit before then.
If they end up making Destroy the Canon ending Mass Effect is dead to me - after all the decisions i made over the entire trilogybarely had an effect on the ending of the game, not even my choice of ending is gonna matter? Not gonna play further then.

When you play 'Dragon Age' you will encounter a number of familiar voices throughout the series. Some are NPCs, some are companions, some are even the player characters. In Dragon Age: Origins you are a silent protagonist, but in Dragon II the female player character is Jo Wyatt, the voice of Ciri from Witcher 3. And in Dragon Age Inquisition one of the voices is Alix Wilton-Regan aka Samantha Traynor from ME3.

Ending with audio of the war, ship debris, damaged relays, and a planet littered with the bodies of dead Reapers.

People lost their s**t when this trailer came out. It was totally unexpected and was the last World Premiere at the end of a long Game Awards show. Most of the people/RUclipsrs who were watching the awards were tired, sleepy & just wanted the show to end. And then this hit. BOOM!! 💥

Since no one knew what this trailer was going to be when they recorded it, since it was a mystery trailer, I love going and watching people's reactions to it and seeing when they realize it's Mass Effect. A lot more than you'd think need the N7 plate to put it together, but I love watching the PTSD kick in with the reaper sound. It's so iconic.

My guess would be that Destroy ends up being the Canon ending. But the green highlights were visual representation, not meant to be literally how they'd all look with the synthesis ending.
The catalyst explained that synthesis has failed before. After several hundred years it may well not have stuck.

My guess is that Destroy was always intended to be the canon ending if Mass Effect were to ever continue in the Milky Way. It just works too well with the overall story. It's what Shepard, Anderson, and Hackett were all working toward throughout Mass Effect 3.
Unfortunately, BioWare has not been doing well lately. 50 people were laid off from the studio last year, and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has had a troubled development cycle. The latest rumor is that the next Mass Effect game won't be out until 2029, which kind of makes sense when you consider that 1) they're still working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, and 2) the latest Mass Effect teaser we got was an absolute nothingburger that didn't tell us anything about the game.
Destroy is also the ending the headwriter for the first two games intended had he wrote the third game.
You have to understand that we had no idea it was a Mass Effect teaser until that Reaper sound. At least for me. This was shown I think at the end of The Game Awards? I don't remember but I literally just thought it was another random sci-fi game. I remember screaming like a lunatic when I saw Liara holding that N7 badge. 😭 She's looking for Sheapard (maybe I don't know lol). Also if you're interested there's a more recent teaser shown not too long ago. They're all extremely short and vague lol
Few "fun" facts for you Whimsy and maybe others about this trailer and the another ones from N7 days.
1) The Next Mass Effect will somehow connect "storylines" from ME Trilogy and Andromeda. In first shot, you can se both galaxies next to each other. Also, Mike Gamble, the current Project Director of NME was working on Andromeda, ME2, ME3 and all DLC inbetween as Producer, indirectly confirmed it that they will be somehow tied to one another.
2) The Asari is definitely Liara because of her "eyebrows" and "freckles". But you can also notice three characters behind her. One appears to be salarian on the left and on the right it looks like Krogan or Turian. Right now I can't remember who might be the one inbetween, but from some other materials released by Bioware as teasers in past years, there was a rumor that maybe, in NME will have three companions with us instead of two. Not confirmed though.
3) A lot of footage and materials suggest that we will be again in Milky Way Galaxy and as far as we all can see, it's confirmed that synthesis ending will not be "canon", as well as the control because of the dead Reapers we see in snow, but Bioware confirmed neither of the endings as canon and there is also a rumor, that Bioware will somehow? tie all the 3 endings to one "new" ending that will be canon for NME, although that is pure speculation right now and wasn't confirmed by anything.
4) In teasers from N7 2023, we can see who is maybe the next N7 protagonist/antagonist, but also it confirms that the geth are somehow alive. Also on promo poster/picture on N7 Day 2023 we see all the races from Milky Way plus with geth and also angara from Andromeda in same one picture, which resembles Purgatory or Afterlife club. That confirmes the "merging" of Andromeda and Milky Way. How it's not sure right now. There is speculations of "time dilations", something with dark energy plot which was mentioned in ME2 and was original overall plot for Reapers but was dropped in ME3 for new plot synthetisc vs. organics, or that the races in Milky Way somehow managed to build a new Mass Relay that can connect to Andromeda galaxy, but nothing was confirmed yet.
5) There is also some wild rumors that the NME will release in 2029 which is by all means false. This Next Mass Effect is right now (or atleast in past years) developed by a small team of Bioware/Mass Effect veteran devs lead by Mike Gamble since 2019, which was confirmed by Gamble himself. So right now, the game is in pre-production for approximately 4 - 5 years. And when the Dragon Age Dreadwolf will hopefully finaly release this Fall, the Next Mass Effect will enter full production and I can imagine, the core team has already build atleast small portion of the game. So I personaly would believe that if nothing goes wrong, which could ofcourse, that we could be playing Next Mass Effect in 2026, maybe in Q1 2027. Depends when will the Dreadwolf release and how much work there was already done on NME.
There is a lot more info, rumors etc. on the internet/youtube by fans on the NME but I felt atleast this small portion of info could be interesting for you Whimsy and perhaps the others, who is not watching/folowing the info on NME more closely. Found you through Mass Effect, absolutely loved the playthrough! I'll get on to watching your BG3 playthrough once I've completed the game myself. Cannot wait for Dragon Age!! BioWare were at their peak when they made Origins, you'll be falling in love with a whole new group of characters. I would count on destroy being the canon ending, one piece of evidence is all the damaged relays and the damaged citadel that is visible in the trailer and another evidence is in Adromeda where they cannot get in contact with the Milky Way.
Those were damaged in all three endings, and Andromeda can't contact the Milky Way either way.
@@happyslapsgiving5421 no they where only damaged in the destroy ending, and yes Andromeda itself cannot send messages back because it would take forever for it to reach the milky way but there is a plot thread in the game where they noticed that the broadcast of data from the milky way simply stopped and never resumed. That indicates either that the reapers won or that the technology used to communicate was destroyed.

@@WhimsyPsyche most people that watched the trailer for the first time hadn't played the series in a long time, (and weren't told it was a mass effect trailer as dozens of people have said). Legendary Edition wasn't even out yet! The radio chatter is riddled with ME specific lore such as Arcturus Station being name dropped. Pretty much no one that I've seen react really picked up on it or remarked about it, I guess the commenter probably was hoping you would.

@@garycannon4644 Totally not true. Whoever said that BioWare confirmed it, made it up. I've see BioWare devs actually comment that the Milky Way and Andromeda are intentionally in the 5th game. I've seen BioWare devs refer to the game informally as 'Mass Effect 5' (I'm sure it'll have a title not a number). I've seen BioWare devs comment that they had no intention for the 'breath' seen in Destroy to be taken as the 'best' ending but that it was more or an interesting easter egg.
The trailer obviously shows that the DESTROY Ending is the canon to the story. What we all still don't know is what the game is gonna be about. Some have predicted that since it showed Liara finding the N7 helmet piece it means that maybe Shepard somehow survives (which Shepard does if you have enough War Assets) and that Liara and her crew (A random Salarian and what some might think its Tali and Garrus) are trying find Shepard. Some think that after the recent new ME trailer, it means we have a new protagonist that is an N7 soldier. Whenever The New Mass Effect comes out, I hope it's with Shepard.
My predicted story/game scenario (from my story):
Game starts off with newest 3rd Human Councilor Admiral Hackett saluting everyone that died in the fight against The Reapers. Then announces Shepard's crew that died during Saren, The Collectors and The War. Starting with Members of the crew that died when the Normandy blew and when The Collectors invaded the ship. Then announces the following (cutscene: all members of the crew show their statues int the Citadel) Kaiden Alenko who died to destroy Saren's facility (Shown by Ashley), Mordin Solus as the saviour of the Krogan (shown by Wrex and Grunt), Thane Krios the assassin who died to save the Salarian Councilor (shown by Garrus), Legion who was a Geth that died to bring peace between the Quarians and the Geth (shown by Tali), The First Human Councilor Admiral Anderson who died in the Battle at Earth (shown by Hackett), EDI who unfortunately died during the destruction of The Reapers along with the Geth (shown by Joker) and then The First Human Spectre Commander Shepard who sacrificed her life to destroy The Reapers (shown by Liara who is now bearing Shepard's child). The crew of the Normandy (Joker, Garrus, Tali, Liara, Wrex, Ashley, James, Cortez, Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed, Kasumi, Grunt, Samara, Jack, Dr Chakwas, Samantha, Engineer Adams, Donnelly and Daniels and Javik) were about to salute till the council showed a recording of Shepard stating that this recording was last her official order if she dies and in the recording Shepard has requested that following people are to be recommended to become Spectres: Garrus Vakarian (her best friend and someone she loves as her brother), Tali Zorah Vas Normandy (her best friend and someone she loves as her sister, to be first ever Quarian Spectre), Urdnont Grunt (who looked up to Shepard as his mum, to be first ever Krogan Spectre), Urdnont Wrex (her best friend and someone she loves as her brother to also become the first ever Krogan Spectre with Grunt), Lt James Vega (her friend and someone who looked up to Shepard as a hero, to be recommended as the newest N7 Soldier and next Human Spectre with Ashley), Ashley (her best friend and someone she loves as another sister and to be recommended as the newest N7 Soldier with James), Zaeed Masani (someone who respected Shepard and mercenary that would become a Spectre), Samara (as a friend and someone who owed Shepard her life and her family, she would become a Justicar Spectre), Urdnont Bakara (someone respected Shepard to be recommended as the first Krogan Councilor), Jack (someone who respected Shepard, an ex cold-blooded killer turned Biotic Teacher into a Spectre), Kasumi Goto (someone who respected Shepard, a professional thief into a Spectre) and lastly Javik (the last living Prothean to become a Spectre). They all accept and all give their final salute to Shepard.
Time stamp - 10 Years Later...
We see Shepard fully alive and living a life on a farm in Earth. She has 2 kids and a baby girl. She's living a normal when out of nowhere her home gets attacked but not by humans or aliens but by New Generation Geth and Husks. Her family gets captured and they told her to return to The Citadel and do a job for them which ended horribly. When she was at The Citadel, she was doing a heist job for them and they ended up shooting her and exposing her to the universe. The kidnapper reveal themselves in a hologram and the leader reveals himself and the leader's name is John Shepard (default name), Jane Shepard's twin brother (If anyone played Male Shepard, it swaps around). (Depending on what background story you chose for Shepard: Military, Colonist or Earthborn they all have their own backstory with the twins) John announces that his sister left him to die and wants to destroy the peace she died to bring a reality and shows them his army which are a mixture of new generation Husks and Geth and battleships all made from Reaper technology. And he decides to show Shepards kids and declares war on Shepard.
After a while...
Shepard is resting and when she wakes up, Liara is right there. Liara and Shepard talk. Liara takes Shepard to a meeting where The Council are discussing what to do next and Shepard arrives. In order to understand everything, they created a machine where it shows a person's memory and in this case, Shepards past. They watched Shepards Last Stand from where she entered The Citadel, to the confrontation with The Illusive Man, Anderson dying, talking to The Catalyst and the choice she made which resulted in her death. Like the "secret" ending where it shows she survives, the memory shows us how she survived. It shows Leviathan appearing out of nowhere, talking to a dead Shepard and then they bring life back into Shepard. They tried to turn off the machine but Shepard's memory was so strong the machine continued to show her past. It showed where she lived, to the birth of her kids: her first born 7-year-old boy named Garex Anderson Shepard (names after Garrus, Wrex and Anderson), her daughter Taliara Mirash Shepard (names after Tali, Liara, Miranda and Ashley) and her baby daughter Edi Shepard (named after EDI). But the memories doesn't show the kids father which raises questions among them and wondering "Who's the father of Shepards kids?" Shepard begs them to give her a ship and asked them not to get involved because it only concerns her and not the galaxy. The council deny her request but Councilor Hacket takes her to her ship but what she doesn't realise was that he was taking her to The Normandy. She enters The Normandy and hears echos of everything that happened from the 3 games along with some "deleted scenes" you didn't hear in the 3 games. Then her crew enter (Garrus, Tali, Liara, Wrex, Grunt, Ashley etc) and all greet her with open arms, Liara shows Shepard their daughter (showing that Shepard now has 4 kids) and her crew vowed to help her find and rescue her kids and thus the crew of The Normandy once again join forces to find and rescue Shepards kids.
The games play however it goes...
(Romances with Liara)
(Garrus and Tali got married, have a home on both Rannoch and Palaven and have kids)
(James and Ashley are together)
(Steve got remarried)
(Wrex has a lot of kids)
(Javik opened a Library and started dating an Asari)
(Grunt is... Grunt)
(Joker can now finally walk normal)
(Miranda starting dating)
(Samara is... Samara)
(If players had Male Shepard romance Miranda, Jack or Ashley, they'll have kids with Male Shep)
(Any other romances with Garrus, Tali, Samara, Steve, Kaiden etc won't have kids)
Somewhere close to the end: Shepard finds out where John Shepard base of operation is because its where her kids are also at and somewhere she gets hurt pretty bad. They find out that the thermal bullet that penetrated her is stuck inside and is slowly killing her. As Shepard is recovering in the Med Bay, she starts hearing EDI's voice, telling her where to go and at first Shepard thought she was hearing ghosts but EDI but responded saying she never left and she was always in The Normandy. So EDI helps Shepard escape The Normandy and headed to Earth because Earth is where John Shepard has been where he was hiding the whole (depending on background, its where his base is) and as she's arriving she's see's a flashback of where John dies and it shows us that John has been dead the whole time and now makes you wonder "Who and What is the current John Shepard?"
The End: Shepard arrives and fight her way in John's base. Somewhere in the base, she finds a room where there's many clones of her brother, meaning that One: Her brother has been dead the whole time. Two: Who has been making of her dead brother?
Moving on, she finds and fights her clone brother but her wound gets worse and he shoots her and as he's about to shoot her, someone shoots him and it's another clone of John Shepard. Earlier, Shepard tempered with one of the cloning machines and changed the clones memory from bad to good. New John tries to help and head to a rooftop of the building they're at because its burning and collapsing but there's nowhere to run. Then The Normandy arrives, John get the kids to the ship first and then tries to help Shepard. But John see's that building is about to drop so he saves Shepard but he doesn't because he knows he's not the real John so he stays and dies.
Epilogue: The game ends with Shepard once again traveling on The Normandy with her kids and her crew but with a new mission. She has discovered in the base, that someone created clones of her brother which means that someone knew she was alive and her crew are determined to find and expose them. Showing us that Mass Effect is starting a new story.
Glad you watched it! Love everything it is showing, sadly wait several years later for it to come out, I call it ME5, and Liara is "older". Thank you for watching troll/teaser BioWare put out. There is one more video to watch.

Regardless of the trailers, it is different people making the next Mass Effect. The person leading this is really an Andromeda person. They also hired a new writer, Mary DeMarle who was the writer for Deus Ex and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The key people that led the trilogy are gone. But I got my eyes on Dreadwolf. What they do with that will be telling.

@@johnP0908 Yep, and other teasers suggest Geth involvement, and they are only alive in Control/Synthesis. The relay could have been destroyed while the Geth were being repaired(or it’s the relay of The Arrival). It’s not that complicated to write as a story. I understand why you and others have deduced that the Destroy ending is canon - I respect your opinion and think you might be right - but OP wondered if BioWare “came out and confirmed” the theory, and that didn’t happen. There was no official statement or tweet that said “Destroy is canon”, only a few teasers released with fans trying to find clues about what comes next.

If Shepard does return in any future game, Destroy has to be the canon ending, as it's this only ending in which it is possible for them to survive. Shepard's body is completely destroyed in both the Control and Synthesis endings, and there is a secret scene (which Whimsy got in her playthrough) at the end of the Destroy ending if you have go into the final mission with a military score of at least 5000, showing a body in N7 armor jerking and gasping for breath (obviously implied to be Shepard).
Personally I prefer the Synthesis ending, as it's the ending that truly solves the problem that the Reapers were created to solve. I never like picking the Destroy ending, as it kills ALL synthetic live, not just the Reapers, so the geth and EDI were killed as well.
Like most others here, really looking forward to Dragon Age! It's an amazing series in its own right and has different strenghts than ME.
Bioware pretty much has to have import options for all the endings (exept refusal and low EMS destory I guess ) in order not to invalidite so many playthroughs and one of the main points of having a RPG with multiple options and endings to begin with.
This trailer came out 3 years ago. $20 says they haven't even settled on whether it's a sequel, prequel, or reboot yet.
Destroy is not the canon ending. All ending are equally valid. Many feel the game will be set hundreds of years later. The teaser shows the Andromeda galaxy in the background (intentionally) so we know that 'Mass Effect 5' will connect to both the trilogy and ME Andromeda.

Can't be. The Asari (Liara ?) was climbing up a dead reaper with another dead reaper in the background. Both of which wouldn't be there in that time period.
If you look in the background of that snowy planet, that thing Liara is climbing up a dead reaper, and there is a dead reaper in the background. That leads me to believe Destroy is the canon ending.
Some would say that reaper could be a casualty before the an ending was chosen, but the destroyed relay is a dead giveaway that neither Control/Synthesis made sense. that relay should've been repaired.
But there's clear Geth presence, which leads us to believe it's not.

Honestly, I think you should play Andromeda. imo, it was a great game, underrated due to the launch state it was in. Not as great as the trilogy, but like i said, imo, still a great Mass Effect game

Destroy ending canon or indoctrination theory ending? I think with indoctrination it is the best choice as it can continue with the war against the reaper. With destroy I don't know with relays destroyed. Maybe a new ennemy. For me if it is destruction ending, the sound of the reaper is a souvenir only

I was very excited when i first saw this, but just so you and people that read this comment don't get your hopes up, it was revealed just a few months ago that this game(even though the trailer came out 3 years ago now) is still in PRE-PRODUCTION! Not only that, but EA recently laid off writers from Bioware. This trailer, along with the newest one, are just to keep buzz going, they most likely still don't even have a plot, nor a way to resolve the ME3 triple ending issue. Also keep in mind that almost everyone who worked at Bioware on the original trilogy no longer work at Bioware.
Sadly, this is just more EA being EA.
I do hope we get another great Mass Effect in the future, someday. But it most likely won't be for a good long while.

- There are teasers that were posted during the different N7 days that happened since this teaser was released. They are so short that you can barely post any reaction to them (unless you make one video that has both of them) but here's what we saw:
a) hints at the Geth still being around somehow
b) mentions of the Andromeda galaxy
c) what appears to be a new N7 protagonist (we didn't see the face but the woman we saw didn't look like a soldier)
Another thing to note is that there is still no confirmation that there is indeed a canonical ending. People saw this trailer, with the downed Reaper and the N7 armor piece, and assumed it meant that the Destroy ending with Shepard living was canon. It's a possibility but BioWare has not release a sequel with a canonical ending since Baldur's Gate 2 in 2000 and really went out of their way to canonically explain why a character that potentially died in Dragon Age: Origins was still alive in Inquisition. I wouldn't put it past them to find a way to make it work without a canon.
Whimsy played the ME 1-3 on default gameplay. Didn't even import from ME1 to ME2 to ME3 & yes some quests has a different outcome.
What are you on about? I imported from ME1 to ME2 and then imported again from ME2 to ME3. All my previous choices are reflected because of that. You sure you're watching the right videos? 🤣

Yes, most likely Destroy is canon ending. No way the would be able to account for all endings. Synthethis would be interesting in concept, but I don't see it, how it would work.
Control would be interesting in terms of Repear-Shepard being villain, but would be repetition of the trilogy.
After finishing the trilogy myself I could not find another game that I truly enjoyed - until Cyberpunk 2077. Now after DLC and many many fixes it is truly a masterpiece & a wild ride. You should try it again ! (you mentioned you gave it a go at release and were disappointed)
She also posted Starfield only once. There is one other game she also only played once. What they have in common with CP2077 is they are 1st person games. Many gamers only play 3rd person games.
I played BioShock Remastered in its entirety and it's an FPS game. I do like FPS games, Starfield is just not that good and CP2077 was buggy as hell on launch (which is when I posted the video). That is all!
I'm open to trying CP again now that it's fixed!

We still don't know anything real about this game, BioWare and Mike Gamble *(the creative director)* are being very cryptic about it. If the Destroy Ending is canon *(considering Liara, in this trailer, doesn't have green glow all over her face like she does in the Synthesis Ending)* and the game takes place hundreds of years the future... Then only Liara and Grunt would be the only remaining members from the old crew. In the ME Universe, Humans are lucky to reach 150, Turians can reach 150 with relative ease and while there's concrete info about the Quarians, their lifespan is estimated between 150 - 180 years. Salarians barely reach 40 😂
Wrex might still be kicking, but he would be extremely old at this point *(he's supposed to be close to or even past the 1000 years threshold by the time of ME3)* and unlike Asari, which are known for dying a couple of years/decades/centuries after turning 1000, there is no info/documentation in the ME Universe about Krogans dying of old age, at all *(Drack from Andromeda is 1400+).*

Hahah thank you!! I pretty much buy all my stuff off internet. Barely ever go shopping IRL, it's pretty rare shops have clothes that fit me anyways when it comes to pants (I have very long legs), so yeah. Online shopping is the best!

Unfortunately, I have no faith in Bioware / EA will be able to make a good follow-up game. They nearly destroyed the universe with the ending of ME3. I must admit that it is encouraging to hear that they plan for it to be a single-player game. We likely won't see it before 2029, and this world will completely go to shit before then.

If they end up making Destroy the Canon ending Mass Effect is dead to me - after all the decisions i made over the entire trilogybarely had an effect on the ending of the game, not even my choice of ending is gonna matter? Not gonna play further then.
