There's a pretty big difference to me between telling an offensive joke as a stand-up comedian, and giving a big "F*ck you!" to any Jews, Muslims or Hindus in your audience by tossing a pig's head into the crowd.
I don't think the government should be regulating speech, other than in narrow cases such as slander, incitement, etc., but that doesn't mean that speech has to be consequence free.
If you say or do stupid stuff, you might lose your reputation or your job.
