      they’re definitely not a psychopath. The symptoms don’t match them at all
      They did confirm that they were diagnosed with bpd, which can be a lie of course like they did with DID, but a lot of her behavior does fit. I have bpd myself so I know a thing or two and I can see a lot of stuff I’ve learned in DBT how some symptoms can look unmanaged in Trisha. Of course we just see what they show and they show a lot all over the place.

    The Scorpion (Trisha) & the Frog (Ethan):
    “A scorpion asks a frog to carry him over a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if it did so, they both would sink, and the scorpion would drown. The frog then agrees, but halfway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When the frog asks why, the scorpion shrugs and says, 'it's my nature' and they both drown."

    tbh i dont really blame ethan for believing trisha, from an outside perspective its obvious especially if you’re already skeptical of these types of people (influencers, celebrities etc) its easy to see she’s full of shit, but ethan has always been kind of oblivious or less self aware if u will. she obviously has a thing for him & has been using him the whole time but because he is so genuine (the way you put it is really fitting, dumb but genuine) he couldnt see it. their whole ‘friendship’ has been a very entertaining train wreck but i think it was always gonna go down like this

      I would make the argument that Trisha’s mental illness isn’t some spiritual defect, it’s something they suffer with everyday and I imagine they’d get rid of no matter what it took, but it doesn’t work like that, not with BPD

    • @sjworrier0613
      @sjworrier0613 3 года назад

      And yes... you do walk around eggshells with people with BPD, but I try to imagine what it’s like for them to walk on eggshells living with themselves daily, Ethan knew her theatrics and dramatics would get views... and part of that if not all of it was her mental illness

    I am SO excited for your Moses video haha. He always gave me "faux artist woke bro" vibes, trying to seem deep but not really going anywhere, using it as a façade to seem impressive. You know he's been married multiple times previously? You wouldn't know it from how he talks about being engaged to Trisha. But it's hard to always know how he must really think about things because it really seems like Trisha uses his accounts to post for themself... but its scary because none of the possibilities for their relationship seem good. Either 1) Trisha is abusing Moses and using tactics to separate Moses from his family and outside connections 2) Moses is using Trisha for 5 seconds of fame and money and doesn't care about their relationship really, 3) They are both messed up people using each other for their own benefit.
    I always genuinely wanted Trish to do better. But I get the sense that Trish changes to be with whatever group they are currently with... morphing to be a little like Jason, like Ethan, I guess now like Keemstar? Obviously genuine change only comes when you want it for yourself and are willing to look in those shadows. Not sure Trish has been able to do that yet or would ever be willing to.

    • @EvieLupine
      @EvieLupine 3 года назад +18

      As far as my read on Ethan... I think he did genuinely want to help her be better. He seems like the type with the desire to help and nurture, and I think Trish gave him the impression that they were improving and that he was helping in some way. He just had to be patient enough, nice enough, believe enough, when no one else would. For a particular personality the allure of "if I just do enough they can change" is VERY strong. Combine that with a desire to keep peace with the family since now Trish would be part of his life no matter what he thought of them thanks to Moses... and this is what ya get. I hope he can really move on now and enjoy his soon-to-be second child with Hila and the hilarious, wholesome family dynamic with his parents on the podcast instead.

      One of your answers is already in your comment. You have to put energy into relationships with people that interest you and have simmliarties you want I'm a friendship instead of friendships that just happen to you. It's harder for introverts but not impossible. If you try to talk or interact with people you wanna be friends with its much more rewarding and they will probably reciprocate.

    How much do you feel that the attempts he was making were initially motivated by the fact that she is marrying his brother in law who is close with his family. • @dandelion5410
      @dandelion5410 3 года назад +6

    • @ItsAlysCorner
      @ItsAlysCorner 3 года назад +4

      I think Ethan liked Trish. I think that he really let down his guard even against his better judgment and opened himself up for her. I think he put A LOOOT of effort into trying to understand her and give her grace and be there for her and fight for her like a big brother. But I think it was his dedication to family that fueled it. Initially I think it was a family need to do so. I wish Trish could respect protecting the family unit the way that Ethan does.

    • @dandelion5410
      @dandelion5410 3 года назад +2

      @@ItsAlysCorner I agree to some extent. Trisha expected way too much out of what was essentially a professional relationship and H3 manipulated the reality of the friendship for content, wanting their affection and being content hungry T went along w it. I do suspect they truly disliked her early on, esp Hila and the crew, and disingenuously extended kindness on air which triggered her MH issues bc she knew it was bs. E&H were willing to keep trying after she went after Moses in a blatantly predatory attempt to cling to them but it became impossible, and E had to maintain his reputation. Yes he offered more grace than Trisha deserved but it's naive to believe his intentions were simply to maintain a friendship, he cared about content to begin w and himself/his family/his business in the end, the latter is in no way a negative reflection upon him. It's just a shitty situation and I really hope Trisha gets serious help

    • @christmastiger
      @christmastiger 3 года назад +1

      @@dandelion5410 That's one take I guess. Ethan seemed genuinely hurt by Trisha's actions in a way that as an H3 fan I have rarely seen so I don't think their friendship was completely fake, his genuine care for them is what made him so easily fall for their bullshit. I think it may have started as a fun goof and maybe a way to support Moses by showing that Ethan was actually interested in bringing his love interest (Moses is a whole other story) into his life but then a genuine friendship formed and was broken once he realized how treacherous Trisha actually was.
      I think people are underestimating Trisha's abilities, how manipulative and street smart they can be, and remember we are only seeing a tiny part of their life as Ethan and Trisha have talked about family events, birthday parties, outings, etc. and we're not there to see that dynamic. I think Ethan was almost too genuine with Trisha and tried to help them and got burned for it. While it did bring H3 and Ethan and Hila to a wider audience it also brought a LOT of grief and stress to their family, and most of us fans are over it and want them to move on, which Ethan seems all too happy to do now that he's seen Trisha's true self.

    • @dandelion5410
      @dandelion5410 3 года назад +3

      @@christmastiger I don't think the Klein's are particularly awful people but they used her for their business and Trisha is so messed up it all ended in their favour without them even having to try. They’re wise enough to not make poor choices and themselves publically, Trish and most youtubers are not.
      It was blatantly clear how troubled Trisha was from the beginning and they invited her on with the tone of it being friendly but underhandedly it was a gimmick for exposure. Trisha was the main attraction and everyone wanted to see. Trisha sets that standard for herself but H3 engaged w her knowing that.
      I've watched Trisha on and off for years, her street smarts are part of what make her likeable, she’s incredibly multifaceted. Being cunning isn't necessarily bad especially in business, but she doesn't have a healthy grasp of reality and doesn't know how to make choices w/o harming people and sabotaging herself. The Klein's are just as cunning, they have to be to survive in their line of work, and they end up the good guys in these online feuds bc objectively they are no where near as publically disgraceful as other ytubers and they know how to behave with tact to maintain their integrity publically. That doesn't mean they didn't use Trisha and manipulate her and have any ulterior motives, there was never an even playing field, by youtube standards they’re angels.
      They were open minded and accepting of her with the interest of the show, their reputations and their family in mind, not because they particularly liked her. It became lucrative and their quarrelsome but affectionate on camera friendship charmed the audience. During her redemption arc it was endearing to see Trisha making healthy friendships and having people w knowledge of mental health tactfully show care to her after a long history of drama. If the initial shows did poorly I truly doubt they would have befriended her at all. They were her generous friends and mentors while cashing in on it all and having basic care for her wellbeing seemed above and beyond. I think Ethan liked her more than Hila but not much.
      Trisha showed her true colors time and time again and it was clear they must have disliked her esp Hila and the production team. Her ignorance, narcissim, casual racism and problematic comments, just general Trisha antics would have been near impossible for anyone to deal with.
      She was unsatisfied with how she was portrayed and the creative direction and that sparked her attack on the production team. Watching herself on the show meant she had to see herself in a brutally honest light for once and people expected integrity from her and she had no idea how how to cope with it. The redemption arc was too much pressure and she totally broke down and regressed back to “old Trisha” - her unmanaged mental health issues overwhelmed her.
      I agree w her that the production was lacklustre and I hope H3 develop more. To be fair H3 is basically is a podcast and Trisha and had unrealistic expectations in many ways. I suspect the team didn’t want to do unpaid work (obviously) by putting in extra creative development. It also seemed like they knew very little about her and hadn’t watched much of her content, why would they not have done more research? Like no shiz she has a sketch past. Ethan refused to allow her any input besides creative suggestions which was legally acceptable given it’s his production company, but wouldn’t a close friend and family member have been given more say? Apparently not, not if it’s Trisha. The finances are also entirely hearsay on Ethan’s part. We don’t know the truth of it all.
      It’s obvious to Trisha’s fans she had a creepy crush on Ethan and I highly suspect Hila too, she probably propositioned them (it’s Trisha ofc she did) and was rejected and developed an inappropriate emotional dependency and need for closeness in what was a professional friendship because she had not had many stable and reliable people in her life. The image of this nurturing friendship and the hype around it compared to the reality was confusing for her and contributed to her breakdowns. They would have seen these red flags in her. Becoming an extended family member would’ve been difficult if not alarming but they chose to be publically accepting for the greater good and to not seem like dirtbags. They had her best interest at heart, wanted her to stay on a positive path and they were hurt by the fallout, which is simply basic human decency. Their motives were not as sincere as they seemed, they were manipulative and they used her, her drama, her mental health all of it to further their careers. Ofc I’m not rly going into the extent of Trisha’s toxic actions, i’m just explaining how H3 exploited her and the situation too.
      If anything general public awareness of mental health and conflict resolution in relationships have become more prominent since the show so that’s admirable.
      If you read this far this just my take as someone who has watched Trisha for years, I’m def not a fan I just find her fascinating. This whole thing was such a big deal online and it was good to get this out lol. I feel like we all have a tiny amount of vicarious trauma from it all. Lets hope things work out for all of them

    Anyway, after never really being part of a circle, I just accepted that everyone’s got their lives. I think the thing with Ethan and Trisha started out as part goof, part "hey maybe this could be entertaining to people" and part Ethan trying to do well by Moses. I think he started off trying to make this work for Hila and her family's sake and then it turned into an actual friendship. Yeah, he was gullible when it came to Trisha's past and behaviors but....it feels a little like you're blaming him for trying to help a *family member* and seeing it as Trisha being just simply a friend that you can easily cut out of your life. I think that's the big thing missing, this was more about family than friendship. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that angle in general because I have several in-laws (brother- or sister-in-laws) who I don't think are best for my siblings but unfortunately at this point kids and houses and all that are involved and it's very complicated.
    Anyway, this was a nice video and very informative about friendships with many nuggets of wisdom, and maybe there were a few moments that felt a little dodgy (personally I wouldn't phrase a friendship, even 20 years long, as "I won't let you leave me" that seems a bit odd and ironically like the thing you're speaking against in the first place) but I think you had your heart in the right place and hope this video helps people struggling with friendships.

    • @BrittanySimon
      @BrittanySimon  3 года назад

      That thing about friendship happens after many years. My bestie feels the same. It would be like leaving my sister. Unless there is abuse why would you leave your inner circle? Your favorite people in the planet? Seems odd to me.
      Of course there's a Toxic level to friendship but we are all consenting.

    I had a period of drawing in a number of toxic friends, one ended up being diagnosed with BPD (after our friendship dissolved), one other I think also had undiagnosed BPD.
    I was new to making an effort in forming friendships. Anyway it did not end well but was a great lesson.
    I was totally upset, angry, confused with their behavior but over-time I realised it was a good experience and made me look at my own behavior and what to look for in healthy friendships and what I need to be to be a healthy friend.
    Luckily now I have a few great friends, and it’s so easy. No drama, no bitching, no neediness, we have interesting discussions on science, philosophy, day-to-day life and just lots of laughs when we catch up. I always walk away feeling at ease and happy compared to the previous friendship group. I also have to say I probably enjoyed getting sucked into the gossip, drama with previous group so it was up to me to let go of seeking that sort dynamic and curbing me own tendency to want to get the inside scoop. That’s why it’s so important to have healthy friends otherwise you start taking on toxic behavior yourself.
    And like Ethan said once you realize some of the things a person has said is a lie, but you’ve gone along supporting them only to realise actually the other person might be innocent, you end up feeling really icky. So a good thing to avoid is friends that want you to take sides or insert themselves into other peoples business, or even just constantly criticize other people, lying or stories not matching up is also of course a big red flag.
    And funnily enough one of my good friends now, did get diagnosed with BPD (quiet BPD) , but I only knew him after he was in remission (because of therapy).
